Never before have I just watched on in amazement. Last night, Maria substantiated every question and doubt that I’ve ever had in her and proved to me just why she doesn’t belong in the WWE – or any other wrestling company for that matter.
How someone can screw up something so simple is beyond my comprehension. Maria has never been the best wrestler, wrestling just isn’t something that came naturally to her like it did to others in her boat (Michelle McCool, Maryse). And as hard as she tried, she could never match those who like her, struggled at first to grasp the sport (Candice, Kelly Kelly). But unlike those four examples, Maria continues to look uncomfortable in the ring and it isn’t a pretty sight. I have often described her wrestling style as ‘spastic’, from the way she hits clothelines, the way she jumps from the turbuckle. Any time I think about Maria wrestling, I just picture her with her arms flailing everywhere.
Nothing looks as pristine as it should. But last night’s ‘attack’ on Michelle McCool really took the biscuit, she’s had some passable matches for sure, but on SmackDown this week she just proved, plainly and simply, that she’s not destined to be a wrestler. Her failed attempt at forearms or whatever they were meant to be, just came off looking limp and yes… spastic. And yes, thinking about it now, I picture her with her arms flailing everywhere. There was nothing believable about it, there was nothing vicious about it, which is what it was intended to be. It just looked awful on screen and if I were producing this show, I would have edited it out before it could hit TV. Obviously, WWE is willing to overlook this which is fine considering they have storylines to put over on a weekly basis.
But to the world, what it shows is that Maria has no basic grasp of wrestling, because she can’t even do the most basic things properly and believably for the viewing audience. Perhaps that is why in four years, she’s never been giving any real wrestling opportunities. Perhaps that is why in four years, she’s never been considered a real title contender. Now that she’s on SmackDown and being given the chance to wrestle and compete for a title, her flaws are becoming more and more transparent.

Agreed. That’s why I believe that rumor about Kelly and Natalya being switched. Kelly is much better served on SD in Maria’s role as a building face, especially with Gail Kim coming; she can learn alot from her. I also think she can make Michelle look strong in carrying a match because Kelly is actually capable of wrestling. I may think Candice is insignificant on RAW and should go bye-bye, but at least she’s capable like Kelly. Maria was only good when she was a dumb interviewer. She’s truly never had a good match and makes anyone who has a match with her look bad;(Michelle, Maryse, Beth, etc.) She should replace Eve as an interviewer and go back to what she does best; being dumb, because she definitely proved it tonight. Yeah, Michelle didn’t really sell anything Maria did, which made it look worse, but if I was Michelle, I wouldn’t have sold it either.

I WANT to like Maria. She seems like a nice girl and comes off well in interviews. I just think WWE should keep Maria as a valet and give her some character development. I don’t see a release as being necessary, but WWE needs to be realistic with her capabilities and redirect her.

Right, Candice can pull off attacks, and they’re only not putting her in matches cause shes training because shes looking for another big push i heard =/ and now Maria was going to get a push into Mania, i would take that push away from her, and ive never heard of Natalya and Kelly Kelly swapping brands :O but i dont think they will swap them you know because Kelly is now building on her acting skills aswell as her wrestling skills, so they should trade Jillian for Natalya.. Cause trading a Face with a Heel isnt really going to work LOL and if they did trade Jillian for her, maybe Jillian would actually get a push because she has amazing wrestling skills shes just not allowed to show it. BUT back to the point Maria is sloppy at wrestling, her attack was pathetic. i mean look at Them from christie hemme to trish they look better than this. but give her some credit for trying, but i dont think she will be seen much in 2010 if she hasnt already been released by then.
Candice should also be pushed or turn heel :] Also with Kelly she should be pushed for a championship shot!

I think that if Maria was more focused on Wrestling from the moment she was signed and not her Fashion Line or Playboy she’d be a better wrestler by now. I think the WWE should find a way to “put her out of action” so that she can go off and train for a few months and only bring her back when she’s shown a great deal of improvment.
I don’t understand why the wee officials (or whoever they are who make the decisions when to put people on TV) don’t think Eve’s ready to wrestle on TV yet, but they let Maria. From what I’ve seen Eve seems more capable than Maria does.

i really don’t think melanie was being too hard at all. I think she was 100% dead on with everything she said. Maria looked terrible with that attack. Michelle and Natalya didn’t even sell her “punches” because she looked like a 4th grade girl trying to hit women. I think this is a very true blog because melanie even gave candice some credit with her ability’s. Maria really is the bottom of the barrel with the diva’s and I don’t understand why WWE hasn’t seen that yet.

Tisk, tisk, tisk Maria. Seriously, shes been in the WWE for 4 years now!!! And yet we have seen little to none improvement from her. She NEEDS to give up her spot on TV and go back to training. Sigh to think there are much better female wrestlers out there and yet Maria is the one who gets a TV spot. I was feeling some major secondhand embarrassment for Maria last night. I honestly feel completely comfortable in saying that was one of the most ridiculous looking things I’ve seen on WWE in a long time as far as the divas are concerned. We all may have our differences about who we like and dislike and that’s fine, but THAT was just terrible.
I’m on the side of some others here, though, and it’s a sentiment I think many of us have expressed before: I don’t think Maria should be released at all. She has a great connection with the fans and could be a great manager. I would actually like to see them stick her with someone who is maybe thisclose to getting over, but needs that extra edge. I think she could work wonders with that! As for exchanging Natalya and Kelly, I would like that, too. Raw is deficient in heels and Smackdown is becoming likewise with credible faces. I think it would really to wonders for both ladies and even out the brands.
As for MelanieSux… well, first, L-O-L. Second, I think Melanie came out on a good end of this. That flamer may think you suck BUT I think this line “You’re nothing but a little, blind, pin-up girl…. Pathetic Pin-Up girl….” is kind of a compliment! I mean, being blind might not be fun, but I mean… pin-up girl? Sounds pretty sweet to me unless I’m missing something in this equation.

Melanie is 100% on this though. Maria and other Diva Search girls / models have been given dozens of chances to shine and either shone, or failed miserably. Take Michelle, Maryse, Ashley, Kelly and Candice for example. None of them were the greatest wrestlers, but they tried and impressed us, even if they did stink at times. However Maria has STUNK for the past four years. I mean really, even if you are a huge Maria fan you MUST be able to see the LACK of acting and wrestling abilites. She was given a huge push while she posed for playboy, she was given a Wrestlemania match for gods sake and Ashley shown her up in that too. Some people are cut ouf for the business, some obviously aren’t and it’s rather blatent that Maria is one of the people who isn’t and probably will never be cut out for it.

i must say i agree with melinie 100% the attack on smackdown was so lame and looked horrible. Wow, I love the continuous Maria mark, it just makes me laugh…
But, anyways, I totally agree. This was probably the worst “attack” scene that I have ever seen. I, too, just see her arms flailing about when I think of Maria. The girl has been there for FOUR years, and has shown little improvement. I had hope for her in the beginning, but now it’s just all gone. I really, really wish she would do something to prove me wrong, but I haven’t seen it yet, though I have been waiting for a few years now. The girl’s just not a wrestler, simple as that. Having all the passion in the world, as she said she has, can’t make you any better at something.
