Finally, after a hiatus due to the events of WrestleMania 25, FCW has returned with another weekly event featuring our Divas in training. This week, we were treated to the encounter between ECW’s Alicia Fox and Raw’s Rosa Mendes. However, there was no Express News & Gossip featuring the Octo-Mom Jenny Cash; apparently she has adopted a new gimmick as the valet of a Frenchman and now wears a French Maid outfit to the ring. I’m kind of heartbroken and at a loss for words… anyway, check out the action below, featuring the Queen of FCW Angela Fong as the ring announcer.
FCW 04/05/2009: ALICIA FOX VS. ROSA MENDES
Talk about a slobberknocker! This match was kind of slow to start off with and there were two botches I saw during the match, but looking at the bigger picture, I really enjoyed this match. Alicia Fox is really growing on me more and more every time I see her in the ring (hint hint WWE, I said in the ring not standing outside the ring doing nothing). She is really coming into her own as a wrestler and is truly unique. I also think Rosa Mendes is becoming better. Judging from this match and a few others she’s had, she’s not completely polished but she puts on a great show. As a heel, she does a great job by yelling at the fans, taunting Alicia, and screaming. With just a little more training, she probably wouldn’t botch that monkey flip that Alicia Fox tried to execute.
To top it all off, Alicia Fox also ended up getting a bloody lip! That either means Rosa messed up and really clocked Alicia in the face or these two are just getting better in the ring to where their fighting is that intense, which I love seeing.
Pretty much my only concern with this match other than the botch is the ending. I don’t quite get how Alicia lost. The axe kick she performed at the end is her finishing move, but somehow Rosa just “gets up” and two moves later, rolls Alicia up for the victory. Aside from how much I hate matches that end with a silly roll-up, isn’t the point of a finishing move to… finish the match? Granted if you’re HBK, you can kick out of a Tombstone. But to have Rosa play it off like it was just a regular little kick seems kind of bad to me.
My verdict of this match is that Alicia is ready to move on up out of the shadows in ECW and get drafted to either Raw or SmackDown. I think she’d do well on either show, so long as WWE does it right creatively. Rosa, however, could probably be better off on SmackDown to fix up the little glitches here and there. Angela still doesn’t do it for me as the ring announcer, but if the rumors are true and she is coming to Raw, then I’m not sure what will happen. Seems like the entire FCW roster is pouring out onto WWE television and I think that’s going to leave Jenny Cash and Wesley Holliday as the only ones left there full-time. Angela might not jump into the ring right off the bat, but the Divas roster will be around 19 or 20!
Overall, I loved the match and it’s great to see these two lovely Divas improving so much in the ring.

I’m pretty sure I’ve said it before, but I’ll say it again: Rosa does nothing for me. I just don’t think she can cut it in the big leagues just yet. Her skills are just not polished enoughs. I know she has potential, but Tiffany seems more comfortable in the ring and she’s been training for a fraction of the time Rosa has. On a side note: This match was more entertaining than Gail vs Michelle which is kinda sad. I liked Alicia’s Capoeira flips and counters, but they come off a little botchy if you ask me. Points for originality, though. Overall, a decent match.

it was an ok match. i’m tired of seeing that yellow outfit milena is wearing.i would love to see alicia in the ring more often and am i the only who finds that girl who is screaming in the video super annoying.

watching this match, i kinda felt rosa is tryin to act heel like maryse, with all the hand movements and stuff,
and i dont like it at all, i dont even like rosa, i found her so irritating she comes off very slow imo.

RosaAHHHH Mendes , is just uck to me. She must be eatin sloppy joe’s left and right cause ole girl came out their actin mess in that ring! And I for one 100% agree that Rosa needs to retire that ugly yellow two piece lookin like she stole it straight out of the Bella twins closet, girl someone must inform you that its not OK to look like a cartoon character cause you look the same every time i see you.
As far as Alicia i enjoy seeing the only black girl gettin her shine on. I like her style of wrestling it’s very Kofi Kingston, but i can NOT get over that hair. Christmas needs to be today cause she needs someone to just buy her some nice hair for once, in fact let’s start a pay pal account called : “The Alicia Fox foundation For better Weaves.” So that tomorrow can be better day! lol

Alana, I’m irritated by Alicia’s hair too. I have yet to see an african american women’s wrestler with a good weave. if your gonna wear weave you gotta get a good one. a fusion weave would work for her. even though they’re expensive, they look great.

I feel as though Roucka tries too hard. I can’t exactly pinpoint what I don’t like about her, but from the wanton entrance, to the ring attire, to the textbook heelish tactics…like many, she just doesn’t do it for me. Few female heels, in my opinion can really pull the role off without coming off very trite…and Roucka is not one of them.

I agreem with the majority here, Rosa does nothing for me to me she isn’t a standout wrestler and its quite suprising that she was once the OVW Womens Champion. She’s quite sloppy in the ring and her moveset is nothing to exciting or adventurous, once the whole Glamarella situation phases out I think Rosa will jst get lost in the shuffle of Divas in the Wwe. She’s not one of the prettier divas either tbh, sometimes looks like a man in drag!
Alicia on the other hand is one of my favourite divas and i am eager to see her compete more in the wwe ring against other divas. Ok she had a couple of botches but her dropkicks were executed well and she has a ring prescence. Can definitely see her doing better within the wwe.

I am going to agree with everyone else and use the same sentence: Rosa does nothing for me. Her moves are sloppy, and she tries way too hard at being a heel. Like someone else said, she almost does a Maryse thing with the hand motions, but can’t pull it off as well as Maryse. She is very boring to me and I am never excited to see her. In fact, just the opposite.
I am a fan of Alicia and can’t wait to see her get more ring time on WWE television. It will be nice to see her continue to improve in the ring, too. If she keeps training and is used correctly, I think she could be a top Diva in the future.
