Tonight at NXT TakeOver: RESPECT, Asuka made a memorable first impression, to say the least.
The Japanese star made her NXT in-ring debut in a match against Dana Brooke, unleashing her trademark kicks and submissions to great effect.
To her credit, Dana hung in for most of the match, putting up a bigger fight than many expected. However, her strength and the presence of Emma at ringside weren’t enough to overcome the speed and skill of Asuka, and when Dana was trapped in a crossface chickenwing bodyscissors submission – AKA the Asuka Lock – she had no choice but to tap out.
In the end, Dana and Emma were taught a valuable lesson: never underestimate Asuka.
