Lifting the cloud left by the sad and shocking news that Torrie Wilson was released yesterday, I can confirm that Torrie in fact asked for her release. Torrie got to bow out on her own terms and that's something that I felt really strongly about. I can now accept the fact that Torrie is no longer with WWE... because she left of her own accord.

In a bit of news that I'm not happy to report (and am posting mainly so Melanie doesn't have to), it looks like Torrie and the WWE have parted ways after over 7 years. WWE.com provides us with the standard generic, information-less statement:
WWE has come to terms on the release of WWE Diva Torrie Wilson as of today, May 8, 2008.
We wish Torrie the best in all her future endeavors.

TNA's Velvet Sky addressed Ashleygate in an audio interview with Monday Night Mayhem, referring to Ashley as an escort with, "That's disgusting."
