Week after week, I find myself watching WWE and continuously getting let down with the state of our Divas. I think we’ve got a great mix of athletic, beautiful girls, but clearly the WWE and their Creative Team don’t know what to do. With all the talk of who might be going where in the upcoming draft, I thought I’d give my opinion of why the Draft needs to happen sooner than later. I know it’s probably a little early to start making predictions since the Draft doesn’t happen till after WrestleMania, but it is starting to seem like the Creative Team is just filling up time until the Draft happens.
I think Raw is trying to make sure each Diva gets a little TV time instead of focusing on making well-developed storylines, while SmackDown has the more creative storylines but not the right roster to carry it out.Â
So what do we do?!? Here’s what I think: a complete shakeup is necessary. The feuds are getting old, quickly. How many more times can we see Beth Phoenix vs. Melina, Mickie James, or Candice? It is becoming more and more obvious that Natalya is headed over to Raw, which I am all in favor of, so long as she doesn’t become Beth Phoenix’s shadow. In her place, I think Candice should come to SmackDown. Kelly Kelly is doing pretty well on Raw, and I think bringing Candice to SmackDown will not only revitalize her character, but it will also have her replace Maria as the #2 top face behind the incoming Gail Kim until Maria can figure out how to wrestle a little better. Finally, to complete SmackDown’s new roster, bring in Katie Lea from ECW. A little homework on Katie Lea would show you that she has beaten Beth Phoenix in a Ladder Match back in OVW. Can you imagine?! Katie Lea is the new Jillian, in my opinion, and that’s a tragedy. As for the Bella Twins, either they need to split up and feud with each other, or they need to go into singles action and do some kind of switcheroo like they are doing in tag team matches. If it’s done right, it will be like what Edge and Christian used to do back in the days of the Brood, and it will make for a great twist. I am, however, very pleased with Maryse as Divas Champion and Michelle McCool improving as a heel.
Since Raw will be in need of a new face, I vote to bring in Alicia Fox. She has tons of potential to be a champion in the future. Secondly, make Layla an active wrestler or at least a valet who has some sort of significance! Layla is an amazing heel and I think that if done right and paired with someone besides William Regal, she could definitely become a force to be reckoned with. Finally, I think that (make sure you’re sitting down for this one) Jillian should turn face and Mickie should turn into a psychotic heel. It allow for Mickie James’ character to get refreshed. Having Beth and Mickie be friendly towards each other in a joint effort to take out Melina and Kelly?! Oh my!
I think the only Diva I left out is Tiffany. As much as I would like to call her the new Lena Yada, I can’t. I kind of like her as an assistant GM. Oh, and also Tiffany happens to be from New Orleans, like myself. Not only do we share a hometown, but I also used to be in her Biology class. So, I just can’t find it in me to wish that my former lab partner be released. Hey, if WWE really wanted to, they could send Maria over to ECW and have these two duke it out because they both need some practice!! One of them more so than the other…. *cough*

Totally agree with everything, Hassan. Mickie definately needs to be a heel, and I can totally see Alicia as a Champ one day. Oh and Congrats on finally popping your blogging cherry. Lol! Great post!
I don’t agree with Alicia just yet. She hasn’t done enough to stand out and would fade away on RAW. I like her being on ECW because she can stand out.
Personally I think Kelly should be traded for Natalya. Kelly will always be third behind Melina and Mickie no matter how much she’s on TV. I think the SD heels are more suited for her and she can really shine above Maria and get some solid help from Gail.
I’d put Tiffany and Candice together as odd ones out. Candice can really only do so much revitalizing, but no one cares frankly, and this past run proved it. I think she’s really run her course unfortunately. Tiffny just does absolutely nothing and for me is just generic Diva # whatever.

I agree with everything you said. The Divas need a shakeup and they could do well if they did this. But this is the WWE and they want to keep things as there are because they are so hard done by.
I totally agree with the Bellas starting a fued, and Mickie James was INCREDIBLE as a psycho heel.
I think that Melina should go to smackdown with Candice since Candice is becoming a Heel, and Michelle McCool & Candice Michelle vs. Melina & Gail Kim would be a match to see.
I listened to an interview of Taryn Tarrell on my favorite Wrestling Interview site, Inyourheadonline.com back in 2007, and she seemed really passionate about WRESTLING, not as Teddy Long’s hoe. But I haven’t seen anything much from her FCW matches. She should stay on ECW and I think that Layla, Alicia, Katie Lea, Kelly Kelly should go/stay on ECW.
As for RAW, Mickie should stay with Beth, Jillian, the Bellas, and Maria & Maryse.
i think the twins should be put on different shows….one to ecw and one to stay on smackdown….. and alicia shoudl go to smackdown ….then switch michelle mccool for jillian i wanna see her as a face again and i think she could pull off a good feud with maryse…..the whole waiting for gail thing is taking to long….maria should go to ecw and stay out of the ring…..and natalya should move to raw i think shes to good for the smackdown diva roster…….as for raw i think layla should start getting in on some action that whole regal thing is not her….beth has to drop santino and continue to dominate the divas….
Boring. And generic idea, every site does one of these and they’re always everywhere and just so boring and always the same. In fact, I saw this very idea done two days before this was posted on another diva site. HMMM.
umm well if youre implying that my BLOG about my opinions on a draft were copied, then you are sadly mistaken. i dont even know any other divas sites like this one. why would i want to copy someone else’s draft ideas???? lame.

I say split up the Bella twins. Keep Brie on Smackdown and put Nikki on ECW and use her as a heel.
Swap Candice to Smackdown, and bring Maryse to Raw as one of the top heel divas, and liven up Candice a bit by turning her heel on Smackdown, putting her in the divas title picture.
Keep Michelle, Gail, Maria, Natalya & Eve Torres the same, but bring in Katie-Lea to Smackdown, she needs to be properly utilised in the title picture.
Have Rosa Mendes split from Beth Phoenix, turn her face & move her to ECW to spice up the divas divison there. Jillians not being used properly on Raw, so a possible ECW move for her could be good?
Bring up one of the development divas to Raw, like Angela Fong or Wesley Holliday/Beverly Mullins.
