It’s RAW Redux time! Apologies for the lack of the redux last week because I was busy ‘sunning’ it up, but now I’m back and ready to see what the RAW women’s division has been getting up to. The battle lines have been drawn for No Mercy and each woman is staking her claim for Alexa Bliss’ championship. Who is ready to make that last laugh before the big showdown?

First up we get the long-awaited match up between our biggest female Superstar, Nia Jax, taking on the RAW Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss in a non-title match.

The usually cocky Alexa seems a bit more pensive as she heads to this match and she’s right to do so, as Nia is straight on the attack when the bell rings. Alexa’s initial gameplan is to dodge and weave her way out of getting hurt, until she tries to land a slap… but gets caught. Nia lifts her up, but she manages to wriggle out and tries to get out the ring one more time. Nia tries to catch her, but is met with a slap across her face.

Alexa buys herself enough time to hightail it out the ring, but Sasha Banks’ music hits the PA system. She makes her way down the ramp, which sends Alexa back into the opposite and right into a running avalanche from Nia Jax.

When we come back from the break, Nia is fully in control of the match until she whips and Alexa dodges one of her charges, sending her flying into the ring post. Alexa manages to ground her larger opponent with a dropkick and climbs up the top rope… only to get caught by Nia and dropped into a Samoan Drop! 1.. 2.. 3! Nia Jax has pinned the RAW Women’s Champion!

As Nia celebrates, Sasha jumps her from behind! Nia manages to shrug her off, but she’s not finished. However, before she can start taking out her future No Mercy opponents, Bayley’s music hits and the hometown girl makes her way down the ramp! Standing alongside Sasha and Alexa, the three of them spear down Nia and take her out of the ring.

Sasha and Bayley raise their hands up and celebrate their #BossAndHugConnection, until Alexa jumps in the middle and tries to get involved. This doesn’t really go to plan for the Champ, as Sasha kicks her and Bayley hits her with a Bayley-to-belly! The who super popular power-faces celebrate in the ring!

It is later announced that Bayley will be added to the RAW Women’s championship match, making it a fatal-5-way with herself, Nia Jax, Emma, Alexa Bliss, Sasha Banks and the champion Alexa Bliss at No Mercy.

Backstage, Bayley updates us on being able to finally get some retribution on Alexa in her hometown. She updates her condition by letting us know that all good to go and ready show that she’s improved and will walk out as champion!

We’re also treated to another teaser promo for the long-awaited debut of NXT’s Asuka to the RAW roster.

Thoughts: It looks like the RAW writers picked up a page from the SmackDown writers’ handbook. I’m actually fond of Bayley’s return and being added to the match. The timeout has been perfect for the crowd to get a chance to miss her since they were so close to giving her the Reigns’ treatment. Sure it’s not really necessary, but with all the focus going on Asuka’s debut, we need to have all the valuable players out on the field.

Nia getting the win was strong booking for her. She’s improved so much over this year, but I’m really hoping that she pulls it out of the bag at No Mercy. She’s going to be used for most of the big spots, so I’m hoping she really impresses us. I can already imagine some really fun spots with women like Alexa and Sasha involved, so eyes are definitely focused on her as we move forward.

Alexa being booked as having no allies is perfect booking too. By tradition, this would point to her as walking out as the champion… but either way, it’s a nice change to see them play up the odds factor that the odds her stacked against her. It gives me shades of AJ Lee at WrestleMania 30, so if they play that up and she manages to work some good spots in the match then this should be interesting for her character moving forward.

Overall, it’s nice to see Bayley back. She’s still one of the most popular women on the roster and having that strong face in the mix will definitely make the No Mercy match and exciting one. The 2007 fan in me wishes Mickie James was involved somehow though!

Are you happy that Bayley is back? What did you think of Nia finally working with Alexa one on one? What are your thoughts on Sasha being a jump-a-hoe? You know what to do in the comments section!

  • Sass.

I enjoyed Raw. I thought Alexa & Nia both played their roles well, and I enjoyed Bayley’s return. I’m glad the crowd gave her a good pop.

I still would like something new following No Mercy though. I want to see Emma or Nia walk out as Raw Women’s Champion.

  • Crazy. #RIPMae

The match was interesting. The crowd reacting to it was fresh but I feel like they could’ve done so much more. The postmatch segment was actually fun to see but I feel like Bayley should’ve gotten her title match the night after No Mercy.

The Asuka vignettes are so good! I love them. Hopefully we get to see girls like Alicia, Mickie, Dana and Summer more even if they’re just jobbing, now that Asuka has arrived. I mean we all know they’re going to protect Sasha, Alexa, Nia and Bayley so someone has to take a couple losses to her.

  • It’s nice to see Bayley back. Anything to add more depth to that division is a plus in my book. Not a fan of the “let’s throw everyone in the match” move, and I must say that I’m not looking forward to it, but her inclusion makes more sense than Emma’s, if we’re being honest. (Not that I have a problem with her being in it. I don’t care about much of what Raw has to offer these days.)

I’m just waiting for Asuka at this point. The Empress can’t come too soon.

  • GEO

“What are your thoughts on Sasha being a jump-a-hoe?” SCRM WHAT IS THIS…

    • Welchy

      Oop tea

  • #Hooligan ?

Mickie James would’ve been a better addition to the match. By the way, where is her freakin title shot?? Ugh

  • Such a long show, only one tiny segment … I don’t see anything different from the diva era tbh
    women’s revolution yaaay
At least the crowd reacts !
Oh and btw, where is Mickie ??:'(
( yeah I’m kinda salty because I stood up all light in France for THAT )

  • Dylan Gutierrez

Am I the only wanting Alexa to turn face soon? She rocks as a heel but it’d definitely be a change on the main roster and they’ve been giving small hints to it.

  • Wicked Bliss

One possible reason why they brought back Bayley is for Bayley vs Asuka II. They did it before so they can do it again. Too bad i really thought Asuka has better chemistry with Emma.

    • Dylan Gutierrez

Agreed. It also helps that most of her foes will be people she’s faced or had some really great matches with – Dana, Mickie, Nia, Bayley, Emma. With Paige possibly returning, who knows what the future holds? I just hope the writers don’t throw us for a loop and give us something horrible with so much potential.

      • Wicked Bliss

There are lot of potential feuds… All of them are ruined because of the poor booking.

        • Dylan Gutierrez

Sadly. How hard is it for these writers to book a feud? It also doesn’t help Vince axes a lot of good ideas and does what he wants for the story.

    • A?.

Emma vs Asuka would be SO much better.

    • Diva_Fan

Nia vs Asuka had better chemistry than her and Bayley as well tbh .

  • Welchy

The height on Alexa’s front drop kick >>>
She would really do a lot better in an underdog high flying like mysterio role she always wanted to do.

  • Diva_Fan

I’m happy for Bayley that she’s made a speedy recovery but I really think they could have waited for her return . I don’t think she was needed in the No Mercy match as well .

  • DayOneISH!

I actually do want Alexa bliss to turn full baby face soon. Also I want her to do more Lucha style moves and do the Molly Go Round!

    • Her face moveset could help to silence some of her ditractors.

      • Jaded

        Where are the move sets?

    • Winter

Some fans like Alexa because of her heel character, as a face her mic work is gonna become stale and nothing else could defend her. She needs to be heel.

    • Jaded

Lol she can’t even do her finisher correctly and you want her to do more lucha style?
Set your expectations at a reasonable level

    • TorrieTrishStacyLita

Agreed. She’s a great heel but I’d love to see her Babyface again on the MR

  • BLKLTR05

I Enjoyed the match for what it’s worth. I Enjoyed it when Alexa would get some offense in and I especially liked that arm lift from Nia. Her using a Samoan Drop as a finisher is still annoying. I Mean if Tamina uses it as a signature move, then why are you using it as a finisher? Do something else woman! As for Bayley joining the match, great! Maybe we can see the seeds planted for a Sasha/Bayley feud without the title. I am still hoping for a swerve on Sunday, one where Emma either wins or doesn’t eat the pin and one where maybe the numbers game is a factor and Nia eats the pin. Also the thought of Alexa Bliss being a full on face is really intriguing and I’d actually like to see that.

  • Troy Rochester

I’m rooting for Nia to win the title on Sunday as it’s time for someone fresh as the champion plus I think a feud with her and Asuka for the title would be pretty good as they had great chemistry in NXT !

  • YonceLuvsDivas

Yea at this point I’m going to give the win to Alexa. Bayley being thrown just ruins Emma chances and her not even being involved let’s me know it’ll be nothing for her. Nia could possibly win it but I doubt they’ll give her the title now.

  • conan_kun

If Bayley doesn’t get injured, Emma may never be on TV at the beginning, it will be just Fatal 4 Way without Emma involved at all. Will MMA Four Horsewomen jump Sasha and Bayley at No Mercy, then book Charlotte and/or Becky in a title match at HIAC PPV and have the MMA Four Horsewomen attack them there too, thus set up the WWE Four Horsewomen vs MMA Four Horsewomen at Survivor Series.

I heard the commentary said Emma is still in Australia, if they follow the storyline, Emma getting backup from Australia like her fellow Aussies Iconic Duo to help her win. Raw can’t even book 2 women feud within 3 hours, let alone 3 women feuds. Perhaps let Bayley and Sasha move to Smackdown in order to align with Charlotte and Becky in Horsewomen feud, since it’s awkward to have 2 of WWE Horsewomen on separate brand to build up Horsewomen feud.

  • Alexa’s interaction with Sasha and Bayley was cute.

    • TorrieTrishStacyLita

lol I thought I was the only one who thought so. I wish they would just get over the backstage bs

      • I don’t believe the backstage stuff honestly

  • iOwnThatSonOfABitch

    I’m so fucking over Raw.

Women’s revolution my ass. Every Raw women’s match for the past idk how long has had 2-3 commercial breaks for not even a 10 min match.

How come we can have cruiserweights, tag teams, and meaningless men’s matches constantly draggggggg for 12+ min but not even for ONE WOMANS SLOT ON THE WHOLE THREE HOURS

I’m just TIRED of it. We want to see the women COMPETE.

  • Hoooshi

I’m so confused with Emma not being there. Why include her in the match if you’re not going to feature her on the go home show? The best/funniest part of all this mess was Alexa trying to hang with the faces. Everything else is just meh. Can’t wait for Asuka.

Also Nia using a Samoan drop as a finisher, really girl? Is this era of weak finishers or what? Bayley, Alexa, Nia and even Emma tbh have such boring finishers.

    • Don ?

I agree on Nia. I’ve been saying for the longest that Nia should adopt Victoria’s ‘Spider’s Web’ manuever as a finisher. https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/b82ef0dd0096218ac2739362cd362bb0805a9824cdaa1ae7af637fea01a07249.gif

      • Hoooshi

She would look so badass doing this, she should do it!

        • Don ?

Ikr! Sasha and Alicia would sell the hell out of it.

      • Carolution

torrie was such a great seller.

    • Dylan Gutierrez

Wasn’t she still in Australia? I remember the announcers mentioning something along the lines of it or reading it from fans.

      • Hoooshi

Apparently she was, I’m just curious to know why.

        • Carolution

wwe is touring oz/shes doing promotional work in oz as well.

        • OJ Von Erich

She had a bit of time off to see family.

  • The bayley promo was actually pretty ace too. She does seem reinvigorated.

  • conan_kun
  • Don ?

“The 2007 fan in me wishes Mickie James was involved somehow though!”

Oh, me too. I was watching WWE Diva matches from 2007-08 a few days ago and Mickie always had loud crowd reactions when making her ring entrance. I’d say she had the loudest reactions with Maria and Kelly Kelly coming behind her. It’s just painfully sad hearing the crickets she receives now. I don’t blame the new age fans though. WWE did an awful job keeping her legacy alive when she was abruptly released in 2010.

    • DayOneISH!

They did an awful job for her return to the company too.In NXT it was great I loved the promo package she did for her match with asuka and the crowd was definitely here for it.Then on the main roster she comes back under a mask as luchadora?

Not only that but you have this very odd booking of pairing her up with Alexa bliss and these two had NO TYPE of connection what so ever. This just goes to show you how terrible creative is.This is MICKIE JAMES the same woman who defeated Trish Stratus and Lita at Wrestlemania and Survior Series two of the biggest PPVs of WWE.And you have her come back doing this crap? I hope Mickie is getting a good check for this.

      • Don ?

Yep. I felt her return was creative, but it didn’t pay off in the long run. She should have returned to RAW initially feuding with Charlotte and Sasha. Her return promo about being forgotten and erasing the Divas past would have been perfect against a heel Sasha Banks. It still could be if RAW gets their booking right.

        • DayOneISH!

Exactly you always speaking the truth!

          • DebbieWSzabo

      • TorrieTrishStacyLita

It’s so sad too. She’s definitely already a guaranteed hall of famer but this run is such a joke and hurting her bad

      • ???

        I know !

Like WTF is the point with having her return as a luchadora ? It’s fucking stupid especially at that time the SD women’s division was on fire but only screwed Mickie’s debut !

Instead of letting her return on Raw and challenge Charlotte for the Raw women’s championship we got that shit, she doesn’t even have that charisma with Alexa Bliss !

And when she returned as a heel the crowd got confused if to cheer her or not now they don’t give a shit about her .. THANKS ALOT WWE !

    • Jaded

Melina always had a large pop too

    • Jaded

And Mickie should stay away from the title. She’s had her day, let the young women have theirs

      • Don ?

True, but I feel she needs one more reign with a strong storyline before she retires from WWE. I only say that because her first run finished with no closure.

  • iOwnThatSonOfABitch

The actual thought of Paige vs Asuka has me sweating.

  • perceval

And we see why they keep putting off that Alexa vs Nia one on one PPV match.

  • trishlita721

I don’t see how this is a women’s revolution the nxt takeover matches are good and a couple Sasha vs Charlotte matches but none of it compares to 2000 to 2010 which is meant to be the bad era. I expect something to good to happen every week but its just so boring I don’t even care who has the title anymore.

    • Rosanna

2000-2006 was the golden era. For the women, the men some may call it the ruthless aggression era 2002-2008.

      • trishlita721

Absolutely I’m hoping wwe can reinvent that era to make it good again.

  • Rosanna

Bayley shouldn’t have attacked Alexa post match since she’s a face and seeing as they boo’d her after she did that. If she’s the top baby face she needs to act like one. There’s different types of face but since her character somewhat lacks genuinely she should have stopped Alexa.

Remember at survivor series when her and Alicia attacked the other women? ( Alicia formerly apart of team Bella who never split up ) Bayley being a top baby face and attacking another face? Shameful.

  • Rookie

    Well, that was anti-climatic.

  • Danny?

Welcome back Bayley I guess, not that I care for her but whatever. I see her taking the pin in the match so I’m okay with her being added, rather her than Emma. Emma won’t be taking the pin in order to look strong for her feud with Asuka. My fantasy booking would be for Emma to win the title and then drop it to Asuka at the PPV after TLC, I think it’s Survivor Series? Then Asuka can hold it for a while until Mickie eventually dethrones her, possibly at WrestleMaina or SummerSlam, after a lengthy feud that sees Mickie come up short but keeps fighting, ala Mickie VS Beth. But we all know that ain’t happening.

    • Litax4

I would be here for this. I don’t think any of the other women could beat Asuka other than Mickie or a returning superstar. This would be a major storyline for both women and would be an amazing Wrestlemania match.

    • OJ Von Erich

I could quite happily get behind this, then have Bayley & Alicia feud, Alexa & Dana can feud with each other, Sasha can compete on 205 against the men & Nia can feud with someone like Enzo or Hawkins…

Haha, nah, but for real your idea is great.

  • Alexa and Nia proved everyone wrong and showed they’re the money feud. Keep Bugley away.

    • Winter

Whaaaaaat? Loooool the match was a mess, nothing interesting.

  • Winter

Well I’m vey upset with Raw so I could throw a lot of negativity but it’s not necessary, with all this recently booking nothing impresses me. I just hope we can see a great match this Sunday.

  • Boring, boring, boring. I’m just sick of RAW bringing every single week the same shitty short women’s matches.

  • TorrieTrishStacyLita

    2001-2006 still >

  • I’m just glad Bayleys return got a huge pop. I’m not a fan of hers but her character is meant to be such a huge face. I’m ready for Nia to take over though. I wish they’d stop teasing us with a Nia push and just do it.
