During a Southside Wrestling tag team match on March 10th, 2017, former WWE Women’s champion Melina suffered a knee injury.

After hitting a crossbody off of the top rope, Perez was pinned and quickly rushed backstage. The injury was confirmed to be a dislocated kneecap.

Today, the Queen of Southside champion gave us an update via her Facebook page:

Melina is allegedly going to be given the OK to wrestle in around 2 months time, and it appears that she is as ready as ever to get back at it!

Once she rejoined the Independent scene, the A-List Superstar made her name known as she managed to capture a championship – on her first night back in the ring! Here Perez competed in a Southside Wrestling Entertainment tournament in which she defeated the likes of Lana Austin, Nixon Newell and former champion Kay Lee Ray to be crowned the Queen of Southside.

Alongside her ongoing success at Southside Wrestling, the Hell Cat has defeated the likes of Alex Windsor, Dahlia Black, Jinny, Shanna and many others across the globe. The Paparazzi Princess has competed for companies such as Pro Wrestling Chaos, Australian Wrestling Entertainment, Over the Top Wrestling and more.

omg! I’ve done exactly what Melina has done twice! It still effects me to this day. doing that really hurts and I can only imagine the pain Melina must’ve went through. My knee got really swollen like that too, and I couldn’t wrestle for the rest of the season after that. But the plus side for Melina is, if she doesn’t need surgery, she should be out for only 3-5 months.

  • She has been killing the indies, love her skills, her new hair-style don’t fit on her but she is one of the best.

  • StraightUpBitch

What a queen! She’s such a talent and I feel like doing the indies has done her good as she’s still making incredible strides in the ring and she appears so humble after being away for so long. Irregardless of her attitude in WWE, fans seem to love her and she loves them. Maybe Vince couldn’t handle a woman who dared to question him on the shitty way women got booked…

Hoping for a speedy recover she should really get one more run in wwe before retiring . i hope her injury isn’t so bad

Man dislocated knee cap sounds painful ! Wish her quick recovery and hopefully one day we’ll see her in WWE again.

P.S. I miss her long dark hair :/

Say what you will about her, aside from Mickie, in recent memory NO women of her status have gone back to the indies to grind as much as she has.

I really hope we see her pop up in the WWE, there were rumours swirling around a while back that she was signed with a slew of other former talent which never eventuated. Her returning to put a heel Sasha Banks in her place or Alexa Bliss would be epic!. No one did attitude like Melina.

She will never be back in WWE with her bad attitude. Love her

  • Luna Lovegood

    Get well soon Melina.

All the best and a speedy recovery Melina! Much love! :)
