Welcome to Diva Dirt’s Five to Watch 2014! This annual list compiles five rising talents in the world of women’s wrestling that we think have what it takes to be the next big thing.
From their in-ring abilities to their unique personalities, we aim to spotlight some of the upcoming female talent that you may not yet know about. Over five days, we will unveil the names that the Diva Dirt staff have handpicked.
Who is she?: This plucky upstart from the Midwest area has been making quite the name in quite a short time, competing in promotions such as SHIMMER, SHINE, OVW and the reincarnated CHIKARA, turning heads with her never-say-die attitude and innovative offense. Whether she’s representing the All Star Squad as one half of The Buddy System (alongside Solo Darling), working her way up the card in SHIMMER or making history, The “Punk Rock Ragdoll” is proving that she a force to be reckoned with in the coming year.
Her story so far: Although Heidi has been competing since 2010, competing in Midwestern promotions like IWA:MS, most fans first caught wind of her during a somewhat controversial same-sex romance angle in OVW, alongside Taeler Hendrix. Heidi moved on to SHIMMER and SHINE, taking on the likes of Mercedes Martinez, Jessicka Havok, Nicole Matthews and Madison Eagles just to name a few. However, one of Lovelace’s finest moments happened this December, when she became the first woman to win CHIKARA’s Young Lions Cup, after defeating Missile Assault Ant at their Tomorrow Never Dies event. Lovelace has also been seen as one of Adam Rose’s Rosebuds on a recent episode of Raw.
Why we chose her: 2014 was a breakout year for Heidi Lovelace, honestly speaking. Aside from competing in the biggest all-female promotions in the world, she proved she can play with the boys as well, making history in the process. We’ve watched Heidi’s stock rise dramatically this year, and if 2014 is any indicator, perhaps we’ll see it soar through the roof in 2015.
