Meiko Satomura makes history in Japan

Mae Young Classic II competitor and Joshi legend Meiko Satomura made history this past week. On August 28, she defeated 41-year-old Danshoku Dino of DDT Pro to become the first woman in history to hold the promotion’s top singles title, the KO-D Openweight Championship.

According to ProWrestling.com, it was later announced that she would headline DDT’s return to Korakuen Hall in September, making even more history by defending the title in a triple threat match against both Dino and Shigehiro Irie.

She joins the ranks of former KO-D Openweight Champions including Kenny Omega, Kota Ibushi, Dick Togo, Daisuke Sekimoto, El Generico (Sami Zayn) and Sami Callihan.
