As it was reported last month, Impact Wrestling has acquired a new partnership with Mexico’s Lucha Libre AAA (Asistencia Asesoría y Administración) and have strengthened their allegiance with the news of launching upcoming cross promotional shows respectively celebrating each company’s anniversary: Impact’s Slammiversary XV & AAA’s Triplemanía XXV.

TORONTO | NASHVILLE | MEXICO CITY – IMPACT Wrestling, a subsidiary of Anthem Sports & Entertainment Corp., today unveiled details about the landmark alliance announced last month with Promociones Antonio Peña S.A. de C.V., the owner of Lucha Libre AAA, Mexico’s preeminent professional wrestling organization founded in 1992.
The alliance coincides with a mutual milestone, as this year marks the 15th anniversary of IMPACT Wrestling and 25th anniversary of Lucha Libre AAA.
“This is an exciting time of celebration for both IMPACT Wrestling and AAA Lucha Libre,” said Ed Nordholm, president of IMPACT Wrestling. “By combining our efforts on talent, touring and distribution, we will increase the global footprint of our respective companies and create the best product for our passionate fan bases.”
The previously announced talent exchange between the organizations will kick into full gear on July 2 when IMPACT Wrestling presents Slammiversary 2017 from The IMPACT Zone in Orlando, Florida. The blockbuster pay-per-view event will showcase top talent from the high-flying AAA roster.
Meanwhile, AAA will present its 25th Anniversary Triplemania XXV on August 26, 2017 in Mexico City. The annual extravaganza will feature top IMPACT Wrestling stars Bobby Lashley, Eddie Edwards and Davey Richards, and an IMPACT championship belt will be defended on Mexican soil.
The two organizations also intend to launch co-branded live tours in the fall.
In addition to these cross-promotional initiatives, Anthem Sports & Entertainment Corp. will work with Lucha Libre AAA to expand the distribution of Fight Network, the world’s premier combat sports channel and home of IMPACT Wrestling in Canada. AAA will also facilitate distribution of IMPACT Wrestling in new territories throughout Latin America and South America, while Anthem will facilitate the expansion of the Lucha Libre AAA footprint through Fight Network’s diverse distribution channels.
“The best way to celebrate these 25 years of uninterrupted work is sharing with all of you the news that we presented today – our alliance with IMPACT Wrestling and the announcement of our international tour that includes not only the North American stops that we will complete with IMPACT Wrestling but also countries like Colombia and Japan, in addition to other activities that will help us to celebrate this important anniversary,” said Dorian Roldan, Executive VP of Enterprise Development for AAA.
Jeff Jarrett, Chief Creative Officer of IMPACT Wrestling, added: “I am excited to see the stars of IMPACT Wrestling and AAA on both anniversary shows and eager to start the co-branded live events as we continue to build promotional bridges on a global basis.”

In addition to AAA’s new partnership with Impact Wrestling, Pro Wrestling Sheet is reporting that part of this deal includes the chance of seeing some of Lucha Underground’s talents appearing on Impact television; the catch being that they wouldn’t be allowed to portray their El Rey Network characters.

What are your thoughts on the continued partnership between Impact and AAA? Would you like to see some of Lucha Underground’s stars on Impact Wrestling television? What would you like to see from these cross promotional shows? Let us know in the comments below!

  • Rose Márie ?

Impact wrestling is so desperate. Just shut it down all of it down.

    • Peter Marin

As a “fan” of pro wrestling, why would you want to see a wrestling company go down? Wouldn’t you want to see more wrestling being offered on TV? Lmao.

      • Juan

Because she isn’t a fan of pro wrestling. Probably one of those annoying WWE fanboys

        • Wicked Emma #WickedGirl

You can come across as a annoying TNA fanboy. How do you know she’s not a fan of Wrestling anyway.

          • Juan

Because people like her generally aren’t. Believe me I’ve been around long enough to know the difference.

          • Wicked Emma #WickedGirl

Still you haven’t gave valid reasons. You’re just speculating.

          • Juan

From my experience fans who want other wrestling promotions to go out of business are generally not wrestling fans and typically just watch WWE. They are marks and only want WWE to succeed.

I am a wrestling fan and I would never want ROH or LU to go out of business! The more variety and choices out there, the better it is for fans!

          • Wicked Emma #WickedGirl

You’re calling fans who only watch WWE, marks?. What about the other fans who only watch TNA?. They’re marks too!. And fans don’t want WWE to succeed.

          • Juan

Yes I am. And those TNA fans are also marks. A real wrestling fan doesn’t leave comments about wanting an entire promotion to go out of business! Just saying

          • Wicked Emma #WickedGirl

            To each it’s own.

          • Ian K. Loren

“Fans don’t want WWE to Succeed”? most fans want WWE to be a lot better that it is right now. there are marks and there are uneducated sheep which describe most wwe fans who don’t know any better.Just because a company says it’s the best, doesn’t mean it is.for any fan to wish doom on a company that can take away jobs from hard working talent,is not a fan and have a special place in [email protected]

      • Radic

Exactly. Original poster and those who liked the comment aren’t using their heads properly.

Also she liked her own comment, so that says alot as well.

    • Dark Heel

      Uhh no, WWE-tards. Honestly.

      • Wicked Emma #WickedGirl

You TNA fans are desperate. WWE fans aren’t desperate. And WWE-Tards ? Really?.

    • bobby miller

Word. Shut that dumpster fire down.

      • Number One

        Said no one ever

    • Summer_Slay #KellyToSaveRAW

      Absolutely NO!!!
We still have some great talent left: Brooke, Rosemary, Laurel, Sienna, Allie, Diamante, Madison & Angelina. Plus rumor has it that Gail will be returning soon. So if anything the partnership with Lucha not only can bring some fresh blood but it can also increase both companies reputation.

And the least we can get is some good wrestling matches.

    • Ian K. Loren

Like YOU’RE some “Wrestling Expert”…how about you shut down that fake avatar of a woman you’ll never be or never date.

      • Rosanna

Excuse me, fake avatar? I’m 19 years old I grew up watching wrestling with my dad. Just because you see a beautiful women that’s intresting in wrestling which you don’t see a lot of assuming the way you’re talking to me your excuse is ” shut down that fake avatar ” because you can’t see a women having an opinion on a sport she gre up watching. You’re obviously sexist. Calling me a catfish and finding something I wrote 2 months ago reaks of desperation. So for you sir, im not a catfish im a beautiful women who’s a passionate about wrestling and sees the epic failure of impact wrestling.

        • Ian K. Loren

So, did you look in a Grammar book for this little paragraph of yours?.And Sexist Implies that just because youre a woman you can’t be a wrestling fan(a sport you “Gre” up watching *eyebrow up*) and it it doesn’t “Reak” (it’s “REEKS” ,Honey)of desperation .And using a Dictionary isn’t one of your strong suits So since you’re “19” you were watching in 1998 which means that you were probably 8 years old??(you actually remember the Monday Night Wars at that age, that’s pretty amazing)And your dad should tell you that there was professional wrestling before the monday night wars and “experts” like you have saying Impact Wrestling has been D.O.A. for the past 15+ years…That’s one very Long death. All i’m saying is just because you watched the Monday Night Wars and read some Shoot Interviews doesn’t mean you know Wrestling. And who are you trying to Work here?…your reply doesn’t add up .Try again.

  • YonceLuvsDivas

Just throw the whole promotion away!!! But the only good thing for me is that I get to see Maxine aka Catrina and Angela Fong. Two of WWE’s most underrated divas. They had potential to be so big.

Maxine wasted her own potential. No sympathy for her here and that’s too bad since I really liked her as a performer. She was impatient and that’s it and would have she waited, she could have been something so that’s all on her.

      • Gabriella Panajotova

Well, I mean she made her choice. I don’t see her complaining or struggling for money so I don’t think she needs anyone’s sympathy.

      • YonceLuvsDivas

Now I do agree with you there. Her and Kaitlyn both. They both got their first lil taste of taking a backseat and just had a fit. Everybody knows when signing a contract in wwe that you will not always be pushed to the moon. For the average wwe superstar they get pushed upon debut to get recognized by the viewers, take a back seat to help another, get a title push, break again and pretty much anything happens from there based on your popularity.

        • C Mack

My thoughts exactly. Kaitlyn and Maxine could have stuck it out a little longer. I guess they expected that AJ spotlight. The other girl who came in with them waited it out…look at her now!

    • Gabriel S.

You lost me with that statement you’re trying to say.

So you mean that they should just stay on LU if you want Impact to vanish before they could appear there?

      • YonceLuvsDivas

The first sentence was a joke. I don’t really care too much for what happens cause I’m not big on both. It’s cool they are doing it. My only attraction is the women’s matches. Im happy only for the women’s sake honestly.

  • LU is in the same boat as TNA if they do this.

    • Dark Heel

  • Peter Marin

Wrestling fans are so ungrateful, you can never do anything right or wrong lol, people Bitch and moan wayyyy too much. I’m here for seeing IMPACT, AAA, and LU exchange talents and offer Dream matches and storylines for free. The more wrestling the better it is for me, but hey that’s just me ?

  • BLKLTR05

I don’t see the poing then. Part of the reason why LU is so successful is because of their characters. Impact NEEDS the characters but I’m sure that LU is protecting what’s essentially their creations because they have seen what Impact is capable of as far as characters go.

  • Nathan Bootleg Kardashian

iMPACT is still a thing? Cute.

  • I can totally see Ivelisse and Sexy Star appearing on Impact (if Sexy still works there) since their gimmick are not as freaky as Catrina’s. They just wrestle.

  • Ronald Dotson

I love how people keep putting down impact but they’re still here if you ask me that’s where the actual wrestling is I mean the women in WWE really improved but it’s all the same the matches are just longer only big spots in women’s matches today is Charlotte corkscrew outside the ring other than that nothing really wow I mean the women today are beast but they can definitely do better if you ask me

    • Wicked Emma #WickedGirl

WWE is were Wrestling is also.

    • Storm Saywell

But WWE has actual stoylines, a stable women’s division and rivalries, Impact Wrestling have women come and go, rivalries are non-existent and random and the matches are not as good as before – apart from the ones with Jade and Rosemary. Impact Wrestling is just a mess, all in all. I hope this year they get themselves together, but I’m sorry, WWE deserves a lot more credit than you’re giving them for evolving their women’s division from the mess it was back in 2012.

    • Justin Trenton #NotMyPresident

People often don’t see the big picture. In Impact they just have those TV matches. The WWE thinks longterm. They like to give each wrestler their own moveset, so they don’t all do the same moves. If everyone used the same moves it would be too monotonous. They also like to save the best matches for PPVs. That way the PPV matches stick out from the TV matches. In that regard the WWE has changed, now we do get some good matches on TV. In the past they saved all the good matches for the PPVs.

  • Well thats cool!

  • Juan

That’s great news!! There’s a few women in LU that could help out the Knockouts division! I mean Ivelisse and Catrina would be cool additions to LAX! Also Diamante vs Ivelisse needs to happen lol

    • Radic

*GASP* Alissa Flash back in Impact?!? o____o

      Oh one can dream…

  • BlaamLaambb

Definitly want to see Ivelisse, Maxine and Savannah on Impact Wrestling !

  • Maddox

If they can’t portray their characters, then what’s he use?

  • vdcvt

If Angela Fong gets more opportunities to wrestle then it’s a good thing. Still so salty that she was never used right in WWE

  • Good news but there is a lot of new talent without a good direction GFW, AAA, Lucha Underground, what?
This is a bit random, hope TNA put just one big roster to work with.

  • Radic

OH PLEASE! Bring back Ivelisse and use her well! Use Dulce Garcia (She barely uses Sexy Star outside of Mexico). Angela Fong! (After some more training to catch her up in the ring) YEEEES! PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEASE!!!!!!!!!!!

    Sorry, I’m having a moment.

In all seriousness, despite the whole Suing Hardy’s and threatening ROH for the use of the Broken Gimmick fiasco, its great to see Impact making some good connections. Having the Carter in majority ownership was slowly killing the company, and now with them gone/in a very minority role, Impact has some life to it. It’s small, but it’s something.

I’m a fan of wrestling but tna is floundering and the fact that they keep a maggot like josh Matthews around shows how little class they have

  • PYM #TakeoverSmackdown

Maxine’s history with AJ should be getting her places. It’s a shame she’s off somewhere on LU. She’s deserves more.

  • Raekon

This was awesome News and I’m all for it.
The only sad Thing is that you left out mariposa, taya and cobra moon in the Picture. :p
Can’t wait to see some of the matchups!

  • Miguel Orona Rodríguez

TNA needs to stop partnering with everyone and start producing good tv. Lucha Undergound is good on its own right and unless this is a war between companies, it means nothing.

  • C Mack

Let’s say Impact Wrestling/TNA goes out of business. Angelina Love (who’s in one of the best feuds of her career and is getting to work with her husband), Rosemary (who has changed the game with her character and ring work), etc would be out of jobs.

Everyone can’t go to WWE. Mandy , Daria, Sarah, etc can’t even get onto TV, so imagine how much longer we’d have to wait to see the TNA girls lucky enough to get signed.

Stop saying shut it down, y’all. It’s hella mean?

i wish angela fong would get just *one* more opportunity in the wwe.

  • Shell Koleva

I remember when TNA/Impact Wrestling had a really stable Knockouts division, at some point even more attractive than WWE’s women’s division.By the time when WWE then-Divas, slowly escaped and transitioned from their underwear and swimsuits matches, to some serious fights, TNA’s Knockouts, under Dixie Carter, were participating in a Hardcore matches, Ladder matches, Steel cage matches, without a hesitation. That was the time of Gail Kim, Velvet Sky, Angelina Love, Awesome Kong, Daffney, Tara, Madison Rayne, Ayako Hamada and Taylor Wilde, etc.
I think that WWE was scared to sign some of this talents, because they just will keep their TNA’s legacy, no matter where they go! I think that WWE is afraid of re-hire or hire, this women, because of this! I even think that when Kharma left, they felt some relief!
About uniting AAA/LU with GFW – well, it looks like another experiment, that everyone is praying to be successful! Maybe Taya Valkyrie has a lot of motivation to success in GFW, with her problems with AAA! So it will be good for her…
Overall I don’t know how long GFW will work! Their Knockouts are leaving one by one… but for now they are having some glimpse of hope, with those indie signing, which was a good idea! So there is a hope!
