SmackDown!: Michelle vs Maryse

7 comments | Posted by Melanie

This week’s SmackDown! saw the return of Michelle McCool (while Natalya remains ominously missing), as she takes on Maryse in the featured Divas contest. There is a weird “cut” in the match, about half way through the video, the video cuts a part of the match. I really hope that’s not WWE’s editing, because it’s highly unprofessional! Other than that, check out the match below:

Again, another decent match from the Divas of the blue brand. Maryse worked better in the ring than she has in recent weeks (overselling anyone?) with Cherry. The end is a little sloppy with Maryse tapping out straight away, but there was nothing too bad about this match. There wasn’t any obvious botching, while there was some sloppiness in the Melina-Jillian match on RAW. However, I must call out WWE, I am not pleased that they have overshadowed the Natalya-Michelle feud with Cherry and Maryse. There is room for both, but if I had to choose between the two, it’s all about Natalya-Michelle. I hope Natalya returns to SmackDown! next week. Or are they blowing off this feud and acting like it never happened because of the WWE Draft? Michelle has gained a lot of traction over the past 6-8 months and many fans (and possibly, those within WWE) would probably love to see her on RAW. But there is still 4 weeks till the Draft, they could easily - and conclusively - end the storyline between Michelle and Natalya before then.

Why didn’t Michelle sell Maryse’s “leg work”?

I’m pretty sure they haven’t dropped the Natalya feud. They’ll probably have her attack Michelle after another match next week thus continuing it.
I’m not sure how Michelle feels about being on RAW because from what I’ve heard, she’d rather not be there.. and I won’t object to that.

She still needs a personality and needs to lessen on her boring-ness. She’s got way too much to fix before she makes the big move.

Candice got the title too early and got a big push too early and now that it’s sorta fixed, (well she’s been injured), we don’t need that again. The division is picking up and throwing her in the title picture, not being over could cost her.

RAW is not like SD! The fans on SD sorta chjeer for her but on RAW there’s different people who are liked. Candice’s big problem last year was Mickie and it’ll be the same for McCool.

I’m sure they dropped the storyline because Michelle is going to be traded and I would love to see it. The match was ok and Maryse better than before, her sunset flip wasn’t that bad (I always remember the one that Ashley did in one of her first matches against Torrie just after she won the DS. AWFUL!!!!!).

They may have done choppy editing work to cover a botch or something. :/ Hopefully not, though.

Riverwind, you sound awfully sure that Michelle’s going to RAW, aren’t you?

I forgot about the edited cheers Erin. They ALWAYS add in cheers.

Could you imagine it on RAW?

I really hope they add cheers because she is so boring to me. I never notice the fans getting that excited when she comes out and while she’s wrestling and all that. I’d rather she stay on SD, AWAY from the title. I don’t like Michelle and I don’t want her to have the title. Plus if Taker stays on SD I’m sure she’d want to stay to keep getting pushes. But he’d probably make sure she got them anyways. I hate the fact they are together. Anyways I wouldn’t be surprised if she botched a move big time. Normally if it wasn’t anything big they wouldn’t edit it out, but maybe it was really bad. lol

The gay cut in the middle of the match wasn’t WWE, it was Fox 8. It’s the channel they broadcast WWE/TNA on in Australia and they ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS edit out shit. It’s damn annoying :(
