On this day in history:

December 12th, 1999 | At Armageddon 1999, Women’s Champion Ivory was less than pleased to be defending her title in an Evening Gown Swimming Pool match. Her opponents Barbara Bush, Jacqueline and Miss Kitty were less appalled. The Fabulous Moolah and Mae Young were there to officiate the match, watching as Jacqueline and Barbara were eliminated before Kitty stripped Ivory and became the new Women’s Champion. The new champ then took a celebratory dip in the pool sans-dress, topping it all off by taking off her top.

Kitty was also present when Chyna defended the Intercontinental Title against Chris Jericho. Jericho put an end to Chyna’s historic first reign as IC Champion with the Walls of Jericho, forcing her to tap out. It wouldn’t be long before Chyna regained the title, though. Half of it, anyway.

* 12/12/11 – Kelly Kelly‘s Divas Title win is named the Divalicious Moment of the Year at the 2011 Slammy Awards.

It’s a shame to see Ivory and Jacqueline having to compete through that and have The Kat win. The title literally meant nothing during this period.

Ivory never liked Miss Kitty. In her shoot interview, she said Kitty was too willing to strip and cheapened its impact by doing it so often. Nowadays, Kitty is one of the most frequent names on the Worst Divas Ever lists.

As for Chyna, I hated what they did shortly after this and had her & Jericho pin each other during a match, leading to them being named co-champions.

What would you have done instead? I’m not trying to be a smart @, just wondering because I thought it was decent, but I always like hearing other fans ideas. If not co Champions what would you have done?

Also, I agree with Ivory too on Kat, but she could be overly critical with other girls like Amy and Jackie Moore but… I think she finally softened on Lita and Jacqueline as she was tough on them during her initial shoot interview. And now as the years have gone by she’s been kinder, talking about them more respectfully as talented workers as opposed to calling them Gumby and Stiff lol.

I think as critical as she was for Lita being lose in the ring, Lita was one of the best sellers and Jacqueline made the matches intense with her lethal style of wrestling.

Anyways, I always love hearing what Ivory has to say because she’s so passionate and it makes it all the more fascinating to hear her talk about it.

I’m not sure what I would have done. Call me old school, but I’m just of the opinion singles titles should NEVER be held by more than one person at the same time.

As for Miss Kitty, I’ve never heard Ivory say anything good about her. I remember her talking about one of the Diva photoshoots, and said Kitty was flirting with the photographer the whole time, even though she was involved with Jerry Lawler.
