Just two weeks from her big Hollywood break, as a contestant on NBC’s “I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!”, Torrie Wilson has been on a promotional spree for the series. In an interview with AOL today, Torrie blows the whistle on Divas partaking in backstage politics – something we hear less about in comparison to the men:
We often hear about the backstage politics with the male wrestlers. How much politics exists between the WWE Divas?
It’s hard to say. I know that there are girls that did, you know, live or die by what TV exposure they got that night. I just never really fell for any of that, and kind of did my own thing. I just always had that mindset that if I was going to be used it’s great, and if I wasn’t, it’s not going to affect the way I feel about myself when I look in the mirror.
Not naming any names, but I’m sure I can take a guess as to who Torrie could be talking about. I guess it’s harder to get on television when you’re a Diva, I remember back in 2004-2005, when Torrie was SmackDown’s top Diva but was barely seen on TV for weeks at a time. Let us not forget, that in the present day the Women’s Champion is considered ‘disposable’ so that pretty much throws the whole balance up in the air…
Interviewer, Ariel Helwani also talks about drug abuse among the Divas – again, something we never hear about:
How prevalent is the use of performance-enhancement drugs with the WWE Divas? Is that a big problem?
No, not at all. I never once in my eight years in wrestling felt any pressure to use drugs at all.I have read that it was an issue only because you are expected to look just as good as the men, yet you are always wearing very little and being judged mainly on your looks.
I honestly don’t know. I wouldn’t know, personally, if any of the other women used drugs. I can only speak for myself in saying that I am a very anti-steroids and anti whatever agents that you need to look the way you want to look. I believe in the old adage of eating well and working out. I’m a big runner, so as long as you’re running, you can get in your bikini.
I think a lot of people consider these issues when it comes to the men, but never stop to think about the women. So thumbs up to the interviewer and Torrie for touching upon this subject.

I don’t know much about the performance-enhancing drugs, but I definitely know that quite a few divas have gotten their hands on the plastic surgery bug during their last few years in the E. Victoria, Torrie Wilson & Jillian Hall are all products of it. Not that it’s bad. It could make ya look great (Torrie), not bad (Victoria) and completely disgusting (Jillian).
But on backstage politics, I’m going to try my hand at guessing again. Especially since I seen her shoot video last year. When she was on Smackdown, I’d say Sable was definitely on hand and probably even Melina! On RAW? I’m going out on a limb and I know a lot of people don’t want their fabulous Trish Stratus decked, but yeah. I’m gonna go with Trish. I remember another interview where Nidia tip-toed around a question asking if she had problems with Trish and said something like, she’s a “business-woman”.
Not that it’s bad. Just who I think slipped into that role.

Sable was definitely one of the Divas that gave Torrie problems, according to Torrie herself. Torrie mentioned in her RF Video interview that Sable didn’t like her and randomly mentioned in the locker room one time about how her 1999 Playboy issue sold more than Torrie’s 2003 issue. Torrie’s response was basically, “What’s your point?”

All the divas have has plastic surgery. They all have breast augmentations. Some larger and not needed to be that big, take Jillian for example her breasts are huge but she doesnt need them to stand out cuz she has her..err…voice. But back on to topic. I think Torrie handled this very well. She answered the questions very well and didnt point any fingers.
Its strange too…in the interview it was mentioned about backstage politics, In WWE right now one of the current WWE Divas in in one.
Torrie seemed like the type of Diva inthe bussness that “goes with the flow”. I respect that from her though because this proves she doesnt like to be all “oh look at me, im better than you” she seems like the diva that nayone can get along with.

If you think carefully, most of the divas must take some kind of drugs…I mean, it’s hard to talk about it, and I give Torrie credit for beeing honest…
I don’t blame the wwe divas for taking drugs, I mean, imagine going to the ring and doing all that in 6 minutes and NOT lookin sloppy and unfocused (MARIA, I bet she’s not on drugs) plus acting as a character that someone told you to act as…
On a different subject, PLASTIC SURGERY, I mean, it’s obvious that all divas had a little retouch here and there…
The most retouched have to be Lil’ Jilly (my fave diva EVER), Candice has also LOTS of things goin there, same with Melina, The Bellas, Torrie, Sable, Sunny, Dawn Marie, Gail Kim…I don’t think there’s big problems with that, with the exception of Jillian and Candice, the divas aren’t that retouched…I still think these 2 look acceptably good…

re: Drug use amoung Diva’s. I think it should be defined what kind of drugs are being used. the Divan’s may not have been affected or being involved in allegations of steroid use, but what about other kinds of diet and weight loss pills? Given the pressure they are under to maintain their looks or look a certin way combined with all the traveling and odd hours they keep I can’t see them not having been tempted to over use them.
re: Politics, given how much the men were involved, how could the Divas not be involved as well? In fact the politicing amoung Diva’s may have been even greater amoung the women than the men given how much fewer opportunities the Diva’s were and are given to show what they can do or be anything more than eye candy.

Well I know that. I didn’t include the breast augmentation because fake breasts and women of wrestling seem to go hand and hand. I more meant cosmetic surgery to the face.
But yeah.. uhm. I think the only divas with real breasts right now, are pretty much Alicia Fox, Maria, Lillian & possibly the Bellas and Kelly Kelly. ALICIA FOX’s are my fav ones :-P
