Just as I suspected (and told Erin over MSN yesterday), WWE is hyping Maria’s move to SmackDown with “coming soon” promos, something not often used for the Divas. Only a handful of Divas in years past have received such hype but I think it’s great way to introduce Maria to SmackDown. Whether you’re a fan or not, there’s no denying that Maria is one of WWE’s most bankable Divas and will add some name value to the SmackDown women’s division. Hyping her debut is a wise move by WWE and I’m actually glad they’re doing this rather than have her debut in last night’s “Golden Dreams Match.” I was going to put this in the SmackDown Redux but I think it fits here just fine; I felt having Maria in last night’s SmackDown match would be unfair on the other Divas who have wrestled and been part of the Divas Championship storyline over the past month. Plus it would also hurt Maria, because I think everyone knew Michelle McCool would be Natalya’s eventual opponent. Maria - who is a pretty big star among the Divas and will no doubt join Michelle as the two top babyfaces of the brand - coming to SmackDown with little fanfare and losing her first match would hurt her in the long run. This way they protect Maria, so when she eventually debuts she can be a top babyface for SmackDown but she would also be introduced in a fresh environment. Now that the contenders for the Divas Championship have been announced - from next week and going forward, WWE can plan new storylines for the other Divas. Maria coming in at this time would give her greater benefit as all the other Divas (except Michelle and Natalya) need new storylines too, I would love to see Maria’s first feud be with Victoria and have that be a secondary feud to the Michelle-Natalya feud over the next few weeks. That’ll build up Maria nicely as a face and she can eventually get involved in the title picture once Michelle vs Natalya has run it’s course. Anyhoo, check out the video package below: |

Not to be a jackass since I never post here, but I discovered the site I liked it, because it is professional and also a fun read, but I just think that the personal attacks need to stop. We can talk all day about what Maria is or isn’t but this isn’t a place to bash Divas, for, it would appear no reason.

And I can judge her wrestling skills because ive seen her wrestling skills, thats why I think moving to SD is good, ’cause hopefully she’ll be able to improve if shes determined enough.

I think people should give her a chance to do better on SD. As i read this, i wondered why you talk about her like you’re compromising your integrity. Seriously dude, Maria is not marketable, or bankable. In 2004-2006 she made ONLY $41,000. If you don’t believe that it has been documented on countless sites. The soundkeeper is more valuable than her. If someone in the WWE makes less than $50,000 in TWO years…. They’re not valuable. At all. The WWE is a company in which if you’re very talented and they use you well, expect a big paycheck. Plus she sucks, all she does is blow kisses and botch moves.

Well Erin you’re right, columnists arn’t supposed to do that. But all i was saying is that Maria was talked about as if she was a good wrestler or something. I honestly don’t think Maria has genuine value to the company. In the past decade i’ve only seen a few women who were truely loved by the fans. Like sable or Lita. With them, The company Never forced them on the fans. When people think of Maria’s name, they think Eyecandy, not female wrestler. I guess i should have said compromising your dignity, but that’s not true if you really like her. I hope you understand Now.
I agree with the eyecandy thing… when i first saw maria i though “wow, shes fine!” And everyone is right, she botches a lot of her moves and she only wins when shes in a tag team match… BUT, at least she wrestles, at least she agrees to go into matches with beth phoenix. She doesn’t leave for 7 months because her thumb is broken like another female wrestler i know. And a lot of the times you hear the fans cheering Maria, not booing her so I dont see why you dont think shes a fan favorite.

Unless it’s to job someone else or win a championship. She has no choice. Secondly, if you’re a Face, of course the fans won’t boo you. I did read what you wrote, to me it sounds like you think you know everything. And you dont. Maria did an interview and she said they ask her if its okay for her to do certain things in certain matches or if shes up for a certain challenge. Maybe you should take that LONG stick out of your ass
I never said i know everything, i was stating my opinion. As ALL WWE fans do. You are the one who has a problem with that. At least i’m not saying, “she sucks” and “she’s a slut” like most fans would. I gave a rational reason as to why i think the way i do. I don’t think it was necessary to say what you said about me, someone you don’t even know. But i’m not going to do the same,Because it’s childish and will not get my point across. If you can’t share your opinion about Maria and not expect someone to disagree this is how it will always turn out for you. And that is all i have to say.

No, i was talking about a fact, a statement that came from Maria’s mouth and you flat out told me i was wrong and that I didn’t even write what you wrote.
