Welcome to Diva Dirt’s Diva Draft! As the annual WWE Draft looms ever closer, airing on June 23rd this year, we will be looking at the Divas we think should move shows and why. Over the next four weeks, we will be sharing our guide to the Divas we think she should be move brands! In all, we’ll have 6 Divas making the switch in our virtual guide. Editor’s Note: Welcome to week three of Diva Draft, we are getting ever closer to the WWE Draft and I’m looking forward to seeing some Divas making the move, hopefully Divas we have listed below! Last week’s choice, Michelle McCool, some of you agreed and some of you didn’t. This week’s pick is going to be a little unusual for most of you, read below…
Pick #1: Maria
From: RAW
To: SmackDown!
Why: Maria is suffering from a severe case of envy, girl wishes it was still March when she was on RAW every week. As a result of her ditching the bimbo gimmick for Playboy, she can’t go back to her ditzy fun-loving character. Lately, she’s become a jobber on RAW and so she should be with the likes of Mickie, Melina and Beth on the brand. Maria’s been on RAW for 4 years without really being all that great in the ring, I don’t know how she’s lasted so long. It’s time she was moved over to SmackDown! Maria has said in the past that she doesn’t wanna leave RAW, well as far as I’m concerned she doesn’t belong there. In my eyes, the way SmackDown!’s going, there’s no shame in being moved there. SmackDown! is the “learning brand” Diva-wise, she’ll have the chance to work with the great Victoria, even Natalya and grow more confident in the ring. On SmackDown!, she’ll have the benefit of fresh feuds (Victoria, Natalya, Maryse) as well as the chance to be a babyface and top Diva like Michelle currently is. Maria is definitely my #1 Diva pick to switch brands.
Pick #2: Kelly Kelly
From: ECW
To: SmackDown!
Why: Kelly Kelly’s another Diva who could do with being placed on SmackDown!, it seems to me that the Diva has simply outgrown her current home of ECW. By becoming a fully fledged SmackDown! Diva, Kelly will be able to grow and mould her basic wrestling skills (though she is showing vast improvements) as well as develop her character. Like Torrie Wilson and Michelle McCool before her, SmackDown! could easily become Kelly’s stomping ground. I see SmackDown! as the training ground for developing Divas, you train hard, showcase your stuff on SmackDown!, develop as a character before graduating to RAW. Kelly could definitely prosper from that way of business.
Pick #3: Michelle McCool
From: SmackDown!
To: RAW
Why: Michelle is the Diva being buzzed about this year that fans think should make the move. Last year, it was Jillian (see how well that turned out?) and this year it’s the All-American Girl, who’s made waves on SmackDown! over the past 6 months. She’s come a long way for a former Diva Search contestant, she is now SmackDown!’s top Diva and has improved vastly in the ring. Is it time she got to showcase her skills on the “A” show? I would suggest so. Michelle could really benefit from experiencing how RAW does things: the fully-fledged women’s division is on RAW for one, plus the show is live. Michelle would get a flare for Monday nights from working with Mickie James, Beth Phoenix and Melina and who knows, maybe after working her way up the ranks, she could even be pushed for the Women’s Championship?
Pick #4: Layla
From: ECW
To: RAW
Why: Yes, RAW. All this talk about how Candice has improved, how Michelle and Kelly have improved we’ve forgotten about Layla. Layla, in my eyes, is miles ahead of the rest of the pack - she may not be as good in the ring as Michelle, but one thing that she has that the aforementioned don’t - is personality and charisma. Layla has really developed a character for herself and become the bad girl we love to hate, plus she has decent in-ring skills that she can enhance. The reason I put her on RAW is because every brand needs that enhancement talent to help put over the other Divas and I think Layla has the skillset and personality to make it on the A-show. I don’t think she’d be Women’s Championship material (not yet anyway), but she’d definitely be a good candidate to job to the likes of Mickie and Melina, to put them over and also make up the numbers in tag team matches. I guess it’s not as glamourous a role as being Women’s Champion, but Layla would be able to grow as a performer working with the RAW Divas while showing what she has already got.

I agree. Layla would be great on Raw, IMO she’s much, MUCH better than Kelly or Candice and has a MUCH better character than Michelle.

TBH I dont even associate her with being in the Diva Search anymore, she doesnt have “that” look.
I always thought Layla looked good with her curly hair. But she still looks good with Staright

I never really thought about that, but I definitely agree. Maybe since ECW’s going to be taped before RAW now, she’ll interject herself in RAW matter anyways..

I Totally Agree With You! Layla Is Great As A Heel, Sweet As A Face.. And Just Great Anyway! =P
She’s Improving In The Ring, And I Love How She Shows Character! Shes One Of The Best Things To Come Out Of The Diva Search!
Yeah she can play a wonderful heel AND face. Although i like herbetter as a heel. She could defenatly be a good thing on RAW! And like someone said, i dont even think of her as a Diva search winner, she doesnt give that vibe anymore,
I do think that she is the most under utilized Heel thay have, you know that she could have been perfect to pair up with vidctoria, but then they dropped that and left her with nothing to do but job to kelly and michelle.
Wow, I honestly thought everyone’d be like “Melanie’s on crack” at this choice, but nice to see so many agree! And I definitely agree that I don’t even associate Layla with the Diva Search, she’s become so much more.
I agree about Maria. She’s been there a long time and she isn’t good in the ring at all to me. All she really does is a bulldog. I think SD would be a good place for her to go.
Yeah Kelly would work on SD since ECW sound like it will be traveling and taping with Raw now. She has improved a lot in the ring and I am proud of her. Espcially for that nasty bump she took tuesday. She already has a great personality so I think she would be would be great on SD or even Raw. But on Raw she’d probably become a jobber there so I take that back. SD it is.
I don’t want Michelle going to Raw for many reasons. Like personality. She should improve on that before moving over there. Plus since it looks like Taker might be going over there that means she probably would to and that’s not a reason to go to Raw.
I think Layla would be great on Raw. She in my opinion has improved quite a bit in the ring and could benefit being on Raw. But what about Lena? They make such a cute duo together. I guess she’ll stay the interviewer and hopefully like I want Eve to do is start to wrestle. But it’s probably to soon. Oh well.
agree layla should go to RAW. shes got a great and unique look about her and could benefit from a change. the only reason we dont know much about her improvement is because of her recent and constant jobbing to mccool and kelly. but shes definitely a great seller and thats always important

I actually have to agree with you. I don’t think WWE should put her into title territory just yet, but this is a great idea. Layla is obviously a fan favorite, and a good wrestler to boot. I think eliminating the likes of Maris, and adding Layla could help WWE out.
I am now thinking that the tougher divas should move over to ECW, and make it extreme again. Divas such as Natalya, Beth and Katie Lea. This way, they can stay away from being a shoe-in for a title, and we can see they focused on serious matches, and not just a quick win to retain a title belt.
Maryse has a good place on smackdown, maybe she could feud with Kelly Kelly.
Ugh, but I keep forgetting about this title (on SD). There’s really talented Divas in the WWE, and then there are not-so talented divas. Theres no in between. It’s either good or bad. Maybe Michelle could become champion, and go back to a (stronger) heel position, so that the babyfaces (Such as Kelly) could “try” to get the title from her.
Wow, my brain hurts. There’s so many ways this draft could go. Who knows, there may even be no divas that get drafted. Hopefully WWE takes ths opportunity to fix most of their mistakes.
