Welcome the 2009 edition of Diva Draft! It feels like just yesterday when I was putting together last year’s Diva Draft and what a result! I successfully predicted both of the Diva Draft picks as Layla moved to Raw and Maria moved to SmackDown. So this year there’s the added pressure of keeping my streak intact! Unlike last year, the Draft has moved up to April 13th from it’s usual late-June slot meaning it comes just a week after WrestleMania. So over the next few days leading up to the big Draft show, I will be predicting my picks for this year’s Draft. Like last year, I’ll be making six picks but this time, in six consecutive days.
NATALYA TO RAW
In my next Draft pick, I aim to right a wrong that I feel was made with this here Diva, Natalya. When she first debuted in April of last year, I said from the get-go that I felt WWE missed the boat with this third generation star. With her family lineage and extremely impressive in-ring skills, I felt that Natalya should have been brought to Raw as a babyface. Given the rich history behind her family, including the fact that her uncle Bret Hart, is still one of the most celebrated and respected wrestlers of all time – I have always felt that by using her family ties WWE could put over Natalya as the top Diva in the WWE, a possible replacement for Trish Stratus. But alas, WWE wasted the opportunity to set this Diva apart from the rest and now she’s kind of been lost in the shuffle.
In the 2009 Draft, I would hope WWE finally utilises this multi-talented Diva and finally moves her to Raw where I think she could be a major force to be reckoned with. While she had the opportunity to become the first ever Divas Champion last year, I think Natalya is a much better fit for the Women’s Championship and I think she could eventually become one of the top heels on the entire Divas roster. If WWE played things right, rather than having her play second fiddle to Beth Phoenix, you could have Natalya go for the title while Beth is preoccupied with other things (i.e. Santina or a possible feud with Rosa Mendes). I would hate to see a talent like Natalya squandered under Beth, like Jillian.
Natalya definitely could become a face in future, if WWE draws enough on her family heritage. This girl is destined for big things, but up until this point they haven’t given her enough time to shine.

I think this would be a wise draft. Lets see everyone knows that the neidharts (if i misspelled sorry) were major players for those awsome storylines and matches, so we could add Natalya to the number 1 brand of wwe and what we’d have?
Entertainment every monday night (if she gets draft i’d love to see her feuding with Mickie James (Gosh or even Kelly Kelly to put her in the right path of wrestling). So i think ^that this Diva is very promising and very likely to get draft.
If she gets draft we could see her become a part of Legacy and the top heel of Raw (Beth is concerned with other Italian problems right now and her spot is kinda lost) My thoughts dont get me wrong…

This is the one that I’m really looking forward to happen.
Natalya is a good wrestler, shes great on the mic and she’s just the best diva as of now in terms of skill, I really think that it’s her time to shine and they should send Nattie to RAW.

with maryse moving to raw, there is no place for natalya there as a top heel.
i hope natlayla gets her shot at success in the future but she does not have the look that wwe vlaues in their women.

Ohhh and if Maryse goes to Raw you think she’ll be a top Heel? What is she gonna do? Feud Melina? Well she will have to get in line first. Besides is very unlikely that Maryse is going to be drafted (No ofense to the Diva-Dirt Support Team).

actually maryse can be a top heel on raw because wwe wants her to be one. melina is going to smackdown because wwe wants to build up the hispanic audience for that broadcast tv show.
mickie is going to be the top face on raw and maria/kelly will be used as secondary babyfaces.
beth is going to be fueding with santina and likely rosa so she is out of the title picture for now.
jillian/layla will just stick to their current roles on raw.

I wouldn’t talk of any of the Draft picks as if they are fact. Online news reports can and 50% of the time are wrong. We won’t know who is actually moving until tomorrow night (and Wednesday for the Supplemental Draft).

Well i Still believe Maryse wont be on Raw (my oppinion) but as far im concerned Michelle McCool could be drafted to Raw then we’d have Mickie vs Michelle (It would be great)

I’m hoping that Michelle goes to Raw, and Mickie goes to Smackdown. Then on Wednesday, have Candice move to Smackdown and turn heel. You could have Mickie, Gail, Maria, and Eve vs. Maryse, Candice, and their new cronies, the Bellas.
The problem with Raw, though, is Melina and Kelly would be the only babyfaces on Raw aganint Michelle, Beth. Rosa, Jillian, and Layla. Maybe draft Alicia Fox from ECW on Wednesday and, in a big move, turn Beth.

If Maryse goes to Raw, then Michelle McCool clearly wouldn’t follow behind her to Raw. Michelle would probably stay on Smackdown where I believe that Melina would be drafted to. I think in Natalya’s best interest, she should be drafted onto Raw as well. Now whether Natalya is a tweener, babyface, or heel is going to bring new light, but Smackdown had two top heels before, (Michelle and Maryse) so it wouldn’t be the first time that we’ve seen two top heels be put on the same brand. It’s possible that we could even see a fued between Natalya and Maryse just like how Michelle and Maryse had a fued. Anything is possible right now, so don’t underestimate the WWE and what they can to do with their talent, because they might end up shocking us all by flat out flipping Natalya’s gimmick.

online websites dont know anything!! just like other sites, they come up with these things to attract readers and get hits. the draft is kept very secretive and the superstars and divas dont know whats going to happen until it actually happens on TV. of course anything is possible but you have to remember that last year 2 divas changed brands and that was on the supplemental draft. wwe is not going to sit down and spend 3 days in a creative meeting debating which diva should really be where. all of this is just wishful speculation and thats why diva dirt does OUR potential draft picks of who we’d like to see go somewhere and y’all voice your opinions too, but dont base it off rumors on other websites because odds are really really slim they hold any truth to them

that internet report is likely accurate. it does make sense. mcmahon is high on maryse so he would move her to a the a show. .
michelle would go to raw but only if mcmahon sent undertaker there as well because he would not separate taker from his fiancee.
melina has been subpar as a babyface and it is time for mickie to get the top babyface spot back. melina could go to sd and help wwe raise the hispanic audience for the show.
if wwe sends rey mysterio and the ic belt to sd then you know that mvp will bring the U.S. title to raw.
candice has been asking management to go to sd and maria has been asking management to go back to raw.
they both have been in wwe since 2004 so tenure does play a role with management.
natalya will likley stay on ecw for now. the only thing she has going for her is her famous uncles, however mcmahon is not really “friends” with bret hart ever since that ingrate assaulted him in 1997 so she won’t get a push just because she is a member of the hart family. her cousin, dw smith is still stuck in developmental.
if wwe does decide to put smith into legacy then they could always put natalya into the group as its female rep.

Personally, I think a move to Raw would really help Natalya’s career, because right now, you barely even have memories of her, which for her sake, is not a good thing. Also, feuding with Beth or even Melina would earn The Diva’s division some respect or it could be a hell hole…who knows?

‘Ted’ it wouldn’t happen. Michelle and Maryse wouldn’t be drafted onto the same brand, simply because Michelle and Maryse’s fued has become boring. No one (including myself) wants to watch the same two Divas fued against each other over the same thing that they were fueding over in the first place and I’m quite certain that the WWE is not going to put us viewers through the same fued again. If Maryse goes to Raw, then it makes since for Melina to go to Smackdown where the Women’s Championship would be and Michelle McCool would probably be too. I’m questioning if seeing Natalya on Raw could actually happen simply, because I could see Natalya staying on Smackdown as well. I am sticking to my idea that Maryse and Gail will finally fued for the Divas Championship, Beth Pheonix will probably fued with Santina, and Michelle McCool will fued with Melina over the Womens Championship. The last fued would be fresh, but if Michelle stays on Smackdown where Melina is expected to be drafted, then it makes sense since Michelle would probably be the top heel that they were pushing for the championship seeing as how Beth wherever she goes would probably still be fueding with Santina. I’m questioning what will happen to Natalya, Alicia Fox, Jillian, Maria, Kelly Kelly, Mickie, Katie Lea, and Candice Michelle simply because I know that the WWE can’t afford for Gail to be a failure which is why I believe that she will follow in Maryse’s tracks. Maybe if Gail Kim becomes Divas Champion Natayla could end up fueding with the babyface over the championship, or maybe if Natalya stays on Smackdown she could fued with Melina for the Women’s Championship. Anything is possible, but I know that the WWE is going to have Gail following in Maryse’s foot steps for a shot at the Divas Championship. It’s just common sense.

WRONG. MARYSE FAN. gail kim is staying on smackdown. plain and simple. the stroyline between her and maryse has been dropped just like the matt/jeff hardy storyline has been dropped since matt is going to raw.
wwe really does not give a crap about gail kim. wwe ONLY SIGNED her to get her away from tna. wwe may give her a push on sd but it is not like she is a main event star that they are paying a million dollars per year. she is just a diva.
mickie is the top face on raw. melina will likley be the top face on sd and gail if she remains a face will be her sidekick.
the draft usually changes storylines and no one ever told gail kim that she would be the next divas champion so don’t expect wwe to allow gail to “follow” maryse to raw unless she is her secret , real life lesbian lover.

Gail and Michelle staying on Smackdown with Maryse moving to Raw would make no sense given that the Divas matches on the last two Smackdown shows were building to a Maryse-Gail match for the Divas title that hasn’t happened. If Maryse is the one leaving, why have a Gail-Michelle match so soon as they did on Friday with Gail beating Michelle fair and square? And why have the announcers, during that match, talk about Gail facing Maryse?

‘Ted’ you’re entitled to think what you want and I’m entitled to think what I want and I’m entitled to disagree with you just as how you are entitled to disagree with me. That’s the beauty of an opinion. But here is how I know what you’re saying isn’t going to happen. The WWE would not have hired Gail Kim just to put on their roster and Gail Kim would not have signed with the company just to be an extra when on TNA she was a top babyface. Face the obvious facts, Gail Kim is not going to be put on the same brand as Melina. It’s point blank obvious that the WWE is going to give Gail the opportunity to fued with Maryse for the DIvas Championship, otherwise Gail coming at the time that she did would not have made any sense. Gail Kim would not have come at the time that she did and made the debut that she did for nada that just doesn’t make any sense, the WWE wouldn’t have done that. The difference between Jeff and Matt Hardy is that the two fueded…did Maryse and Gail fued? That’s right they didn’t fued which makes it obvious that the very 1st babyface to get a shot at Maryse’s championship will go to Gail Kim. The WWE wouldn’t have showed Maryse last week on Smackdown watching the match for nothing, Gail Kim wouldn’t have held the Divas Championship up showing that she wanted it for nothing, and Gail Kim wouldn’t have debuted this early for nothing – it was all done for a reason. The reason was so that when the draft comes about Gail Kim can finally get a ‘character’, she can finally get a shot at what she wants which is the Divas Championship, but you can disagree with me. We’ll just wait and see what happens.

i do disagree with you for the following reasons.
one, gail kim signed with wwe only for the money. wwe offered her 3 times the money she was making in tna.
gail said that if tna could have come close to wwe’s offer in any manner, she would have stayed in tna.
gail has been sitting around under wwe contract for a few months and wwe realized that mania was a good time to debut her even though she debuted a week earlier on smackdown.
wwe wants to keep the audeince guessing about the storylines. big deal, maryse watched the gail kim/michelle match; it is her job to watch the match as long as she is on sd herself.
matt hardy said that he wants to wipe his brother out of wwe. he is supposed to say that in the storyline but when matt is moved to raw this monday, the jeff/matt storyline is OVER. it does not matter that jeff never got revenge on his brother; the storyline is over/
the same thing goes for gail. once melina comes to sd in the draft as the women’s champion, gail’s focus will be on becoming melina’s sidekick or fueding with melina or fueding with candice or michelle.
when gail signed with wwe, she did it because at age 32 she wanted the six figure salary; wwe did not guarantee her a fued with maryse or the divas title.

Matt Hardy and Jeff Hardy fueded. Maryse and Gail Kim have not fueded. You can’t compare two completely different storylines to one another when one fued has happen and another one is being built up, lol. That just doesn’t make any sort of sense. The WWE is not going to put Gail Kim on the same brand as the other top babyfaces like Melina, Mickie, and Candice Michelle. That just wouldn’t make any sense and this arguement that you are trying to bring up on salary isn’t making any sense. You can assume that Gail only took this job for the salary, because that’s your opinion but do not get upset, or argumentative just because other people disagree with you. I understand that you were trying to make an argument by saying that Jeff and Matt’s fued has ended, but the difference is that this fued between Ms Kim and Maryse hasn’t even started yet – the WWE has simply just been sending us viewers little messages. The WWE can not do the same thing that they do with their main stream male superstars with the Divas. They just can’t, otherwise that would cut into the main stream male superstars airtime and the WWE would never let that happen. The WWE is not going to throw Gail Kim behind the other top babyfaces that doesn’t even make sense, especially when the champ that will be on Smackdown (in your predicition) is Melina. Melina wouldn’t fued with a babyface if anyone she’d probably fued with Michelle McCool, or another heel who didn’t have a fued with her. But Maryse? The WWE isn’t going to give Maryse a brand new fued what sense would that make when they’ve been hyping up a fued on-screen and in house-shows? Lol, your whole Gail Kim would be pushed back doesn’t make sense and I think you know that it doesn’t make sense. Maybe Gail Kim isn’t your favorite Diva, or maybe you just don’t want her being given any shine, but the WWE is clearly going to let her fued with Maryse.

With all due respect, MaryseFan, I think you need to realize that this is the WWE where ‘anything can happen’. They’re currently booking their shows (allegedly) on a day-to-day basis. As long as Maryse is on SD, she’s their champion and she has to scout out the other women on the show. Gail may be getting wins right now building up to a feud between Maryse and herself, but because the writers love to ‘shake things up’ completely with the draft, it’s very plausible that the feud could end abruptly and Gail’s current push shoved aside should Melina be drafted to SD or whatever. Just because they’re building the storyline as they would any other, doesn’t mean they’re going to go through with it. Quite a few storylines have been suddenly ended because of the draft.
Now onto the actual topic of this post. I’d personally love Natalya to go to RAW and get a real push. She’s heavily underrated and under used. I’d also love to see her ditch Tyson Kidd (on-screen at least, I know they’re engaged irl).

maryse fan, all the internet journalists reported that gail kim signed with wwe because of the money they offered her.
gail loved tna. she was the one who pushed tna to create a women’s division. the fact was that tna was unable or unwilling to even come close to wwe’s contract offer. at 32, gail kim knows that she does not have many more years left in wrestling if she decides to get married and one start a family so she took wwe’s offer. it was a business decision.
wwe fired gail kim in 2004 so it is not like she ran back to wwe for love; she returned because it was in her best
financial interests to return to wwe.
as far as the maryse/gail kim fued goes, wwe is under no obligation to run it. storylines change all the time.
there are reports that maryse is moving to raw and melina is going to sd in an exchange of champions; this means that the maryse/kim fued is over since the only other 2 divas reported to change brands are maria and candice.
diva fueds are filler so maryse is not going to tell wwe that gail needs to come to raw so they can have that epic, shocking, stupendous that maryse fan wants to see before she leaves this earth.
besides, since mcmahon is so high on maryse, he would likley have her beat gail kim clean in the ring.

‘Mpezza’ I was not saying what the WWE could and could not do. I was just simply stating my opinion on what I believe the WWE could do. Yes, the WWE could easily put Melina and Gail Kim on the same brand away and apart from Maryse, but they could also put Maryse and Gail Kim on the same brand and apart from Michelle. Anything is possible I am simply just assuming what could happen by how Gail and Maryse’s fued has been served to us.

pwpix.net is reporting that only 4 divas are changing places this year. maryse is taking her belt to raw.
melina is taking her belt to sd. in the supplemental draft, candice is going to sd and maria is going to raw.
unless gail hides in maryse’s sutcase, she is not going to raw. maybe wwe is saving the epic maryse.gail fued as the main event of mania 26 ? it will easily oversahadow hbk/taker match and it will assure wwe of a 1.5 million ppv buyrate.

Okay, ‘Ted’ I’m done debating over something that neither of us know for certain. I was simply stating my opinion, so their is really no need to get into this huge debate over something that’s based on opinion. If Maryse and Gail do not fued, then they do not fued it’s nothing to keep throwing out, I was simply stating my opinion and whether you agree with my opinion or not isn’t going to change my opinion. I’ll just wait and see like everyone else who will be drafted where.
