Welcome to Hit or Miss?! We’ll be examining the week’s news bits and deeming them hits or misses. For instance, did a Diva develop some backstage heat? That’s a miss. What about a Knockout match receiving the highest ratings of the show? That’s a hit. I’ll rate each story by stars (out of 5) – more stars for a hit, less for a miss. Got it? Let’s dive in..
Story #1: Beth vs. Candice set for No Mercy.
One week after making her return to the ring, Candice Michelle was awarded with a Women’s Title match against Beth Phoenix. 
After Beth won her match against Mickie James on Raw, she and Candice had a stare-down, which in the wrestling world is universal code for “We’re fixin’ to fight, but not right now.” The match is set to take place October 5th at No Mercy. (See the original post.)

Hit or Miss?: 1 1/2 stars makes it a MISS. I know it’s obvious that Candice would feud with Beth upon her return, but the reasoning behind her getting a Women’s Title match is ridiculous. The set-up was lame, (why was Candice sitting at ringside in some hoity-toity chair like she was the champ and Mickie and Beth were wrestling for the #1 Contendership?), the match has a chance of being not that great (Candice’s ring rust), and it all seems very rushed. Hopefully the match will shape up a little better in the coming weeks. 3 weeks and counting..
Story #2: Mickie = place holder?
With Candice Michelle‘s return, it became apparent that Mickie James was set to 
be pushed aside for the time being. However, it’s also come to light that Mickie may have not even had the push she received earlier in the year if Candice hadn’t suffered her second injury setback. There’s speculation that Mickie wouldn’t have had her 4th Women’s Championship reign if Candice was around at the time. Mickie was the only top face, and thus had to hold the division together until Candice returned. (See the original post.)

Hit or Miss?: 1/2 a star makes it a MISS. I don’t care if you like Candice or not – it sucks to think that these past few months could have meant next nothing in the grand scheme of things. I mean, a whole Women’s Title reign just because there’s no other face worthy of a reign? Come on, give Mickie more credit than that. It just gives me an image of Mickie working her ass off for month upon month as the brand’s top face Diva, only to be pushed aside once Candice was well enough to return to the ring. Whether you are a fan of Mickie’s or not, that’s not very fair. She had a rather uneventful Women’s Title reign, had pointless match after pointless match, and seemed to be a glorified placeholder for a woman much less experienced than herself. Any way you slice it, it’s a raw deal.
Story #3: Gail’s last words.
Gail Kim gave one last interview for the upcoming TNA Knockouts DVD “Knocked Out”. 
She spoke highly of her fellow Knockouts while speaking optimistically about her future in the business. (See the original post.)

Hit or Miss?: 3 stars makes it a HIT. Gail has been pretty gracious in leaving TNA, and her departure hasn’t been as messy as you’d think. In wishing her fellow Knockouts well, she shows that there are no hard feelings, and hopefully the feeling is mutual. Giving one last interview with one’s former company isn’t all too common, so it’s nice to see some professional behavior taking place. Her words seemed heartfelt, and it only increases anticipation for an eventual WWE return.
Story #4: Pro Wrestling Illustrated counts down the “Female 50″.
In the first of its kind, Pro Wrestling Illustrated 
is counting down the top 50 women in wrestling in the “Female 50″, much like they’ve done for years with the men in its annual “PWI 500″. (See the original post.)

Hit or Miss?: 4 stars makes it a HIT. It’s not the biggest leap in women’s rights (Suffrage? Pfft..), but it’s still cool to see women’s wrestling get a little more recognition. That, and their act of listing 50 women shows that they’re going to be highlighting the lesser-known wrestlers in an effort to hopefully expand the horizons of wrestling fans. Obviously women’s wrestling reaches beyond the confines of the WWE and TNA, and readers will soon be well aware of that.
Story #5: Dawn Marie to host “Wrestler’s Rescue”.
Former WWE Diva Dawn Marie has been doing promotion for this weekend’s 
Wrestlers Rescue” event. The charity aims to help retired professional wrestlers with health care. This weekend’s event will include the charity’s first convention, dinner, and cocktail party. In attendance will be several notable wrestlers, including Torrie Wilson, Ashley Massaro, and Mick Foley. (Click here for more info.)

Can someone send me Candice vs Beth from No Mercy this year? I could’ve sworn it aired next month but obviously everyone has seen it since they’re judging it already.
Candice got the title shot handed to her since WWE didn’t want to throw her back in the ring yet. They obviously wanted her to train more and her being in a match on Monday instead of Beth could’ve been bad. Plus Candice vs. any face would’ve come off stupid it could potentially get one of them heat.
Look into things before you judge it and don’t judge a book by ti’s cover. The feud JUST started.
As for Mickie, big deal if she takes a back seat. She had a great push this year and people should be thankful for that. What else are they honestly gonna due with Mickie? Give her a fifth run or make her chse the title and used every week in the role like earlier this year until she retires?
Come on. Jeez.

I guess for Melanie, the glass is half empty, or in this case, 75% empty. I’d like to look at this half full myself. We knew as soon as Candice could move her arm and shoulder without screaming, she’d be put back into the ring, regardless of what she did (or didn’t) do. I mean, for the past four months when Divas like Beth, Mickie, Melina and Katie were having decent to good matches, we kept saying Beth will win the belt off of Mickie, and that will be a sign that Candice is coming back. So, what happens? Beth wins at Summerslam, and everyone and their mom says ‘Candice is on her way back’
We shouldn’t be surprised that WWE is so intent on pushing one of their ‘projects’ so quickly. But, should Candice get hurt again (and I hate to be pessimistic, but all of the protecting in the ring in the world still can’t make up for lack of basics in the ring. Candice, learn how to take a bump right this time!), we’ll probably end up finally moving on and setting up a more interesting division. (Someone has to turn soon…)
I know this sounds kinda mean but I really hope Candice gets injured again at No Mercy

Lol Mike is such a Candice mark that it’s sad. I hate when people can’t take a bad word said against their favourite diva but can dish it out to all the other divas.

Crystal alot of people are feeling the same, to be honest. Is it me or is this beth vs candice feud just really boring. Save us Melina i say.
By the way Mike the feud is hardly new its been stoping and starting for a year, when candice returned (before re-injuring herself)She returned and started up the feud with beth, with maria and melina added to it for the bunnymania match before she got injured and replaced by ashley. And now its started all over again, so its hardly new.

Honestly Mike, I’m getting a tired of the hoity toity attitude you seem to take to our bloggers. You only seem to come out of the woodworks when Candice is mentioned and your attitude stinks. If you cannot take a word of criticism directed at Candice without getting your panties in a bunch, you’re not the type of reader we want or need. Sure it means less hits for us, but in the long run, Erin and I stand by our product and we will never try to appease ourselves by writing something we don’t mean. Neither of us either likes or dislikes your beloved Candice, but that don’t mean we’re gonna kiss Candice’s ass just to make you and a select few feel better.
I hope in future you’ll use discretion is choosing which websites you visit, because it’s obvious this isn’t the right one for you. Perhaps you’re better off sticking to Candice fansites where everything smells of roses?

i feel bad for Mickie and I feel she would benefit from being on Smackdown. She could wrestle Nattie, Victoria, Maryse, giver her some new blood to work with. She is THE top face of the WWE, and its upsetting to see her pushed aside for Candice. If this was a revenge match, I would be excited about the match, but Im not because its a title match she didnt earn. The fans didnt even really cheer for her when she came back, and there is a lack of excitement in her return.
I believe Beth should and will retain and this can set up Melina’s return, which will be much more exciting and more anticipated..then again I said Maryse was gonna win at unforgiven.
I really enjoyed Gails comments and it seems like a return to the WWE is not set in stone. I think she will go there but I for one would like to see her turn heel in TNA. I can tell that, because she practically created that division to be what it is, there is a strong sense of loyalty, and she might not want to really leave.
The magazine Im excited for. I hope they put indie girls, and girls from Japan and Mexico, not just WWE and TNA girls..should be a good list
and im glad to see wrestlers uniting to help each other out. it seems once the companies are done, theyre done. these guys and girls get aerously injured and need to be supported
candice sucks i hope beth rips her into shreds again hahaha. even though vince will be gay enough to have candice beat her i hope candice gets the slip for the 3rd time that vince will have to release her .

Mike, chill the fuck out. I was judging the manner by which they’re setting up the feud, and their reasons for doing so. Not once did I say the match would be bad. I said it had a chance of not being great, but don’t act like I judged it prematurely. You need to stop being such a tightass about Candice, or I can assure you you won’t be enjoying this site. Have you ever? Because it seems like you only pay attention to the Candice stuff, and even then you seem to be put in a sour mood. Do yourself a favor and don’t read if all you’re going to do is bitch when we say something less-than-flattering about Candice.
I’m so glad we didn’t have such fervent marks for Ashley back during “Ashleygate”. Now THAT would’ve been a pain in the ass.

I hope Melina’ll stay on RAW…And Mickie was feautured almost in every match,she hold that title for a long time,and that’s her 4th title reign!Common,she’s good,but other ppl need chances too!I know most of you hate Candice even sometimes you really don’t have any reason for it,so even when she’s good,you’re gonna find something bad about her.And who the hell are you to judge does she deserves the title or not!?She’ve improved a lot last year,and she will this year.

Actually ‘Candice Fan’, we don’t appreciate when people take attitude with us and we won’t put up with it. You’re free to share your own opinions but when you become rude and disrespectful to myself or Erin, that’s when we have a problem.
