You guys ever wonder what could have been in WWE? Ever think that a few less ‘future endeavors’ would have made a difference in today’s division? Ever think of how things would be without the Diva Search? No? Well, don’t worry cause I’ve done the thinking for you. Here’s a couple of circumstances that woulda, coulda or shoulda created an alternate reality in Diva World.
WHAT IF: Beth hadn’t had her jaw shattered by Victoria?
Remember Beth Phoenix’s first appearance on WWE television? She was a scorned ex-friend of Mickie James and came to the aid of (then injured)Trish Stratus. She seemed to be on a roll until Victoria bitch slapped her jaw to pieces. Ouch! She was out of action for a year and came back as a heel.Â

Would she still be a face if it hadn’t been for the injury? I think not. WWE has a tendency to make their really strong girls into heels. She would’ve probably turned on Trish after a while, and started on her journey to being WWE’s dominant diva.Â

Would Mickie still be a face? Of course! Did you hear those cheers at ‘Mania even when she was a heel? They even booed Trish for her. She was destined to be a fan favorite.Â

Lastly, if Beth hadn’t gotten injured we would know why Beth was so pissed at Mickie to begin with. That still bugs me to this day!Â

WHAT IF: There was no Diva Search?
There are two sides to this coin. If there was no Diva Search we all could have been spared watching countless matches by girls who had no talent for wrestling or were training on the job. No Christy Hemme, No Maria and No Tiffany. On the other hand, the lack of the Diva Search would have meant No Michelle McCool, No Maryse, and No Bella Twins (is that really a bad thing?). Most importantly no Diva’s Championship. Without the Diva Search, WWE probably wouldn’t have enough Divas to justify having a second title.Â

WHAT IF: Trish and Lita has never retired?
Trish and Lita, two of the only three women to main event RAW. Arguably the best Divas to ever step foot in a WWE ring. But would they be able to stand out in the current roster of Divas. I think so. In fact I think Trish and Lita could have helped groom this generation of Divas into solid in-ring competitors. I could see them taking Kelly Kelly, Candice, Maria and the like and really whipping them into shape. If they were still around maybe this era of Divas would just as ‘golden’ as the last.Â

i have been asking myself these questions also,
but yeah we probably will never know we can only guess, we all know wwe is very unpredictable
i actually dont know witch diva’s we would have if we hadnt had diva searches, maybe we would
have more talented diva’s or maybe not, Woow if trish & Lita never retired umm i think there were
nothing left to do for them maybe jobbing i mean there are only a small group of diva’s that can wrestle on their
level.

I really think Beth getting injured worked in her favour, I don’t think her career would have mapped out the way it has since she returned in 2007. It’s kinda forgotten that Trish was the one that brought in Beth in kayfabe, if they were to feud at ‘Mania, would be a good little storyline.
What if Jillian Hall stayed on SmackDown!? =)
I think she would still be a face, and maybe she would be the Divas Champ or something…
What if… people stopped saying “Golden Era” in reference to Trish or Lita for 48 hours? Would the world implode?

the only thing i’d have to disagree on is Christy Hemme, i absolutely adore her and think she woudla been something huge in WWE. But they shoulda kept Tough Enough, that way u could tell who could really deal and handle in the ring, that way we woulda never got Maria in the ring
I think ultimately Beth deserved to be heel. I’m actually hoping that when she leaves the business, it’s not like the way they did Chyna. Mickie is an awesome face, but i really love her heel for some reason. Then Trish & Lita, you know with Trish it was her time, I Love her but she did so much in the company, that there really wasn’t much left she could do and took away from other divas hpw shoulda been pushed, and as for Lita. her personally business was hers, it was ashem that she left because of the way people treated her. She is the one diva besides Nidia I want to see return and get the recognition she had originally had.
That beth and mickie thing still bothers too. i also think that this should be weekly thing. what if brooke adams werent fired? would there still be a extreme expose?
I agree this should be a weekly post or something like that, there are many things that could have been different in regards to the divas.
Beth as a face, i don’t think, would have been that successful. So her returning as a heel was great.
The Diva search was a great initial idea, but by the 4th year it was a joke by not even having the contestants appear on television. Also, i think the WWE should have focused on contestants that were actually interested in wrestling. I think it was pretty stupid on their part to be willing to pay the winner $250,000 pretty much for just appearing on tv. Christy Hemme is the only one that actually was involved in multiple storylines. Ashley was also, but that was a big mistake (2 wrestlemania matches? really?)
Which brings me to Lita (who only had one wrestlemania match) and Trish. I think both of them retiring was good. Trish pretty much did everything she could in the WWE, there was nothing left to do (except become a 10x champion maybe). Lita on the other hand, had plenty more to do. Unfortunately with the way the WWE was developing her character, she wouldn’t have received a great push.
I’m a huge Lita fan, so I always think what if this or that. Like, what if she hadn’t had her neck injury.. she was the most popular diva ever up until that point and would have had a few more title reigns had she not been out for a year and a half. Or what if her personal life had been kept personal and not brought into the storylines. I personally liked the heel Lita, i just wished they would have taken her in a different route and ended her career positively.

what if Alicia Fox was kept on smackdown with the story line as the wedding planner? what would have happened with her then.
I also agree with Marco about the Krissy Vaine story line and i also wonder..what if Torrie Wilson didn’t have that back injury that made her leave smackdown..do you think she would ever be divas champion or womens?
AND FINALLY…haha sorry i know this is getting long and im really looking into it..but what if Stacy Keibler never did dancing with the stars..do you think she would have stayed as a wrestler?
What If Chyna came back? What if Ashley got the push she was set to get last year? Would she have beaten Beth for the title? If Sable or Sunny would had never left in the 90′s? And speaking of Sable do you all think that there would have been a women’s championship today if she would have never appeared in the WWE?

I agree, I wish Trish and Lita never retired. They are the epitome of what a WWE diva should be like. And the diva search, shouldn’t have ever happened. That’s kind of obvious that Diva fans would never want them to retire though. :D But other than that I wish the Diva search never happened. Divas should work their way up, blood, sweat and tears to get to WWE and not just be beautiful. I realized that I love Maria as a model, because she’s stunning, but as a wrestler, that shouldn’t have been her career choices.
And also you have to think, models that go to WWE sometimes only want to be valets or managers, but WWE convinces them to train, so it’s not entirely their fault they half-ass it.
If there had never been a Diva Search, things would have been A LOT different. WWE gutted the Women’s Division in 2004 to make room for the Diva Search girls. Jacqueline, Jazz, Nidia and Gail Kim all got released and Molly Holly got busted down to a jobber. A year later, Victoria would begin her slow descent into WWE hell.
