Today in History: ODB vs. Tara in a 2-Out-of-3 Falls Match at Genesis 2010

On this day in history:

January 17th, 2010 | After losing the Knockouts Title to ODB on a live episode of Impact, Tara was determined to earn a third reign. After all, her second reign lasted just two weeks. At Genesis 2010, she took the fight to ODB in a 2-Out-of-3 Falls match. Tara would capture the first fall with a roll-up pin, eventually grabbing the second fall and the victory with a Widow’s Peak. In winning the match two falls to none, Tara become the Knockouts Champion for the third time.

I never bought OBD as a heel she’s better as a face.

I never believed that Tara as a face she’s better as a heel.

    • Alaskatox

I liked Tara as a bad ass take no prisoners I’m going to prove myself face.

Random, but I liked Tara’s brief cougar gimmick with the Young Bucks.

      • Alice In La La Land

I remember that. And I remember when Tara copied Mickie James mini concert.

        • Alaskatox

I love that she’s never taken herself TOO seriously. Honestly I think I learned that from watching her. That you can be silly and bad ass.

          • Alice In La La Land

            I agree.

    • But the thing is she gets cheered just as much (if not more) as a heel. Character wise, I prefer her as a heel, but she tends to be booked to lose a lot more as a heel. It’s good that she can switch it up though.

      • Alice In La La Land

I agree. She’s always been a fan favorite. And she’s one of the few that can play the heel and face successfully.

  • Alaskatox

I always liked the idea and look of ODB’s character, but I could never stand her in ring. So bland. I don’t think I have ever really enjoyed one of her matches.

    • Rose-Quartz

I like her street fight with Velvet Sky that’s probably about it.

No shade to ODB, but I think she might be the heaviest woman that Tara used the Widow’s Peak on. During her feud with Kong I kept hoping for it, but never got it.

    • Miguel Orona Rodríguez

Tara performed a powerbomb on Kong but that’s about it, I don’t think she is that strong to lift Kong.

      • Alaskatox

I wonder what power movesBeth could have executed on Kharma.

        • Miguel Orona Rodríguez

I think she would match her up like Tara did. That would be more brawling and less grappling. Maybe a scoopslam (that wouldn’t be perfectly executed), a powerbomb from the top rope, not much more.

        • Based on their record bench presses, Tara’s stronger than Beth. Tara’s record is 345 to Beth’s 225.

I can remember when Victoria was SUPER buff

  • Miguel Orona Rodríguez

I tried to like ODB, her promo when she was turned the number one contender to Kong’s title was really good but in the ring, I didn’t feel she ever stood out in good matches. Her character was always very present and she was charismatic but when it comes to having really good matches, she just didn’t have it. In this match Tara is basically doing all the work. I will always love Tara in TNA, that character was the revival of Lisa’s career.
