WWE Issues Statement on Controversy Surrounding NXT Diva Jasmin

The WWE is speaking out on racist tweets recently discovered on the account of NXT Diva Jasmin.

The messages, which contained the n-word and other racist elements, were posted years ago, back when Jasmin – real name Nhooph Al-Areebi – was a teenager.

However, in a statement to PWInsider, the WWE claims that, in those incidences, Jasmin’s Twitter account had been used without her knowledge:

“WWE conducted a thorough investigation and has determined that Nhooph Al-Areebi’s (aka Jasmin) Twitter account was used without her knowledge when she was 16 and 17 years old. Jasmin remains apologetic for any offensive remarks that were made.”

Earlier this week, shortly after the messages started to circulate, Jasmin deactivated her Twitter account. She has also commented on the controversy, saying:

“Unfortunately, I used poor judgment sharing my Twitter account with someone else. I am truly sorry for any offensive remarks that were posted.”

This comes on the heels of Zahra Schreiber‘s WWE release, which was prompted by the discovery of Nazi imagery on her Instagram.
