Could ROH’s Women of Honor division soon be fighting for a new Women’s title?

According to a report from PWInsider, Ring of Honor are currently in the works of introducing a new title for their female roster and crown its first women’s champion in the upcoming year.

The report also adds the company plans to offer contracts to their regularly used female talents that include Kelly Klein, Mandy Leon, Deonna Purrazzo and Taeler Hendrix to launch an official Women of Honor division.

Within the last year, ROH has showcased their Women of Honor matches as an exclusive content to their official YouTube page every Wednesday as part of their #WOHWednesday movement on Twitter.

Other independent female talents to have been featured in recurring competition of ROH’s #WOHWednesday include Veda Scott, Sumie Sakai, Hania, Solo Darling, Candice LeRae, Jessica James, Crazy Mary Dobson, Jessicka Havok and more.

ROH has also previously asked fans to share their thoughts on the introduction of a WOH title:

Would you like to see ROH introduce a WOH title? Who would you crown as the inaugural champion? What other female talents would you like to see make up an official WOH division? Let us know in the comments below!

About time! But it would be nice if they featured the women more regularly on television first before online. Online presense is great especially in this day and age, but there are still some people who’d rather watch ROH matches on TV rather than the internet.

I can easily see Mandy Leon VS Kelly Klein being the final match.

    • Divalicious

Their top girls right now are Mandy Leon, Kelly Klein and Taeler Hendrix. Only Taeler is a good wrestler though the other two are messy, so if one of them is to be the first champ it should be Taeler.

      • Rhawk

Mandy is their poster girl while Kelly has been undefeated since debutting in ROH. It only makes sense for them to fight for the title. Though of course Hendrix being in the finals still makes just as much sense.

The online thing was just to get people conditioned to watch roh women’s matches after a period in which they stopped. They experiment with this and is worked. Now they know the roh fan base will invest in a women’s division.

Well here’s hoping that the case. Having a few WOH specials on TV isn’t bad as a way to do the same thing, but it would be nice to see them more regular on weekly television.

It doesn’t even have to be ever week. Every fortnight, or even 3 weeks at least. So long as they are featured on TV more in some capacity.

  • thenotorious1

Theyve been teasing this for like 6 years now. Just annouce it already dammit.

  • glassjaw

As much as I am overjoyed to see women’s wrestling reach yet another precedence within the industry, I do feel that ROH could and should have made this move way before now. But, that said, hurrah all the same. ROH can now work on building its own great women’s division.

  • howie_ruhl

Finally. ROH has had really good women getting involved with it for the longest time.

  • YonceLuvsDivas

They finally giving these women a title? Really? But at least they are getting one. That’s why I don’t really follow ROH. A women’s division is the first thing I look forward to in a wrestling company. no disrespect to the men but I fell in love with wrestling through the women’s division. The first time I turned my tv on to Smackdown back as a kid Trish Stratus was on the screen slaying her role as Vince’s side piece.

  • Divalicious

They really get some of the worst indie girls though they need better girls

  • Divalicious

Doesn’t ROH TV have a Women of Honor TV special this week?

  • Geek God

They’ve been talking about doing that for years now ??? that’s reason I’ve never watched is because at the time i was interested they didn’t even have a women’s division

    • PoisonFelino #Watermelondrea

I don’t watch RoH. But I enjoy most of the women’s matches they post on YouTube.

  • Wonder Woman ? ?

They should’ve made a Women’s Championship by now.

  • Juan

About time! Although they’ve said they were starting a women’s division for years now! But if they are serious this time then I expect Mandy Leon to be their first champion.

    • glassjaw

My choice as well. She’s been built really well in WOH.

  • Jim Baker

I would definetly crown a women’s champion, and my choice would be Taeler Hendrix. As fof who else i’d like to see join the division I would sign Jessica James,Sonia Strong,Mirand Vionette,Brittany Blake,Alexxis (Alexxis Nevaeh),and Samantha Heights

  • Anthony Gutierrez

    So overdue !
These women so absolutely deserve this !

  • trishlita721

    Poor maria she’s already left

  • 3???????

Funny I was just wondering why u guys don’t cover this on Wednesday …

  • SamoanSquad

This is great news and after watching this amazing 2 out of 3 falls match I’m ready for a women’s title.
    https://youtu.be/2aoK1oF1eRg

    • Raichu

I loved this match and I also very much enjoy Hania. She should be on the big stage.

  • Number One

YES!!!!! IT’S ABOUT TIME!!!!! I see Mandy Leon being the first champion; hope that comes with a heel turn!

  • Sam

This should’ve been done since the WOH division started. Make Taeler Hendrix the first champion. That’ll be awesome. Kinda sad that Veda Scott just left the company. It would’ve been nice to see her fight for the title.

  • ssilva872

I swore Taelor left them recently..

Either way this is beyond overdue. Like wtf they should have had a Women’s Title since 2008 at the latest..

  • Miguel Orona Rodríguez

I would actually watch this one withouse hesitation.

  • JP

    That would be awesome.

  • Gabby M.

This would bring a lot of opportunities on the table for the WOH but I wish they done this years ago with Daizee Haze and SDR.

    • glassjaw

      And MsChif and Lacey!

But ah, Daizee Haze. I miss her. So abrupt her exit from wrestling felt.

  • PoisonFelino #Watermelondrea

    I hope they do it.
Taela should be the first champ.
Maybe now they can start uploading women’s matches more frequently.

  • John Wilson

Bring Santana Garrett, Shanna, and I am sold.
