Major news coming out of tonight’s SmackDown house show in Raleigh, North Carolina: Newly crowned Divas Champion, Maryse looks to be seriously injured after appearing to blow out her knee during a tag team match.
Maryse teamed up with Natalya to take on the Bella Twins at the show:
Maryse and Natalya were wrestling The Bella Twins in the third match on the show. As Maryse worked one of the twins over in the corner, she suddenly crumpled down to the mat. She appeared to have blown out her knee.
What followed was an awkward scene in which Natalya stood on the apron not knowing what to do while The Bella Twins went around the ring playing up to the crowd. Special guest referee Kung Fu Naki stood over Maryse talking to her. The road agent for the match threw up the “X signal” and a number EMTs, referees and road agents hit the ringside area. Meanwhile, Natalya entered the ring and made one of the twins submit to the sharpshooter to put an end to the match. Maryse was then carted off on a stretcher.
To be injured is bad enough, but to be injured just a few days after winning the Divas Championship? I can’t imagine how Maryse is feeling right now. Our thoughts are with Maryse at this time.

UPDATE: According to reports, it looks like one of the Bella twins may be at fault (thanks Christi84):
After a few minutes, a Bella twin tried to dropkick Maryse. I’m thinking her intent was to either miss entirely or possibly contact her thigh, but she instead landed square on the kneecap. It looked like a freak occurrence. Maryse shrieked loudly and collapsed to the mat.

I would not wish this on my worst enemy. I feel so bad for her. I was looking forward to seeing what she would do as Divas Champion. We’ll be praying for a safe and speedy recovery, Maryse!

I’m waiting for WWE.COM. No one knows how bad it is unless they were with the medics, or unless they’re Maryse. Some things take a while to heal and some don’t. she could’ve easily pulled something or got a charlie horse. WE all thought Candice was injured at SS when her knee buckled underneath her and she was in agony until eliminated; and we all thought Mickie was hurt at RAW. Let’s hold our breaths people…and PRAY!!! LOL

I found this out through a bulletin on MySpace and I thought that it was kayfabe, but now since every site is reporting it, I’m starting to believe it.
I really, really, really hope that Maryse didn’t sustain anything major. She can’t lose her title this soon.
If Maria wins her title, I’d hate to watch Smackdown. Give Nattie or Victoria the title if needed!!!

The crowd was entirely dead for this. Nothing they did garnered reaction.

The other three were scrambling around and trying to improvise the match during all of this. It was a huge mess and looked terrible. Natalya looked to end the match by taking a three count at one point, but Funaki just stopped his count before three for no reason even though she didn’t budge. She eventually used the Sharpshooter on one of the twins for the end.
Maryse probably laid there for at least another five minutes while the trainers looked at her. They eventually brought out a stretcher and carted her out instead of trying to have her walk.
The Bella Twins will die! LOL!

i am actually mad about this…i really was looking forward to maryse being champ as she deserves it and has actually really worked her ass off and has improved..hopefully she will only be injured for a couple weeks and maybe they just continue other storylines?? i gues that would only happen if it was for a few weeks..unfortunately it looks like shell be out for a while..she was just getting her push too i hope that her passion for wrestling continues to grow while shes gone..and that she still has the desire for it and to come back even better..i guess we will see maybe on wwe.com tomorow

I don’t know if it’s real or not. I hope it’s not. But this weekend, WWE have been running diva-injury related storylines at houseshows. Maria was “seriously injured” according to a few reports, and obviously she isn’t now. So I hope this is just something to get people riled up about and not a real injury.

This is horrible. Poor Maryse.
I think it’s real they went far enough to do the X-symbol and why would they bother to fake that at a house show when they only rarely use it storyline wise on TV? Hopefully she’s not too seriously injured. As much as they annoy and bore me I don’t think it’s fair to come down on the Bella’s too hard. Freak accidents happen all the time even between people that are fully trained.
As for the title…I suppose it depends on how injured she is. If it’s going to be six months or less I’d say they don’t need to strip the title from her. They have a storyline going between Maria/Michelle that they could concentrate on for that time if they wanted and honestly they weren’t doing a whole lot with it besides having Michelle carry it around and sometimes randomly defend it. If it’s going to be 6 months to a year then yeah they’ll have to find a new champion.

Aww that sucks! If this injury is competely legit, the timing of it is pretty unfortunate “/. Well it’d be unfortunate at any time to get an injury but she just won the title. Hopefully that if she is injured then she doesn’t need to give up her title… I’m sure if the Creative Team rack their brains long enough they’d be able to think of a way to prevent her from losing the title without defending it.

Dave Meltzer reports that while the Maryse injury reported last night may be legit, WWE has been shooting injury angles with the Divas at live events as of late. We hope to have an injury update or more details on Maryse later today.
