In a focus piece on the lifes and times of one of the great female wrestlers, the Times & Transcript has posted a new interview with Trish Stratus. The legendary 7 time Women’s Champion however, has some criticism for her former employer – calling the current WWE women’s division “disappointing.” Considering some of the stuff we’ve put up with as viewers, who can fault her?
She says the current state of WWE’s women’s division leaves a lot to be desired. Storylines, character development and in-ring action aren’t really the focus.
“It is disappointing,” she says. “I think what it is, they have too many women. And I think they can’t even see who’s who because there’s so many of them. I think they need someone maybe that can focus on the women.”
Trish would like to see WWE realize that they have different personalities and women who can provide different elements to the show. She still chats with current WWE divas and says they are frustrated with the lack of direction their division has.
If WWE can’t listen to it’s audience, surely the greatest Diva in it’s company’s history pointing out the same issues that we have is a glaring insight? I would hope someone, somewhere in the company reads this and maybe they’ll finally see what we see. The fact that Trish boycotted their biggest event is also very telling and I’m really glad she stood her ground, it would’ve been hypocritical for her to appear at WrestleMania and then make these remarks. I admire Trish’s stance, why appear on their show if you don’t believe in their product?
I agree, there are far too many women on the roster right now and it’s unnecessary to have that many girls. I wouldn’t have a problem if they actually used all of their Divas in roles that contributed, but you have girls like the Bella Twins, Eve Torres, Tiffany and Maria to name a few, that just stand on the sidelines and do nothing. And when they are used, they take away television time from Divas that actually are well-rounded and have the potential to get over.
There are currently six Divas on the roster that have the true potential to be top Divas, yet not all of them are given the time and attention they deserve: Beth Phoenix, Gail Kim, Mickie James, Melina, Maryse and Michelle McCool. WWE needs to focus on where their talent is and not on the ‘lesser’ Divas.
However, one of the reasons they have so many women on the roster right now and part of the reason they push so little Divas and throw them out there collectively with 25 Diva battle royals and 18 Diva tag matches, is because of Trish Stratus. There is certainly a correlation between Trish’s departure and this new mass-booking. Since she left, WWE has been reluctant to put the time and effort into pushing a single or even two or three Divas, as their new top Diva(s) and their ‘Trish replacement’. It all boils down to the fact that WWE are not willing to give any of the current women the same opportunities as Trish, even though the likes of Mickie, Melina and Beth deserve it. Hence why instead of pushing one-on-one feuds, we get crappy feuds that involve all of the Divas.

Im so glad trish realized how crappy the division is today ?. They do have to any talents that are not even needed.And you know the worst part of this whole problem ? WWE still wont do shit to make it better….they still will do 3 minute matches. But they have some crappy segements that are longer than any other divas match. If they wont put time and effort into the wwe divas then just get rid of them b cuz clearly they dont care. Im so sick of being a diva fan and we cant even get what we want…we still havent see a encounter with Beth and Natalya..but you could tell them to have Michelle Mccoool face off against Maria.But we cant see a Beth vs Natalya match.Its a shame really.

Hahaha I love Trish..she knows best and she see’s we divas fan see.Its true they have so many divas on the roster and they dont even use all of them.Like the Bella twins. They havent even got pinned yet in a tag team match in which i find so retarted.Instead of having a Beth vs Gail Kim match. They rather show Michelle vs Eve or Kelly kelly vs Jillian.I bet you wwe never stop to think how the divas feel ?. Maybe they have some ideas to ake their divison better.We should be having Fatal Four way for a nuber 1 contender ship ?. Not six diva tag team matches every Damn WEEK.
I agree with MelinavsMickie.We do have 3 minute matches. But they will have a 9 Minute segment with Hornswaggole.
I hope really really hope wwe reads this and steps it up…while this thursday on Impact we will see the SECOND ever Womens Ladder Match…Tonight on Raw we will see Mayrse,Beth and Jillian vs Mickie and the Bellas….a I right or wrong…It shows which Company cares about there female wrestlers and which one does not….

The Wwe really should not have 20 divas on the roster at the moment when they ain’t doing nothing with them. I agree that the wwe should use Melina, Mickie, Beth, Maryse, Michelle and Gail more. Clearly Diva Dirts favourite divas but i still believe divas like Layla, Kelly and Alicia are the future of the division. I’d throw Natalya in there too but Natalya is obviously more accomplished in the ring than them and shes a generational star so the wwe are big on that so she’ll still have a job in years to come.
Wwe needs to chuck the Boring Bellas, Maria who has hung around for far too long now, Rosa who sucks in the ring tbh and i hate to say it but they shud jst let Jillian go if they aint goin to do nothing with her and waste her talents in the ring like they have done for the past year or so.

WWE releases its quarterly financial report in May, and with Wrestlemania 25 PPV buys either bad or BAD,
plus with 12 Rounds tanking, expect the “future endeavors” press release to overheat and a thinning of the Diva roster.
Please correct me if Im wrong………..WWE keeps so many Divas on the roster because of the photoshoots,
they generate $$$ for WWE.com, isnt that why the Cease and Desist letters went out to close down the other Diva web sites………..it was costing WWE $$$ ??

There are too many Divas on the Divas roster and you know Angela Fong is about to get called up because on wwe.com in a edition of Word Up, the identity of the mysterious ”Yummi Girl” who keeps texting JTG will be revealed. So that will make 21 Divas on the Divas roster
Here’s my opinion:
Keep: Beth Phoenix, Gail Kim, Jillian Hall, Katie Lea, Maryse, Melina, Michelle McCool, Mickie James, Natalya, Lilian Garcia, Alicia Fox, Layla, Kelly Kelly
Release: The Bella Twins, Candice, Eve Torres, Maria, Rosa Mendes, Tiffany
Here’s why:
- The Bella Twins: The ”twins” gimmick has been done many times also the ”Twin” act has gotten old after their matches with Natalya and Victoria on Smackdown
- Candice: Ever since she gotten injured, she lost the spark she had in 2007. She’s probably not going to get used on Smackdown.
- Eve Torres: Yeah, she improving slowly but she’s not even ready yet to be in the ring
- Maria: WWE needs to release her already, Maria already made it clear on her website that she doesn’t want to be in WWE anymore based on her website saying of what she is: ”Model, Actress, Singer”. She doesn’t know how to wrestle but sure she can kind of work but with the right person
-Rosa Mendes: Now the situation with Milena is that I heard she’s ready to be in the ring but needs to work on her selling moves and bumps. The storyline with Glamarella is that Beth Phoenix was going to catch Santino cheating on Beth with Rosa so that would have turned Beth into a face but that storyline has been abandoned because WWE decided to go with the ”Santina Marella” storyline so in my opinion she serves no purpose on the Divas roster anymore…why is she still there?…just to serve as the lackey of Beth Phoenix??..sure she’s has a exotic rare look that WWE likes.
-Tiffany: Now not much is known about this Diva but all I know is that she really wants to learn to wrestle and based of the that Tag Match match on RAW right before WM 25, she seems promising.

I agree with spike on the divas we should keep.But I would also add Candice. Im not a big fan of candice i use to dislike her but as of late I started to see potential in her.Unlike maria candice starts to show that she wants to learn more.
wwe should keep Beth,Mickie,Melina,natalya,katie,jillian,layla,kelly kelly,alicia fox,gail kim,candice and michelle.
I think this way with less divas every one could get there share of in ring time.
Raw should have:Mickie,Natalya,Gail Kim,Alicia Fox,Beth and Katie Lea.

Trish Stratus is gone. I wish that the WWE would get over it and give other Divas a chance. There are Divas on the roster that others before me have mentioned who are just as talented as Trish and have ability to get over, but are just never given the chance. It has to be frustrating to them.

We’ve been trying to see where Candice has been heading for years now. She didnt deserve the Women’s Belt and she has gotten worse. I say make her a manager if she is staying or release her already. Hire a real woman wrestler to take that spot!!

I don’t agree that there are too many Divas….the problem is the same as always….there’s no one in charge of the division speaking for them and forcing the higher ups to appreciate their value as workers. The Divas division needs someone like Scott D’amore to come in and just take the reins…and allow the Divas to cut loose….I know in the past Stephanie McMahon expressed interest in overseeing the Divas and it’s way past time for her to do so.
