The only thing I care about when it comes to wrestling at the moment, is what will happen with the Divas at WrestleMania. Logic dictates that we’ll get an ultimate letdown as with previous years, but with a renewed focus on actual wrestling and the abolishment of that dirty word starting with ‘P’, WWE has the chance this year to really put on a showcase worthy of WrestleMania.
However as the weeks past, less and less build takes place for the Divas as the rest of the roster seems to be in full gear to the biggest pay per view on the calendar. The Beth Phoenix-Melina feud seems to have run it’s course and is now clutching onto lifelines such as six person mixed tag matches to sustain the storyline and SmackDown has only just regained it’s Divas Champion.
Last night’s Raw really spoke to me; I realised WWE has no idea what to do next with Beth and Melina hence why they were tacked onto a six person match. So much for building to WrestleMania, meanwhile the intriguing Rosa Mendes angle seems to have stalwarted with no real development in the newcomer’s storyline.
But there was one tiny glimmer of hope on last night’s Raw and with a month to go till WrestleMania, the event can still be salvaged for our Divas. Last night, Vickie Guerrero became the interrim General Manager of Raw, making her the head honcho for both of WWE’s top shows. A great storyline device to allow interpromotional feuds to be set up for WrestleMania (Randy Orton-Triple H, John Cena-Edge, Undertaker-Shawn Michaels). I’m hoping that this can be used to rub off on the Divas too.
With Gail Kim not expected to debut until after WrestleMania, my predicted bout of Maryse vs Gail goes out the window. But with Guerrero bridging the gap between Raw and SmackDown, I would love to see one of the underutilised faces from Raw – and let’s face it, they’re in abundance – feud with the Divas Championship heading into the April event. And who better than Mickie James?
The most popular Diva in the WWE has found herself stiffed at the past couple of ‘Manias, her one and only match appearance took place in 2006. With Raw’s title picture revolving around Beth and Melina, it looks like she could find herself off the card again – but with Vickie now in power and SmackDown lacking a top babyface that can contend for the title, it seems perfect. Mickie’s WrestleMania cold shoulder seems almost unintentional, WWE do love Mickie and push her at least once a year although it hasn’t aligned unfortunately, in time for WrestleMania in the past couple of years. This could be a great opportunity to right that wrong, by giving Mickie a storyline with Maryse leading to WrestleMania.
There’s still time as the big event is still one month away. Maryse needs a fresh challenger (Maria is hardly competition) and Mickie needs something to do, seems like a match made in Diva heaven!

As far as I am concerned I have not given up on Gail Kim either making an appearance at WrestleMania or in the ring. The Promo is playing … a new promo might be on this weeks SmackDown … there are still a couple more promos to go, and another taping on March 3rd and the 17th, and the 17th is for the 500th episode of SmackDown, and the perfect time to bring Gail Kim back … so I have not given up yet. :)
I think it would do her injustice to bring her back a few weeks before Wrestlemania. So little attention is on the diva division anyway and with the biggest show being hammered out, people really aren’t going to care if she comes back a few weeks prior. They’re better off saving her until afterward, until the draft where it’ll actually make somewhat of an impact.
i think Michelle McCool will be part of Wrestlemania, i think she deserves it. && her heel storyline has been a success so i think something would come of that. I’d love to see Mickie in the picture but idk anymore.
I honestly don’t care with what the WWE does with the divas anymore. I’ve given up all hope. It’s such a shame too. The WWE has so many divas with so much potential and there just withering away when Wrestlemania’s around the corner. That should be when they should be in the spotlight even more. I honestly am sick and tired of the WWE right now.
Here’s how I feel about the Divas…..
Melina = Im sick of Melina. Its like ok we get it your the champ, your back. Im sick of having her shoved down our throats. I like Melina but she’s never really been that great as people claim she is. She’s so overated. She hould head over to SD in the draft. I think that would do her well. Ive always liked her on the blue team anyways. oh and maybe a heel turn sweetie.
Beth = Beth is pretty much stale now. She looks so weak getting beat by Melina and Rosa does absolutely nothing for her. Such a shame. Might as well cut the Glamazon from you name.
Rosa = Rosa, I like her but I mean WTF is she doing there? SHE’S USELESS!!!!! She should just be a manager for an ECW superstar. She’s HORRIBLE! Stay out of the ring sweetheart. Still think she’s pretty though.
Mickie = Mickie……….. See on draft day! :)
Candice, god bless her, she tries. She used to be my favorite diva up until she got hurt….but now its a different story. I miss the sexy, seductive, slutty Candice. The on we all hated to love. Now it seems like you guys just hate her.
Kelly = Kelly is such a breath of fresh air but just needs to be a tag partner IMO.
Layla = ONE OF THE BEST DIVAS, but with her situation right now…….. R.I.P We hardly knew you.
Jillian = same fate as Layla, sorry, Maybe a draft to SD?
Michelle = Loving her heel character just wish they would go somewhere with this story. One week she hates Maryse. The next week she hates Maria. the next week she hates Eve. Just a pick a girl and STICK WITH IT!
Maryse = My favorite diva at the moment on all 3 brands. Glad she’s the champ i just want her to defend her title at WM soooo badly. I dont care who her opponent is just give her a WM match! TRUST ME! SHE DESERVES IT!
Maria = God ive put so much faith into Maria. Whenever someone says she sucks i say give her a chance. Well not anymore. I used to be a big fan of her but I can obviously see she has wrestling on her mind a little less every week. Her website claming her to be a model singer actress but where’s wrestler? the very last? if she doesnt wanna be in the wwe no more then bye. theres tons of girls who would kill for her spot and she should give it up. I would miss her alot but it would be for the best. Sorry.
Eve = Keep up the good work. She’s so great and I hope and pray she has a long road in the WWE! Maybe even a divas champ title run in the future?
The Bella Twins = They’ve never really given me the “Diva” vibe but I still like them. I dont wanna see them split cuz I think they’re great together. I would like to see them turn heel though. they would make great heels. We’ll see where they go.
Alicia Fox = PLEASE GOD GET HER AWAY FROM THAT DJ!!! She needs to be on SD ASAP and compete for the Diva’s title. SHES SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO FREAKIN AMAZING and words cant describe how much it sux shes not being used to her potential! :( Please let 2009 be her year!!!!

Katie = Katie is the only diva id like to see get released cuz i cannot stand her. She “UGH!” She not as great as everyone says she is. Im fine with her being a manager but dont let her wrestle. I hate her.
Well in conclusion Im pretty fed up with what the wwe’s doing with there divas. And since all we get this week in a horrid six person mixed tag match, managing on ecw, and managing on SD i think its safe to say that ive given up hope. :)

artie i soo agree. i just started watching wrestling again in september && i’m pretty burnt out with everything. Maryse I just love her now, && I love Michelle heel, but so many divas are just ugh @ this point. I love Layla, but i think WWE has her so stale its not even funny, i hate to say this but i do think she’ll be released this year.

Don’t really care what happens with the divas at WM frankly. i’m kinda fed up. They’ll be lucky to get two 5 minute matches.

I really hope the Divas Match at WM25 isnt a pathetic 2 minute tag match we see every other week, ie It Might Be Raw vs Smackdown with Mickie and Melina vs Maryse and Michelle.
IMO Melina and Beth are both stale at the moment, Melina as a face just isn’t working, this smiley character she is putting on is quite rubbish and Beth has the same look on her face every week. Why can’t the WWE just have a random womens match on raw that doesn’t involve Beth or Melina? ie use Kelly. Mickie, Candice, Jillian and Layla.
I really hope the Smackdown Divas get the Wrestlemania spot, I know people have a very low opinion of the Divas Championship but if the wwe wants it to work they need to start doing something with it! The title hasn’t been defended in ppv since Unforgiven in September.
Whatever the match may be if there is one, guarenteed it will be a LumberJill Match so all the Divas get there WM Bonus!
What has become of women wrestling? So much potential was shown in 2008 through TNA and WWE, but now they are basically both just wasting all their talent. WWE couldn’t give a shit for the divas and there fans, I highly doubt we will ever see a divas match at a PPV that goes past 10 minutes. They are basically made fools out of, I mean seriously TAGS EVERY WEEK! WWE doesn’t care at all!
Hmmmm, I’ve lost all my hope in WWE now…
