Every week all us women’s wrestling tune in to RAW, SmackDown, or ECW hoping to see our favorite Diva in action. With all the glitz and glamour of WWE, it’s easy to forget where our girls got started. That’s why I’ve decided to send to guys on a trip to the past, to see your favorite Diva’s humble beginnings. Let’s kick things off with one of Smackdown’s newest Divas: Alicia Fox.

Alicia Fox vs Beth Phoenix

AFTER:

Alicia Fox vs Natalya

Wow, what a difference a few years can make. In her first singles match against Beth Phoenix, Alicia looked like she was in the middle of her first week of training. She wasn’t horrible, but the whole match seemed really stiff and rehearsed, a far cry from her recent work. As you can see above Alicia has surpassed expectations by putting out a great match with a season veteran like Natalya. If she can keep up this progression, I imagine we’ll see her with gold before too long.

Katie Lea vs Serena

Katie Lea vs Alicia Fox

Katie Lea has been competing for way longer than the average Diva and it’s evident in these matches. The biggest difference between now and then is Katie Lea personality. Katie doesnt have the same charisma that made her the top heel in OVW. Hopefully, with the scarce Diva roster on ECW, Katie can stand out and make a name for herself

Mickie James vs Maryse

Mickie, Mickie, Mickie. Mickie James‘ skill level in OVW is about the same as the present day. The biggest change Mickie made for her WWE debut was her image.Unfortunely, Mickie didn’t dress as well as she wrestled. The style change is definately welcome. I have a feeling all those bright colors and mismatched sneakers wouldn’t fly in WWE. I guess theres no lights in the locker rooms in Kentucky.

  1. I certainly wished they send Kelly Kelly to development like Victoria Crawford/Alicia Fox. Although she’s improving, she certainly would’ve been as polished as Alicia (and she’s clearly NOT). But I guess if they did, than she wouldn’t be the second face of the RAW women’s division now. So.. would you rather sacrifice ring work, or popularity? Hmm..

A lot of people still think that WWE will let Katie Lea go in the future, but I don’t think so. She’s been on RAW and in ECW in a managerial role for a while now but it has given her some depth and character. When they finally make her a full time ring competitor I think her star will rise. She has the looks, mic skills and she can wrestle ( although she probably needs to work the WWE style more to have better diva matches. And change her finisher. It’s too boring )

I love Mickie James. I think out of all the girls, she is one of the brightest. The ” Trish Stratus ” I guess.. since people like comparing everyone to Trish. I’m personally hoping she’ll get to be bigger and brighter throughout the years. Crossing fingers for another heel turn!

    Someone “definitely” needs spell check.

  3. ^^^^ Wow, was it really worth all that trouble to point out I mispelled a word? Thanx anyway, though. -_- ‘ I ‘definitely’ appreciate it.

  4. @ beau :
OMG how rude…I mean, diva-dirt’s “staff” kept us entertained for a long time, all you’ve got to do is kiss all their boom-booms and thank them for everyhting they’ve done and you “definately” can’t do that.
About the post, I think all the divas look better now, Mickie is almost the same, Alicia is WAAAAY better and Katie Lea is a little bit better but she needs to have more matches.

  5. I really didn’t mean for anything to come off rudely. I am thankful everyday for this site. I think Melanie, Erin, and Steven do a great job. I’m just critical – which I guess is something I should work on. I can’t help it. Steven is a great writer. I’m just accustomed to Melanie and Erin’s exquisite, error-free work. It was just one thing I happened to notice.

This really was a nice post though. I actually think Katie Lea’s ring work looked better prior to WWE – though I’ll be a better judge of that when she actually gets any ring time.

  6. Im really impressed with how far Alicia has come, the pairing with Michelle will only help her further as shes likely to get more screen time. I think when Michelle eventually gets the womens title, Alicia may turn on her and have a title run of her own.

Katie Lea has never done anything for me, I think she just lacks that spark. Shes very good in the ring its just as MarBu13 said she needs to work on the WWE style more and without a doubt change that finisher, it never gets a reaction.

Mickie is suprising, other than the change style-wise, she hasn’t changed that much. Shes obviously become more polished but even in those early videos she seemed a pro. Definitely just a great all round wrestler.

  7. Bad grammar here.
