WWE isn’t the only company with huge news this week, TNA also has some huge, huge news! For the non-spoiler crowd, you can find out on the July 3rd edition of Impact but for those interested please follow the cut:
TNA crowned a new Knockout Champion last night when Shantelle Taylor defeated Awesome Kong in the $25,000 challenge to win the money and the title. Taylor only made her debut last week on Impact in Kong’s challenge but has signed a contract with TNA and will be appearing in the next two weeks worth of the show.
This week, fans will see her attack Kong during her $25,000 challenge and then later see her defeat Raisha Saeed for an opportunity to face Kong again. These scenes will air tomorrow (Thursday, June 26th). Meanwhile, Shantelle’s title win can be seen next week on Impact.
Let’s just say, I’m not impressed. ODB and Gail Kim can barely defeat her, after they’re built up so much and this random girl comes in and wins the title? This will work as well as Gail winning the Women’s Championship in her WWE debut… it won’t. I think this is why I don’t watch TNA more.

I have to agree with you melanie.I used to be ana vid tna fan but I stick to wwe now
I actually think this is a good thing. Awesome Kong couldn’t really be beat by any of the current knockouts. If a knockout that (obviously) isn’t as dominant as Kong gets the title, it gives the other women a better chance of gaining the title. That’s how I see it. Hopefully Gail will get it back soon.
I don’t want Gail to get another reign just yet but I do think Kong had to lose it and I think this could be a good way through someone we don’t know and someone who can now enter the ring with the other knockouts and have decent 2 sided matches.
I do think though that a better way of getting Kong away from the title could’ve been for example a triple threat match and have Knockout B i.e., Velvet Sky pin Knockout C i.e. ODB with Knockout A, Kong not involved in the decsision.
I love Shantelle, but there *must* be certain circumstances for her to defeat Kong. She must just *barely* get the win.
Shoulda kept it going longer, IMO, with Shantelle being rabid until she finally gets her shot and wins. :/
