On this day in history:

January 7th, 2007 | Victoria had checked off every name on her hit list, leaving her one task to complete: win the Women’s Championship. At New Year’s Revolution 2007, she got her chance, taking on Women’s Champion Mickie James. However, her tenacity (and interference from Melina) wasn’t enough to put Mickie away, and a Mickie-T laid Victoria out for the count. The champion celebrated after the match with Maria Kanellis and Candice Michelle, two other victims of Victoria’s dreaded checklist.

Man I was really hoping Victoria won the title. She really seemed rejuvenated with this Checklist gimmick so it would’ve been badass had she completed the list. Plus one more run for Lisa would’ve been bomb too!

I thought Victoria should have won as well, but with the departures of Trish and Lita, they needed to build new stars to carry the division and Mickie was the chosen one at that point, so I get it. I don’t necessarily like it, but I get it.

I was so hyped during this feud, it seemed that Lisa would win another title reign, she was really getting her spark back! But then she lost… and it just went downhill from there….

I think that the title probably didn’t change hands with Wrestlemania around the corner and the fact Melina had to defeat a face in Mickie to win but the fact Royal Rumble & No Way Out did not featured a woman’s match they really should have given Lisa another go with the belt even if for only a short time. Great Match !
