Sasha Banks reveals the injury that sidelined her

Sasha Banks recently returned to Monday Night Raw after weeks of being sidelined due to an undisclosed injury.

In a teaser for her interview with Maria Menounos from her podcast, Coversations with Maria Menounos, Banks reveals the injury that kept off television. She also discusses the possibility of Women Tag Team Titles and her reaction to Roman Reigns leukemia reveal. Highlights of the interview below.

On the injury that kept her sidelined: I was having head pain and I couldn’t function. I couldn’t even drive and I couldn’t sleep. I’m like ‘I need to go get checked out.’ I went to several neurologists and they just pretty much told me that I have post-concussion symptoms, so just rest, rest, rest. It came kind of scary, like ‘Am I going to make [it to] Evolution?’ I was really scared because we’ve been having a lot of concussion meetings with WWE and taking care of ourselves and head problems. But thank God, I’m okay, I feel back to normal and I am ready for Sunday.

On her reaction to Roman Reigns’ leukemia reveal: He’s very special. I’m still shaken by that news and I remember getting ready for my match and walking backstage and everyone just stopped and was watching some kind of screen of any short that they can see. I’m like ‘What’s going on? Wait, what did he just tell us?’ Everyone found out with that promo, the whole world. No one backstage knew and I ran to gorilla because he is the strongest, most amazing man I ever met. He’s taught me so much since I’ve been on Raw and just to see the outreach on Twitter too of people wishing him well, knowing people are going to pray for him. I know he’s going to get through this because he is so strong and to know he’s been battle with this and didn’t tell a soul. He is legit, he is a leader. Everyone looks up to him, there’s no bad word anybody can say about him because he is the hardest working person I’ve ever met. I wish him all the best and I know he’s going to overcome this.

On WWE teasing Women’s Tag Team Titles: If I’m not in the title picture, I’m not really doing anything. I’m not really focused. So I feel for, in the meantime, there has to be kind of that second championship to fight after so people can get behind you and know the importance of winning a match. You want to win to get to the next step of being a champion. Being the champion means you’re the best and for me, Ronda [Rousey] has it but I still know I’m better than Ronda Rousey. So if she has that right now, then I need to be a tag team champion right now with Bayley. So I hope in the future, that it does happen because I think we have so many great teams right now. We have the IIconics, Mickie [James] and [Alicia] Fox, Absolution. There’s so many teams and we have tag matches on Raw every single week without the titles, so why not make the titles to fight for it.
