Now is the time of the year, with countless feuds gearing up, that everyone’s speculating on what matches could be taking place at WrestleMania. Melina vs. Beth? Maryse vs. Gail? (We wish!) Well, if Trish Stratus had her way, she’d be filling that spot. In a recent interview, Trish discussed her recent Raw appearance and whether or not she’d like to get back in the ring once again:
“I would definitely like the chance to finish off what I started with Beth in a one-on-one scenario,” Stratus said on Slam Wrestling. “No tagging out, no Santino shenanigans, just one dominant female against the other.”
Stratus says she hasn’t been contacted by WWE for a follow-up appearance at WrestleMania, but she would like the chance to appear.
And it’s not just Beth Phoenix that Trish has her eye on. Natalya‘s on her mind as well:
“Nattie I think is going to be a major player soon, given the right chance to do what she does best,” Stratus said. “Everyone knows how much I respect the Hart lineage, using Bret’s sharpshooter in my retirement match, wearing the pink and black boots in Toronto … it’s not a coincidence. So I would be honoured to face someone who is a part of that legacy and I have no doubt in my mind that we could blow away an audience.”
Personally, I think the idea of Trish Stratus appearing at WrestleMania (match or not) is a bad one. That’s a spot that the girls on the roster fight tooth-and-nail for, busting their butts the whole year to get that special push. Having Trish take that spot seems selfish on her part. I mean, a one-off appearance on the biggest show of the year? That’s a lot to ask for. I’d much prefer the current crop of girls to take advantage of that mega-push than a former Diva that’s not going to stick around afterwards. I agree with this whole blog. I love Trish and all, but for her to take up a spot, that the other Divas could have a match in, does seem selfish on her part. When she retired, she left on a “storybook” ending, which I was happy about. I think she should’ve just left WWE there. I don’t mind if she makes little appearances on RAW, but at Wrestlemania? The grandest stage of them all? Not so much.
I like the idea of Trish facing either Beth or Natalya, better than some stupid playboy bunny crap. Atleast it would be a great divas match at WM instead of some diva getting the spot because she took her clothes off. There hasn’t been a great divas match at WM since Trish faced Mickie at WM 22. We could see two divas matches at WM, it’s been done before. Trish can face either Beth or Natalya and Melina can defend the title against Jillian. I don’t see the Divas Championship being defend at WM since well the only one to face Maryse would be Michelle and we all know how that will turn out.
Stop here Trish, just stop…
Her apperance on RAW was cool and all, but she soon gonna ruin her storybook ending and her legacy she worked years to get.
No more spotlight for you Trishy, it’s time to give the other girls a turn.

the only capacity i would want to see Trish involved in is MAYBE a special guest referee. then she could “be” there without really doing anything useful. maybe after the match she can get into a little scuffle with Natalya, but Trish, if you want back in the ring then you shouldn’t have retired to do a travel tv show.
I like it because it would give them both good rubs. Plus, both of them could definitely handle their own with her. Nattie needs SOMETHING since shes stuck on SD right now. That would be great.
i have to disagree, i see where you all are coming from, but seriously this is WRESTLEMANIA 25, why pass on having the biggest diva in WWE history wrestle??
but for me what i would love to see but i’m begining to not think it will happen, is that since Beth lost her title, her && Trish can fued, somewhere in the mix Michelle Mccool becomes apart of the stroyline && then Lita comes in so it’s not for a title, but think how big this would be!!

The 25th Anniversary doesn’t mean the WWE needs to look back on the past 25 Wrestlemania’s and be all nostalgic. It just means that they’ve reached a pinnacle in the company’s history where they have to look towards THE PRESENT AND FUTURE of the business. Special ref deals are fine. Special accompaniment to the ring is great, but Wrestlemania 25 does NOT mean getting stuck in the past and pushing divas who CHOSE to retire on their own fruition.
WWE has such a full roster of divas clamoring over each other for a shot in the big stage that I think it would be a complete travesty to waste one of those spots on a WWE Alumni. You don’t see The Rock going around saying, ‘Hey, you know what, it’s the 25th Anniversary, I want to be a part of it and take the spot away from [insert upper mid-card name here]‘, do you? Trish is fantastic, but she’s gotta let her place in “The Era” fade away gracefully instead of trying to grasp on in these kind of sad attempts. It’ll only end up tarnishing her own legacy in the end.
honestly, i agree with Erin 100%. Trish can’t decide to come back whenever she pleases and try to take the spotlight off of a match that the diva’s have basically worked their asses off for. She retired on a great note and she needs to stop trying to come back and steal the show. If she felt so strong about her presence she could have deff. lasted a few more years.
Definitely agree with Erin, Trish has had her time its time to create a new era with the current divas and that starts by booking them correctly at Wrestlemania. If Trish does want to make an appearance, make her the ref or a manager.
How Trish doesn’t mention Maryse. She’s Canadian, too. Or Michelle?
I would say that both of them could pass Trish someday on the all-time Divas list.
I think Trish could come back as a special guest ref or be in Nattie’s corner (is she made a face turn obv) but it would need more setting up. Maybe next year.
If Trish comes to Wrestlemania, then that is a tad selfish. Just as Erin said, Wrestlemania is the biggest event in wrestling, and all of the Divas on the roster work their asses off all year to be a part of that. It wouldn’t be fair in any manner for Trish Stratus to be able to just waltz back in and get a match at the biggest pay-per-view of the year. Trish chose on her own terms to retire, and if she still loves to wrestle that much, she shouldn’t have ever done it.
Also, I am beyond words to express how tired I am of everyone looking back at the “Golden Age” of Divas. Don’t get me wrong, they were fantastic wrestlers, but they are gone now. Can we not look at the great talent that the WWE has now?

i actually dont know what to think about this i mean, like everyone said trish retired she got her happy ending, so there is no need for her to return at WM, but i would love to see a match between natalya vs trish, after WM22 the diva matches have been a total joke at WM, i mean ashley for a shot at the title/ashley again in a bunnymania match, I think its time for new diva’s to get a spot at wrestlemania and im not talking about bella twins/maria, maybe mickie james other TALENTED diva’s but i really dont wanna see melina againthis will be her 3th time, i also wouldnt mind seeing LITA returning
yes, it is time of a new era so to say, but honestly tell me, how many women deserve spots at Wrestlemania?? Beth, Melina, Mickie, Natalya, Michelle, and Gail is long overdue. Some may say that is argueable, but i’m tired of seeing all of these women who point blank aren’t technically sound. I do feel like some divas are ever so improving such as Kelly Kelly Candice, && Maryse, they do eventually deserve to be Wrestlemania worthy, but when women like Maria && The Bella Twins botch nearly every move in a match and make people like Jillian Hall && Victoria look bad, that makes me hate the WWE crop of divas.
even the golden era had it’s share of T&A women: Stacy, Torrie, Dawn, Sable, & Miss Jackie, my thing is at least they could put together a decent match. Then women who could have been huge if given the right push like Gail Kim and Nidia, which i’m sorry to say but that is the direction Jillian is going and i will not be surprised to see her get released in the near future. Then there was the real wrestlers like Lita, Jazz, Trish, Jacqueline, Ivory, Victoria, and Molly. I just felt like there was a certain balance that they knew each woman played.
Nowadays the divas get lost in the shuffle, maybe once they release those undeserving and correctly use those who do, and actually give them “characters” like TNA does because most of the divas now are boring, cause most of them are all the same, dull models.
