On this day in history:

January 24th, 1999 | Despite being attacked earlier in the night and suffering a back injury, Women’s Champion Sable defended her title against Luna Vachon in a Strap match at Royal Rumble 1999. Instead of forfeiting the match and the title at the suggestion of Shane McMahon, Sable fought on, dominating much of the match. However, when Shane tried to tip the scales in Luna’s favor by distracting the referee, Sable superfan Tori, making her first appearance outside of the crowd, punched Luna and set up Sable to touch the fourth and final corner, allowing her to win the match and retain the Women’s Title.
