The latest guest on the Lilian Garcia Podcast is WWE’s Bona-fied Superstar Alicia Fox!. The former Divas champion discusses her career with Lilian Garcia, detailing how she feels “embarrassed” about it. Throughout the podcast, Fox discusses her difficult upbringing with divorced parents, personal insecurities and more. Below are the highlights:

On the topic of her starting days in WWE, Alicia discusses what it was like to earn respect in the locker room, and what she learned:

“It was more of the culture in wrestling that we were educating ourselves through experience to understand and respect because wrestling’s been around forever. Wrestling in Jacksonville, like going back to my childhood, I don’t ever remember really having a time where I witnessed it or understood or saw it highlighted. I felt really insecure being around all of these very driven people that worked hard, and did their indies and this, and did their research and did their diligence to get there. I felt very insecure about whenever I had an opinion about something, or even when it comes to putting a match together, or even speaking about what I know from the experience I pulled. I’ve been in the locker room with a lot of greats – Mickie James, Melina, Gail Kim, Beth Phoenix, Katie Lea, ODB – come from a lot of experience of their own. And they also have experience from how this environment has affected them as an individual. They’ve overcome that. I’m very blessed to have been in the business early to really see what wrestling in itself, it seems like a very small bubble in a weird way, but you’re lucky to be in that bubble.”

Her family is brought up, and Fox describes the difficult life with her parents:

“My dad has seven master degrees. He is so smart, he is genius. The interesting part that makes him so stupid is the fact that he’s got all of these degrees, however, not a job, not a nothing, not s***. He’s always had the drive to go forward, but he’s also very self validating. It still bothers me, he’s still a bum. He’s still bumming around Tampa somewhere like – my dad was physically abusive to my mom, so getting a divorce was not really an option. My mom is such a beauty, and she knew, and we were close from the day I was born, in a sense of when they were going through their problems – she trusted me with that at like five, six years old, so I felt like, you know – I’m a team player – so I take friendship very serious, and I take being a friend very serious. I feel as though from that experience that I have with my mom and my dad, maybe I take it a little too serious so if I see danger I’ll just naturally… not do that.”

Garcia asks the former Divas champion if she’d seen the abuse between her parents, and she discusses one of the most memorable nights of it:

“I don’t really know if I understood at that point what I was really witnessing, so I just remember one night – my sister and I – one of the last nights we were at my house, and my mom was like, I could hear her crying in pain or sadness, or something, it was just very violent, very bad. I remember my sister and I not knowing what to do, ‘cos we shared a room – and I remember my sister and I deciding that we were gonna open the window and just start screaming for help. And ‘cos I’m a spiritual person too, I believe in God and everything else as well, it was the first time that I, for what ever reason, that my mind saw myself and my sister screaming out that window from above in a very weird, meditated state. I recall screaming out the window, it was like, we wanted so bad for somebody to come help my mom, so bad that we almost [went] into a trance. We [either] fell asleep, or the night was over, and we just eventually woke up in Florida in a weird way.”

On the topic of relationships, Foxy brings up her past with former WWE Superstar Wade Barrett, and how she can’t deal with being on the road with a partner 24/7:

“After Stu [Bennett] and I broke up, that was a mess. It was so stupid. Whatever, everyone’s watched Total Divas but no one really understands what it’s like. The thing is, I really cared about Stu a lot, and we were together quite a while. And on the road, with being together all the time, ugh. It’s just like, nah. It’s too much. You can’t be around someone that much. I don’t understand how people can do that! I’m like, “are you guys working me?” like, I don’t get it!”

The topic of her career is a big one. Alicia goes into detail about insecurities regarding her place in WWE:

“Sometimes I feel embarrassed of my career in a sense. Because sometimes when the fans come up and they’re like saying “underrated” or this or that, I never really realized until social media really popped up. Then I’m left thinking, “am I underrated?” or, like… I’m one of the only girls that don’t have any merch. Never had any merch, even when the Bella Twins and I were together it was still “Team Bella”. But I never complain about any of those things because in my head I’m like, “well, it’s okay,” you know, a lot of fluffy content thinking. But you know what? Maybe it’s not okay. But then it gets me upset and angry, ‘cos I’m thinking, “what will my next chapter look like?” – is it gonna be okay if I’m not putting food on my table, or whatever, or giving [that] my career’s at the control of someone else?”

After being asked if merch would count as her having “made it”, Foxy immediately responded with a “no,” continuing to say:

“Not at all. There’s really nothing that I feel I want or crave out of more than where I’m at. I just feel that insecure habit of comparing gets in my head and I get to work and it weighs on my shoulders, and I start feeling a little embarrassed.”

Noticing the insecurity in her guest, Garcia attempts to give Foxy some inspiring words of wisdom. She quickly takes this opportunity to ask her about being the first African American Divas champion:

“Back then I was like 24, I was a kid. I don’t think I really was able to appreciate that moment the way I would today because I didn’t really even know what was going on. I still can’t believe they’d give me the title, and still had no idea of the responsibility – how I could have taken it further. Between then and now, the experience I’ve collected, I feel like that would’ve been done a lot different. But I didn’t believe in me. Up until, probably a year ago, [I] didn’t believe in me, until I had to sit with myself and we talked it out. And the thing that I realize I was struggling the most with, is I had all these goals, all these things, but I didn’t realize that I didn’t have a very vivid, painted picture that land of milk and honey looked like. Whereas, it would’ve made the journey, and certain things along the journey easier because I would be able to identify them.”

Alicia also discusses how being in WWE validated her insecurities, joining the industry with Kelly Kelly and more. This can be listened to here.

I can see why she’d say she feels embarrassed or questions whether or not shes underrated. Her wrestling career already began with a developmental contract with WWE. She never worked the indies, never won any other titles besides the divas title, never wrestled for other promotions. Her experience and knowledge has been brought to her by her years in WWE. She’s almost like Nattie in a sense but Nattie can atleast say shes wrestled in Japan. She comes from a wrestling family and is on her second title reign. Nattie could wrestle a ripped paper bag and she’d make it look great. Sadly Alicia is underrated by us fans because we know what she can do but WWE wont let her do what she can do. TBH I would be perfectly ok if they had moved her to 205live and wrestle for the cruiserweight title. Shit if Enzo can hold it who has no wrestling talent why not let Alicia challenge for it. She’s agile and can definitely move with most of that locker room if given the chance.

  • Ugh I love her so much. She really IS underrated and underutilized, and it was also nice to hear her personal life. So inspirational.

Talented, can sell, charismatic, is still young, and sweet in real life. PUSH HER WWE!

    • Number One

Yeah, push her out the door; she can’t wrestle or do anything else

    • Number One

      You just described Dana Brooke

  • Simone Mackey

Foxy is a very good wrestler and like Summer Rae under utilized. She deserves a chance just as much as some of the women who have no business being up there getting the opportunities. I hope she gets another title run before her time is up.

    • Number One

Alicia had her chances, and she blew them. Give chances to those who actually haven’t had any, like Emma or Dana Brooke

      • Simone Mackey

No I don’t think she was given fair chance along with Emma and Summer Rae.

        • Number One

Both Alicia and Summer had their chances and blew them. Focus on women who haven’t had a chance, like Emma and Dana

  • Can’tGetNo…Stratusfaction

I love how genuinely she answered the questions. Then again, at this point, she doesn’t have much to lose if someone on the corporate end had feelings about what she said.

I like that she was honest about the fact that, basically, she doesn’t have cause for complaint because she isn’t really striving for more out of her career with WWE than what she presently has.

  • Looking Glass

Click bait headline. Completely devoid of context.

      • Looking Glass

Yeah you’ve mastered the art of copy and paste, next job the ‘Google search’.

What I meant is the article makes it sound like Alicia Fox is embarrassed of the way she’s been treated in her career when really she’s just saying she feels insecure about her place. One indicates that she is a victim of poor booking, bad gimmicks, no mic or ring time, no merch which is what fans usually think of her. The reality is she just feels like there’s such an expectation of her from the fans she’s not living up to.

It’s called reading between the lines rather than just looking to troll.

        • shumiley

She literally said she feels embarrassed… You can “read between the lines” but the headline says what she said. Try again.

          • Looking Glass

I don’t need to try, I can obviously read beyond the opening lines when she explains what she meant about being embarrassed….

  • Organization XIII

Wooow. I’m at a loss for words. She truly deserves better than what WWE has provided her

    • Number One

If she learned to wrestle, she’d get more. She’s lucky she hasn’t been released

      • Eliseo Reyes

I’d have to disagree with your comment here. She’s by far a good wrestler. Her problem is that A) while she was getting herself over in 2014 and now, she was using a gimmick that was being used by present or previous women superstars. While she added a little spontaneity into it, it wasn’t enough to get her over, because AJ lee had the best presentation as the crazy girl. So in a way, it felt as that women were limited to using very few gimmicks to get themselves over. However, now that other women have stepped into the scene, it just made her quite irrelevant because the women that were coming onto the roster had a larger than life character, and by all means the hype of game to give those women the attention they needed.

I think her flaw is, while having the wrestling, she’s missing a certain charisma that will get her over, and maybe a lot of it has to do with her insecurities, but the blame isn’t solely on her. WWE has a lot to be blamed, because they haven’t given all the women the platform to get their characters over, other than the ones who are constantly contending for the title.

But yeah, I’d consider Alicia Fox to be a Top Tier wrestler, and to a certain way a ring general like Nattie is.

      • Simone Mackey

        She’s a good ass wrestler

        • Number One

          No she isn’t

        • Kyle

She’s a good wrestler but she always does the same 5 moves.

          • Raekon

She does only the moves the wwe allows her to do. There are always moveset restrictions in the wwe so not everyone is doing the same moves.
She Jobs in most of her matches too so she is barely allowed to get any offence anyway.

          • KatyaMenelli

That’s the only moves she’s allowed to do as she’s always putting someone else over. What more can she do?

          • Number One

How about work a match without botching. You NEVER see the Bellas botching. Or the Horsewomen. Or Nia. Or Carmella. Or Nattie. Or Mickie. Or Naomi. Or even Lana

  • Wrestling.fan.from.France

You know, I think it’s quite concerning that she only realized that her career was indeed… “embarrassing” when fans started to put it in her face and to tell her how much her worth isn’t being recognized the right way.

She’s a great worker in the ring. Truth be told, she is indeed a very good worker and anybody doubting that is delusional but it’s so sad to hear that such a talented young lady has so much insecurities to the point where she can’t even fight for herself. WWE can be very hard and if you are not tough enough for this world, it’s going to be hard to make it and let alone survive.

Nonethless, it’s a very interesting interview because honestly, let’s be real, that mindset she has when it comes to her insecurities coming from the fact that she didn’t came from the indies and therefore, she doesn’t feel like she has the right to do certain things or that she even belong is something that may happen more frequently than we think. Now it’s all about overcoming that…

    • FOXY & FLAWLESS BOSS

Just the way people glamorize that type of thinking on sites like these alone tells me that she definitely has felt that pushback in the actual locker room. It sucks.

  • Don ?

Wow, this was a very interesting read! Alicia Fox has always appeared content with her role in WWE so this surprises me. I never would’ve guessed of her personal life was like that as well. It’s a little reminder that our Superstars are more than entertainers, they’re real people too. I wish Alicia Fox the best in her remaining years in WWE. I always appreciated her her selling. Sometimes it can look a little overkill but she makes a lot of moves look very impactful.

I need to shift gears though for a minute. I was intending to type this on the “Week Ending” article but it appears there wasn’t one for this week. This articles feels appropriate enough. Anyways, Jillian Hall’s shoot interview with Vince Russo was released on YT a few days ago. The interview was originally conducted in March of this year I believe and I’m unsure if Diva Dirt reported it (probably not) but I can give a few bits Jillian mentioned that stuck out to me for those aren’t interested in watching the interview.

    https://youtu.be/HsF98izXXsc

    – Jillian didn’t like the growth/mole Vince gave her for the Fixer gimmick. She felt it wasn’t a great way to debut someone for the first time on television as she’s worked hard physically and cosmetically for the opportunity to be a WWE Diva. I personally feel it benefited her because it easily garnered heel heat plus individualized her character from the other Smackdown Divas, but at the same time I see where Jillian is coming from because Amy Weber had the exact same gimmick as Jillian earlier that year and Amy was never stuck with a growth, deformity, or handicap on her person.

    – Jillian felt “98% sure” when the Boogeyman ate Jillian’s growth she was going to be fired right after. Her reasoning was when she asked the writer’s before the segment what direction her character was going post-molectomy they had no clear answer. Jillian says Vince spoke to her after the segment and told her and I quote: “Your acting was so good that it saved your job.”

    – Jillian reveals that she herself created her singing gimmick. Jillian tells she grew bored of having Best Body contests with Ashley, Kristal, and Michelle McCool at house shows instead of wrestling so she decided to sing while removing her robe truly believing she sounded like Britney Spears. The other Divas informed her she actually sounded terrible and the gimmick stuck as everyone backstage loved it.

So what do you guys think? Honestly, the entire interview was so depressing. Jillian seems very embarrassed with her WWE career like Alicia as she sacrificed a lot to become a Diva. She unfortunately doesn’t speak on her Divas Championship win which still leaves a sour taste in my mouth to this day. Sable and Sasha Banks were briefly mentioned too.

    • iloveTorrie

I loved Jillian’s singing gimmick. I had an idea that when she won the divas championship, she could’ve had a performance the next week. It could’ve been this extravagant show and she could’ve had Layla and maybe Eve since she was a dancer as well in it as her dancers. She really could’ve went far if they gave her an actual run with the title.

      • Don ?

That’s hilarious. Haha I always thought it’d be funny if she were to turn babyface again her gimmick would change to a singer that actually could sing. I too wish they gave her an actual run with the title.

    • Dionte Brown

I was waiting to hear about the divas championship bullshit. But Vince was so damn annoying and kept talking.

    • jbrizzy

I’m so glad you posted this because I had no clue about the shoot interview. Thank you. Jillians career ended up trash do to the writers. I remember I popped hard when she won the title. It would have been so refreshing to see her as champion, and they just snatched away. Smh

  • Paul

Ive always enjoyed her in ring work. I really believe she was under utilized. Very athletic. Really just flat out stunning. There should have been more they did with her but for whatever reason they didnt.

  • totallyneccessary #NAOorNEVER

I’d Love for her to transition into a mastermind of a serious Faction… something creative that we haven’t seen from an African-American Woman in the business. She still 11 years in has so much untapped potential and She’s earned her stripes

    • Typical Heel

Maybe us fans can help her come up with a good gimmick and get her to convince wwe to use it

  • I’m a huge fan of Alicia Fox and for some time now, I want her to leave WWE and go work on the indies. It’s not like she can’t make money. There are so many companies she could work now.

Imagine her in Japan wrestling against Io Shirai, Hana Kimura or Toni Storm. Playing some twisted, dark character in Lucha Underground or just putting on five stars matches in Shimmer or GFW.

There are so many places she can prove to the wrestling world that she can hang with the new generation.

    • Gato_wiska

Gail Kim said she wanted Alicia to be in Impact and she will beg them to Push her if she moves there.

      • Eliseo Reyes

Apparently they are really good friends outside WWE and I heard the same thing too. She praised Alicia Fox .

      • Bobby Bardot

I’m sure people would LOVE to see her dethrone Sienna lol especially since she is the better more charismatic wrestler out of the two

    • Jaded

      Nice one

    • Number One

Lucha Underground is way too good to take Botch Queen Alicia

  • Aye Mate

Alicia Fox caught my eye as a serious wrestler in 2012, after her rumoured push was nixed after a disastrous clash with Beth Phoenix. The IWC bashed her as unsafe and untalented, but her answer to that was countless showings (mostly on the B shows) demonstrating that she was, in fact, the real deal. She’s still young enough to have a year or two of being a strong contender for a title; I just wish someone backstage would allow Foxy to tap into that potential.

On a personal level, this interview really resonated with my own upbringing and it made me feel more of a connection to her. Lilian Garcia has done such a masterful job with these interviews.

    • Carolution

Alicia is only 31 she can go for another 9-10 years if she wanted to.

      • Jaded

On another promotion please, WWE will job her out till there is nothing left

  • DayOneISH!

She could’ve been a 2 time divas champ if they actually gave it to her in 2014 when she was doing the crazy stuff after her matches. She had actually something going for her then and the crowd was actually into it.But of course they had to give AJ and Paige two useless runs with the belt instead.

I don’t know about Alicia it seems like she’s just always stuck on second base. Its not her fault or anything but with all these girls these days becoming 4 time women’s champion so damn quickly it would be nice if her and Emma can become women’s champion at least once just to see what they can do with it.

    • Michael Max

I feel like if she ever went to Smackdown, it would rejuvenate her career.

      • DayOneISH!

I agree just look at nattie so if she can win then Alicia can too.

    • Kam Kalambay

she could still today. They need her to win again

      • DayOneISH!

        She can! Justice for Alicia!

    • Raekon

Alicia and Aksana had the foxsana thing going on after they read it from the fans and started a small feud with each other. Unfortunately Aksana got released right after so everything stopped for Alicia.

      • Bobby Calloway

According to Aksana, there was meant to be a feud planned between them where she would get a face turn and they’d explore more of Alicia’s character. Then right after they filmed their first match, she got told she was released.

        • Francisco Baguer

Whats going on? Why aren’t updating anything on Lethalwow? If you aren’t going post then just shut the website down.

        • Number One

Yeah, the wrong half of Foxsana got released; the one who could wrestle and never botched moves

  • Jo9834

The WWE seems very much like a political playground of sorts and if you can’t play the ‘game’ then you certainly won’t get ahead. Alicia seems too aloof or uncertain to be involved in any of the above. Its so sad to hear her childhood story and also of her insecurities, I totally resonate with that however its so important to work towards valuing yourself in life and as a professional.

Alicia probably will retire in quiet fashion in the next couple of years, the sad thing is, she hasn’t really done anything noteworthy or major during her entire career.

    • DayOneISH!

For me Alicia still hasn’t found that one feud that really puts her on the map.Like she hasn’t found her lita to Trish or her Sasha to Charlotte. No personal feuds just generic storylines that got her nowhere.

      • Michael Max

The sad thing is it wasn’t really her fault.. she was never really given an opportunity to be in a high profile feud, she was just filler for Paige and a filler champion for Melina. I think Fox and Melina could have had a great feud if they invested more in her.

  • Welp, all of this is quite… sad.

  • TAYNARA CUNTI.

She’s above average inside the ring, and has given 1/3 of her life to WWE!! Push the girl.

I think. Foxy is great, but she can atleast request a theme music change for starters and change up her outfits. Maximize her moments. Look at Trish, she changed her style constantly, and branded herself with Stratusfaction and name puns. Alicia had become complacent much like other women before her. Alicia Fox needs a desperate overhaul and she needs to start with a new theme song. How hard is it to request one? It’s not like shed be rude about it, but little things like that, that she can do irks me because she hasn’t and it’s been YEARS! The girl can sell and wrestle good, but she is all thumbs when it comes to developing her own character.

Look also at Melina and Gail Kim whom were ahead of their time, creating a storyline for themselves on Superstars and engaging the commentators to talk about it. It didn’t amount to much because they left shortly after, but as a casual fan at that time I wanted to know more of why Gail Kim was a horrible friend?

If Emma can blow bubbles, get fired, rehired, turned into Emmalina and then go to evil Emma and have numerous theme song changes, what isn’t Foxy doing right? I’m not a huge fan, but I like her. So if there really are die hard fans of hers here and she tweets back, how about tweeting her to do character overhaul and theme change. Get her attention before her boat docks and she’s soon another girl who left in ashes because she was underutilized.

Apologize for the rant, but help her out if your her fans.

      • Number One

Comparing Alicia to Emma is dumb. Emma is an immensely talented woman who is getting no chances. Alicia is an incompetent botch queen who got handed chance after chance, and blew all of them

        • NY

You must love living in the past? She’s improved drastically and Emma has blown several chances too, she hasn’t really ever taken off has she? Didn’t she blow the Emmalina character?

          • MyleneCruz

Never forget her ass was stealing from Wal-Mart as well and just about lost her job when she was in the middle of being pushed.

          • IconicTrio

And whilst I’m a fan of Emma’s she did also kinda blow it with the Emmalina character too. Not her fault, she just wasn’t suited to it but it was an opportunity nontheless.

Foxy hasn’t really had a major push in five years. She was last pushed only to be fed to Paige. But she does need an overhaul. I think she needs to be more like she was in 2009, that pants wearing, ruthless mute chick.

          • NY

Exactly! Foxy is a company girl and she’s highly regarded backstage. She puts people over and does alot of publicity for the company. She never refuses wherever she’s sent. The thing is, like Mickie James and Asuka and Randy Orton among others, they’re still good looking they’re still great workers and Foxy needs to know and give herself credit and do something about it.

          • Number One

No, Emma never blew any chances, mainly because she never had any. Alicia was given several chances, and blew all of them

          • Raekon

Alicia were given the title once to be a transitional Champion and that’s it. Other than that she were never given any real chances so please stop all your hate cause it starts getting VERY childish and annoying to say the least.

          • Number One

She had plenty of real chances and choked badly

          • Raekon

Bullshit. The crazy character she used or all the other ones were herself trying to stand out, yet they never gave her a real feud or a title run after the one in 2010.

          • Number One

Because she provided nothing in that title run; that’s why no one remembers it

          • NY

I’m not hating on Emma because I like her, but saying she didn’t blow the Emmalina character is delusional

          • Number One

No, it’s fact. She didn’t blow the character. It was WWE continuing to screw Emma over

          • NY

How in the world do you figure that when she was constantly promoted with vignettes, which created interest and anticipation for her return?? She came out screeching, like Maria Kanellis did having an orgasm when Trish beat her up, and basically refuses to embrace the character. She might’ve gotten farther than she and now. Just saying.

          • Number One

“Screeching”? Boy, is your memory bad. Emma was perfect; but WWE decided to do away with the gimmick to further punish and sabotage Emma

          • NY

I can’t with you. After defending Eva Marie, another who was given opportunities and blew them all… you’ve lost it. That ridiculous… https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/5a6245d48059560813c8c1b4f3a954358bf538ae1987398e71e9b1e7aa5a310d.jpg

You can’t name ONE opportunity Eva Marie was given. Alicia had plenty of them and blew them all

          • NY

I didn’t care much for her but I remember the All Red Everything crap…she freaking wore white. https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/e3b0ec3e5d676c3b52fbdd925f07131a08cccc809605864ca31d0ead7492cf24.gif

          • KatyaMenelli

You have Eva confused with Alicia clearly then.

          • Number One

Alicia had chances and blew them. Eva never had a fair chance. If you watched WWE, you’d agree

          • KatyaMenelli

Been watching since 98′. Eva had WAAAAAY more chances than Alicia in her time with WWE than Eva, and Eva doesn’t even give a fuck about the company. I like no one has improved with anything you said about Alicia. LOL literally no one.

          • Number One

Yet they all agree with me because unlike you, I watch WWE. You don’t. If you did, you’d agree with me

          • KatyaMenelli

Bitch, how are you going to tell me what I watch and don’t watch? WTF who made you God? And no one has agreed with you. You’re literally the ONLY person so shut the fuck up.

          • Number One

Everyone who reads my comments agrees with me

          • KatyaMenelli

“Eva never had a fair chance” Biggest lie I ever heard in my life. Jojo is one person who never had a fair chance. Now I know you’re racist.

          • Number One

Ummm, I’m Black, #1, and Eva isn’t White, #2. Eva never had a fair chance. Alicia was given a forgettable title run and several chances after that, and botched all of them

          • KatyaMenelli

Never said Eva wasn’t white. And learn the definition of botch before using it, retard.

          • Number One

Botch is when you perform a move incorrectly, something Alicia and Summer did WAAAY too many times. None of the Horsewomen ever botched moves. Same goes for Emma, Dana, Carmella, Nattie, Mickie, Naomi, and ESPECIALLY the Bellas. Eva didn’t either

          • Number One

And you called me a racist, so you DID assume that Eva’s White

          • Number One

Actually, you are hating on Emma. Emma should have had TWO championship reigns by now, but WWE’s too busy sabotaging her, just like they did to poor Eva Marie

  • Whew witness Alicia in her younger years putting on a highlight reel! Before white trash cracker hateful fans had planted doubt in her head regarding her skills. (Same way yall try with Naomi but miserably fail bc she don’t care.)

    https://i.giphy.com/media/bDFuJedzd2k0g/giphy.gif

    • Jaded

I respect Naomi for that, she never regressed, she never gave up.

    • Mark?

Let’s not compare Alicia and Naomi, please. Alicia is a far better wrestler.

      • Number One

        Said no one ever

        • KellyAJNaomi#Slay

I love Alicia too but let’s be clear now

    • jbrizzy

      Say it again!

    • Number One

      Yet another Alicia botch

      • Raekon

So doing her single leg Dropkick is a botch to you? Are you THAT blind or are you just typing for the shake of typing?

        • Number One

          She missed the kick

  • A?.

Oh hell naw, I won’t tolerate this! I don’t wanna see her get hurt, I hate wwe. So many underrated women like her just have to sit back and watch how the same people get chances over and over while they work as hard as them, if not harder. She deserves better after everything she has done for them.

  • Rosanna

It’s crazy because I had a dream that she was raw women’s champion. I’m a huge fox fan being the only African American “ diva “ then it really pulled me too her. I want the best for her and wwe should want the best for her as well. I don’t want her to leave because I want see the side I see of her in wwe. She’s already expressed she’s would never go to TNA when Gail asked her.

She deserves the raw women’s championship a couple of times she’s the longest tenure womens wrestler.

This actually makes me sad she set all the goals for her and there not falling through.

We really need to get together and make wwe recognize her.

  • Mase Will

This broke my heart. Alicia has been one those female wrestlers that have just been there. Never had the chance of opportunity to shine. Feels uninspiring to hear someone say they feel embarrassed about their career. Cheer up Foxy

    • IconicTrio

… At least she’s done better than Rosa did…

      • KellyAJNaomi#Slay

        Everyone did better than Rosa

        • Number One

Yet even Rosa wrestled better than Alicia

      • Raekon

Actually she didn’t. Rosa was a Champion in OVW for longer than Foxy on the main roster and Rosa was also the queen of FCW. They had good matches together in the developmental and they were both very talented and promising.
When they brought them both on the main roster though they used Rosa immediately as a jobber (apprentice role like Dana Brooke) and a Valet/Manager since then. Foxy had a similar fate in the beginning (Managing) but she were allowed to have a few small feuds and pick up a few wins here and there.
All in all both were wasted for the most part with the only difference that Alicia improved much more in the ring while Rosa weren’t allowed to wrestle on the main roster the same as she did in the developmental (99% of her moveset got left down there) and after she got abused by her fiancee and started drinking everything went downhill for her.

        • IconicTrio

Rosa was only champ out of lack of competition and inactivity. She never really defended the title often beyond one successful defense against Katie Lea. I can’t comment on her FCW days since I was on WWE hiatus at that point.

Rosa never evolved like Fox did for those reasons perhaps. I mean I can’t offer anything in her defense since even before all the messy stuff with Haayes she seemed to be pretty poor in the ring. Fox wasn’t ever bad as much as she was dangerous.

What I’m saying is in WWE terms she’s recognised as superior to a lot of former female employees. She doesn’t have that much to be embarrassed about.

          • Raekon

The hayes rumours had to do with tiffany since the beginning but some fans stupidly applied them to Rosa only because she was a jobber and everyone of them though that the wwe would release her if she wouldn’t do such things (which wasn’t true either since she was a sweet Person and very liked by Vince and others). At the time they were saying These things she was already engaged to her fiancee and happy until the abuse started and she found out that he had a second fiancee in a other state which made her start drinking and getting worse overtime.
Wouldn’t see have all These obstacles, I think she would had been much better because she had the Passion and was good in her beginnings.
Don’t understand the “lack on competition” you are talking about cause at that time OVW was filled with female Talent (angelina, ODB, Alicia, Beth, Jillian, among many others).

          • IconicTrio

Because the bookers never had her defend the title. ODB was in TNA by this point, as was Angelina, Katie Lea was in the process of graduating, Beth and Jillian already had. I can’t remember any women’s matches really taking place during that period actually.

So she never slept with Haayes then? P.S I never actually mentioned him once, don’t try to drag me for that lol.

Maybe, but the point still stands, she had perhaps one watchable match. On a personal level I felt for her and liked her personality on TD but she really was more suited to the managerial roles she had judging her only on the performances I saw.

  • That hurt my heart. I’ve always liked Fox, and felt she had the look, talent, and charisma to be over, but was always overlooked, and I can respect her not wanting to ruffle feathers, but I wish she would have fought for herself more. She has so much she can still offer.

  • Vito

this made me so upset…. she is arguably the BEST female talent the WWE has had in a while, her in ring athleticism, ring psychology, selling abilities, mic abilities, acting, surpasses all the women and even most men.. PUSH ALICIA… GIVE HER THE TITLE

    • Maybe we need to bombard WWE with a few catchy Alicia Fox hashtags.

      • Michael Max

“Sly like a Fox” “Outfoxed” easy, merch would be easy but they prolly think it won’t sell since they barely use her.

        • Typical Heel

Or “What the Fox say?” Back when that song was popular lol

        • IconicTrio

          “Always outnumbered, never outfoxed”

Hey, it would work if she was babyface.

          • KellyAJNaomi#Slay

            Love it

      • Vito

        i 100% agree

    • Jaded

    https://media.giphy.com/media/12H7DHPo2J7e3S/giphy.gif

Honestly, WWE has done her so wrong, its sometimes heart breaking to watch her perform. She gives her ALL just to lose in 3 minute matches on Superstars if shes even lucky to appear. I’m just hoping she will be drafted to SD one day..

    • Number One

It’s her own fault for wrestling so badly and bringing nothing to the table. She’s lucky to still be employed

      • Exotic

        stfu

        • Number One

          Truth hurts, doesn’t it?

          • Exotic

            stfu and no

          • Number One

Alicia is the worst women’s wrestler in WWE; the only push she deserves is one right out the door, which should have happened five years ago. She makes Rosa Mendes look like Trish Stratus in the ring

          • KatyaMenelli

I wish it was truth, but fortunately, it’s not. Sorry to crush your dreams, retard. You’re literally all over this comment sections saying the same thing with NO ONE agreeing with you LOL sad.

          • Number One

Actually, you’re the only one DISAGREEING with me

          • KatyaMenelli

No, not at all. I’m getting upvotes while you aren’t sir. Literally this whole comment has been against you. Just look.

          • Number One

You only have one upvote and it’s your own. I have at least 50 upvotes. You’re the only one disagreeing with me

          • KatyaMenelli

            50 upvotes? Bitch, where?

          • Number One

Are you blind? Do you not know how to count?

          • KatyaMenelli

I see no upvotes to you, dumbass. Rest of who? Rest of people agreeing with me? because that’s all that is visible in this whole comment section. You are one delusional bastard.

          • Number One

No one agrees with you. They all agree with me. I received fifty more upvotes in the last hour

          • Number One

But continue remaining on that proverbial island

          • Number One

The only thing sad is that you’re the only one disagreeing. You’re not woke like the rest of us

  • Dillon Nash

This is so sad. She seems so happy when she appears that I always felt that she was content with her spot in the company. I’m rooting for you Foxy!

  • Nicola Byrne

Over 10 years with the company and has done sweet bug all!! one miserable title reign that last under 2 months! send her down to NXT and get proper training done.

    • Eliseo Reyes

I wouldn’t say she needs training in the wrestling department. She’s by far one of the top tier wrestlers for WWE (Women’s Division) at the moment. I can say however, she may need to think of a character that she resonates with and pursue something with it. She has spunk, i’ll give her that, but i can see where her insecurities come from. I think with more practice, i’m sure she’ll get somewhere.

      • Typical Heel

I agree, her wrestling is fine, but she needs to think of a new gimmick like Naomi did

    • Robann

She doesn’t need training. She needs to be repackaged like Naomi. Training is the LAST thing she needs, she’s a damn good wrestler already.

      • Number One

No she isn’t. She’s had years to improve and she keeps getting worse. Fire her

      • Nicola Byrne

She does need training, she botches far too much

  • I love her. I always have. the fact that she doesn’t feel secure enough to push for more out of her career is saddening. She obviously deserves better, but fear is holding her back. it’s heartbreaking

  • Gato_wiska

Alicia is suppose to have a push and suppose to be the one to beat Beth Phoenix but the “Foxy Holiday” incident happened where she botched and bruised Beth who was dating CM Punk then. She got depushed after that incident. She improved since then.

I wish Raw women will hot potato the title before Asuka enters the title scene. Not only it will make her feud with former champions. It will give women a chance to shine before the Asukapocalypse.

  • The saddest part about this interview is that she’s literally the ONLY women’s wrestler on the roster that HASN’T had merchandise yet (I don’t count Summer Rae since she went back in her coffin after the Mae Young Classic). Hell, even the Basic Duo in NXT has merchandise. They could’ve given her a shirt at least; especially after 9 years on the main roster.

    • Joseph

They don’t have official merch they made those shirts themselves.

    • Tunasha

Out of curiosity, has Mickie got merchandise too?

      • Mickie had hats a while back (around the “Piggy James” era). She only has a shirt from TNA/GFW.

    • ABC_1990

I dont think Dana Brooke, Tamina or Lana have merch either

      • – Lana no longer wrestles.

        – Tamina at least got Team B.A.D. shirts.

        – Forgot about Dana, but Alicia has been on the roster MUCH longer.

    • ???

I love Alicia too and she deserves it, but calling Peyton and Billie “Basic” ..? Sorry but have you watched them on the indies ?

      • Actually I have. Billie only has ONE move that’s worth anything; and WWE will most likely not let her use it because it looks too similar to Lana’s finisher. Peyton has better finishers than that God-awful suplex; but she needs to start using them. Hell, even her Legsweep DDT looks better than that basic suplex. IMO, Peyton has more potential of the two, but both need SERIOUS repackaging ASAP.

        • ???

I agree about Peyton’s part , her suplex finisher is horrible damn it’s not even worth to be a signature!

She should use the Widow’s Peak as her finisher, or any impactful move.

          • I actually prefer her “Koji Clutch” as her main finisher since I think it would suit her “Venus Fly Trap” gimmick (if you can call it that since they’ve put very little effort into developing a solid gimmick for her). If she needs a secondary finisher, her “Legsweep DDT” should do. Granted I’m not the biggest fan of DDT finishers unless the look unique and/or impactful.

    • Raekon

She had a puppet like Rosa, Tamina and the others didn’t she?
I think this is the only type of merch these 3 had through the years.

  • WOW-

Sad to hear, Foxy has always been one of my favorites

  • Ryan Stratus

Alicia deserves a major push on Raw not smackdown. She has more athletic ability than Sasha. Give her that crazy gimmick with a new entrance. I’d like to see her take out Nia Jax for a championship win in the future. She would be so over. As for Emma she just needs a whole new gimmick with a personality bc I’m not feeling her gimmick any more.

  • -V

I love how Foxy is always so humble, yet she always delivers on interviews. She has so much talent, it’s sad that the company never realized that & they pick other women who seem “better” & think they will deliver more than her.

& while we are on this topic, I will never stop asking myself the same question as to why WWE sees something more in a person like “Bayley” when her finisher is a basic move (and so is her moveset, obviously), yet someone who is innovative & is a helluva seller like Alicia has to stay in the back… that’s just pathetic booking & logic.

    • Joseph

You don’t need a fancy movelist just look at The Revival they are a tag team that wrestle like a 80’s NWA Heel tag team.

      • -V

honestly tho even Eva had better move set than Bayley

  • Crazy. #RIPMae

This is so sad. Alicia deserves so much more than what she’s given. She honestly needs another reign before she leaves. Just give the girl a chance already! Why can’t she bring back her meltdown gimmick? It’ll definitely add a layer of excitement to RAW and the women’s division and if they have plans to continue making her lose then the meltdowns would be perfect for her. And on top of that she got reaction when she did those.

    • Number One

No she didn’t. Crowd doesn’t care about Alicia because they know how basic and talentless she is

      • Crazy. #RIPMae

She did though. What show were you watching? You’re delusional bye not wasting my time

        • Number One

Same show you were; no chants for Alicia

          • Crazy. #RIPMae

Where did I say chants? I said REACTION as in crowd booing her. But since you’re on chants, she had the entire arena chanting Alicia before

  • GameChanger #HBIC#GoldenGodess

Why Alicia acting like she cant just leave and Gail wont be waiting to hand her a contract in Impact. The treatment and how she’s been utilized is an utter shame.

    • All Eyes On Me

The money is too good, maybe?

      • GameChanger #HBIC#GoldenGodess

No money is that good, to sacrifice happiness but that’s just my opinion

  • Darryl lee

Her career is pretty damn embarrassing. She’s the dolph ziggler of the womens division. If she knows that her wrestling career isn’t gonna go far in wwe, go somewhere else and be a bigger star there. Just look at Cody.

    • KatyaMenelli

lol Perfect analogy sadly. She literally is the Dolph Ziggler of the women’s division.

      • Number One

No, Dolph can actually wrestle. Alicia botches five times per match

  • Lady Victoria

Unforunately she was also a product of bad timing and coming up during the worse times to ever be a female wrestler. During that time the women’s division was lackluster and very political. Beth Phoenix kept women’s division afloat and Mickie James was being pushed out cause she gained weight. Melina was released for he spat with Trish. Gail Kim was a non factor and given no push. The talent pool was thin and nobody she could really gain from.

    • Trish herself confirmed her and Melina didn’t have any confrontations. Here you go again believing Meltzer’s BS. Trish’s problem was with Morrison giving her the cold shoulder. Melina herself said she found the rumors of her wanting to be in the match stupid because she was a heel. Trish and Melina still communicate on Twitter and IG here and there.

      • Izzy4lw

it surprises me how so many people believe that Melina was this horrible person backstage rivaling Sable in terms of entitled bitchiness – Melina may have ruffled some feathers, but I don’t see her being half the bitch people claim.

        • Most of the people Melina had problems with according to dirt sheets, have nothing but sweet things to say about her. Most of the rumors about her are false.

          • Izzy4lw

The only reason I half believed any of the rumors was because other than her attitude, there was no reason to release Melina when not 6 months prior she was the most over woman on the roster. It was so incredibly confusing and it sucked because Melina was my favorite from that post Golden Era group.

          • What pissed me off is how they made her go from number one contender to jobber overnight just because she went on Twitter after slapping Natalya, and reminded them she was in character. Especially since Stephanie’s every other tweet is “Mother of three girls in real life, anthropologist but I am a villain on WWE TV”. Pathetic.

  • Izzy4lw

Alicia Fox is one of those women who could have been great had it not been for the fact that there was always another ‘It’ girl – whether it was Melina/Mickie/Beth/McCool, AJ/Paige/Nikki/Brie, or Alexa/Charlotte/Sasha/Bayley, she’s always seemed to be just outside the ‘big 4’ and therefore lacked in the big pushes that the aforementioned women got. At this juncture, the best thing for her would be to go to SD; while the show has an issue building legitimate stars, it would allow her more of an opportunity to win the title and add a notch to a career that held such promise. It isn’t too late for Foxy, but she is going to need someone to give her a chance backstage.

  • TorrieTrishStacyLita

She should be pushed or some of the others. It’s a damn shame the past few years she’s been sitting in the shadows. I don’t understand how the WWE signs these people and completely ignore their talent, growth, tenure and choose they’re few superstars to push while the others sit in the back week after week

    • KatyaMenelli

and then they’re not even better than the superstars they have sitting in the back at that. If that’s going to happen, at at least have them be better workers.

  • Divo’s Champion

    <3 Alicia Fox

  • ARGirl1011

This is so sad, she deserves so much better…

  • George

She deserves so much more, at least she’s hapoy the money ?

  • Kiana Taylor

Foxy really deserves more with alot of the veteran women finally getting their shine,i don’t why she hasn’t yet, she should’ve won the title from paige during her whole crazy gimmick

  • Kelly/Asuka???RainbowGoddess!

I hated when she was a member of Team Bella. She was just the awkward 3rd wheel and WWE didn’t even try to incorporate her gimmick/name into Team Bella. And she wasn’t included in the team bella merch. Its time Foxy headed to Smackdown, if Nattie can be champ again after 6-7 years, then so can Alicia. Alicia Fox is one of WWE hardest workers over the years. Before Nattie’s title win, between Foxy and Nattie, at least Nattie had a t-shirt over the years.

    • Miriam

      I agree 100%

  • Kelly/Asuka???RainbowGoddess!

Sadly the match that killed Alicia’s push back in late 2011 :( I was interested in selling where this went.

    • PYM #TakeOverSmackdown

      For injuring Beth

    • All Eyes On Me

No shade and I love Beth to death, but when she “injured” (I don’t like that term I think that was an accident) Candice they don’t depush her like Foxy :(

      • Kelly/Asuka???RainbowGoddess!

Not just Beth but many others as well like Seth Rollins with breaking John Cena’s nose…and he didn’t lose any steam and his push.

      • Number One

Because Beth doesn’t botch. Alicia botches at least three times per match

        • Raekon

Beth botched quite a few times aswell. It can happen to anyone.

          • Number One

Only Summer, Alicia, and Alexa botch. The rest of the women don’t

    • jbrizzy

Ah yes,the Foxy Holiday match. Love Alicia but it was one of,if not the only cringey moment in her career

    • KatyaMenelli

      #1 Trend Worldwide Alicia Fox

  • Marlon Eric

Damn, this interview sounds so deep and interesting

  • Carolution

I’m just glad shes stuck it out through thick and thin in wwe. shes out lasted everyone and is one of their top female talents its just foxy isn’t utilised probably.
shes only 31 and has a decade of being in wwe so they still have time to repackage or just turn her crazy and have give her a massive push to the title. I feel like Alicia should be on smackdown anyway.

  • All Eyes On Me

This is so sad, even women like Alicia freakin Fox can be so insecure about herself :(

  • C Mack

Rooting for Foxy now that I know she wants more for herself!

  • mckenzie

I’ve been a fan of Alicia Fox since her debut and has not changed since. Even with all the other women being pushed she always sparked my interest way more.

  • ralfikh

Wwe know she can deliver thats y she been use to let other women over.
She need a great n memorable feuds including the title b4 she retired.

  • mckenzie
    • Kelly/Asuka???RainbowGoddess!

And she always reinvented her look over the years. Never looking stale.

      • Aye Mate

Alicia and Nattie switched up their looks so many times over their careers.

      • Michael Max

And this is in my opinion, the best shes ever looked. This is my favorite weave of hers, and I love that she reincorporated the leopard print into her attires.

  • Allyn

This made me happy and sad all at the same time, I love that she got a platform to express her true feelings, I know some people on here were saying that she is just content with her position but that is clearly not the case. Unfortunately though all of this will fall on deaf ears because wwe doesn’t see her the way we see her. If anyone needs to go to smack down it’s this girl right here! She just needs a new start with fresh writing and the only place that will give her that is smack down.

  • FOXY & FLAWLESS BOSS

This is so real and so raw. Firstly, shoutout to Lilian for giving the women of WWE an outlet like this where it’s run by a homegrown female talent herself and this obviously went deep. Love Foxy… been a stan since 2006 OVW Victoria Crawford days and I’m proud to see where she’s come through some much strange diversity.

  • vdcvt

Damn Foxy is so raw with this. It is a bit heartbreaking that someone of her talent and calibre gets the horrible booking she’s received. She consistently delivers. I really hope Foxy gets another chance, even by moving to SD. Maybe even if something blossoms out of her incident with Emma tonight. Foxy moves better than ever in the ring, and she still has plenty to give.

I’ve always felt some weird connect wit Foxy but I never knew how much in common we had til this interview. I kind of feel hurt when she say she embarrassed by her career. I’ve admire this lady since she walked through the doors of OVW. To me she’s always been a remarkable asset to the women’s division in WWE. It’s a shame she doesn’t get all her due in WWE. Instead of AJ or Nikki Bella holding the title for decades Alicia could’ve had her a reign. How about giving Foxy one of this title wins over Sasha since home girl can’t keep her title. Where’s her merch? The fashion doll is cute tho….. But can baby girl get a center stage storyline?

So I guess those people who said she seems ‘happy to be there’ were both correct yet incorrect. I guess she felt she was lucky to even have a place and never felt she could match up to the other women.

If given the chance and if she got a few new moves and sorted her lack of self belief I don’t see why she couldn’t be wrestling 15 minute high octane matches like the 4HW etc. She never got a chance to do any of that. Neither did Naomi for a long time but look at how far she’s come when they gave her the green light.

  • Maddox

Atleast she inspired Ariana (damn i can’t remember her name)

    • Michael Max

      You mean Ariane/Cameron?

      • Maddox

        Yea lol

  • John Wilson

She is by far getting hosed by WWE. I love Alexa but she better than Foxy? I say no! However, witnessing her behavior on Diva’s Reality Show she may have brought some of her problems on herself.

  • mckenzie

Your a veteran. Your beautiful. You have one of longest tenures in the company. Your on more than one network. You have a lot of fans still. You have a lot to be proud of.

I relate to get on so many levels,I pray that the WWE takes another chance in her being the top girl. Once thing she said that stuck to me hard is ” I’m just surviving, there is no goal, what is my goal “? So sad and I feel the same way at 25. She deserves so much more

  • EYECON

I love Foxy but in order for her to get that second chance at redemption she needs to go to Smackdown

  • Number One

If I wrestled as bad as Alicia does, I’d be embarrassed, too. Seriously, how is she still employed?! Alicia brings absolutely nothing to the division, no one remembers her undeserved title run, and she is an absolute botch queen; makes Cameron look like Trish Stratus. Alicia should have been released four years ago.

    • Windyhawaii

You’re gonna have to do a better job than that if you want people to believe you’re not trolling.

      • Number One

But wrestling fans agree with me, so…

  • GEO

I love Lilian’s interviews because they get so deep and real. I feel like a lot of people and I myself can relate to her, because even though she is 31 she’s still confused about where her life is going and her position in WWE. It’s quite sad, but it reminds us that we’re all human as well.

  • Danny?

This made my heart hurt cause she genuinely seems like such a lovely person in real life and she is so talented. To see her have such a lack of belief in her abilities is a crying shame. The girl has it all and deserves a push & run with the title. Please move her to SD! I wanna see her mix it up with Natalya, Naomi, Charlotte, Becky & Paige for the title.

  • Kessa Kez

i do have sympathy for her just as i did for cody rhodes and gail kim but those two weren’t complacent and decided to leave for the lack of opportunities they had and the way they were utilised. I have never rooted for Alicia because to me the bar was set high with Jazz and Jacqueline in the ‘golden era’ and Alicia to me was never as good as those two. She is still talented but if she doesnt take a stand or make a change now, her peak wrestling years will be wasted taking pinfalls to women half as talented as her in wwe. The fame and lavish lifestyle is probably whats stopping her from quitting wwe.

If it was me, i’d perhaps ask mickie or kurt angle for advice on their time in tna and consider a move there knowing gail would help greenlight my move. Alicia would get far more airtime to develop her character and get the chance to have some lengthy championship runs and not feel embarassed or underrated anymore.

    • Michael Max

So just because she’s African american and Jazz and Jackie are African american, she needs to be compared to them? I think she’s her own entity as were Jazz and Jackie, I wouldn’t compare the three just because of their skin tone. Jazz and Jackie maybe have more similarities, but Alicia has never been meant to emulate their style in the ring.

      • Kessa Kez

well, im not asking anyone else on here to compare her to any wrestler before her. Personally, yes i always compare and contrast my fave wrestlers past and present and there’s no harm /no foul with rating my fave ladies of colour and i stand by that. Here’s something, will i root for ember moon over alicia fox and naomi? absolutely and i already do, ember has similarities to both jazz and jackie and is capable of delivering some top quality matches and memorable feuds which we’ve never had from alicia or naomi. :) some women wrestlers instantly make you sit up and pay attention, others are just meh and cant be remembered for one top drawer match or one great feud after 5-9 years.

        • Michael Max

Yes I understand what you mean, personally, I’ve had several Foxy matches that gave me that feeling, but to each person they will feel differently about matches and what not. I understand the opinions of others though.

          • Kessa Kez

exactly, each to their own. i love the aggressive and stiff type of wrestling from women and comparing wrestlers is something we’ve all most likely done to differentiate the great from the good and the mediocre. just out of curiosity, what is your favemens and womens match of all time in wwe?

      • Typical Heel

I’m black and i rate ppl with their fellow race Sasha > Ember > Naomi > Alicia (but i see how it can come off as offensive, but i just want Alicia to get like Naomi and find out what works for her and DEMAND it from WWE management and the fans

  • SHame that she feels like that, she is a hard-worker, incredible performer, consistent and so funny. Give her a title run.
