This week, most of our favourite television shows are winding down for the season and it’s usually in the season finales, that show writers go all out. Deaths, weddings, big reveals and plenty of high drama! WTF at Lost? Oh my God at Grey’s Anatomy and so forth… Now if WWE programming ran in seasons, this week’s episode of SmackDown saw the Divas capturing the high drama and excitement that it takes to put on a show-stopping, jaw-dropping finale.
Needless to say, I can’t wait to begin raving about what I thought was an excellent match; when we saw the SmackDown debut of Melina teaming up with Gail Kim to take on Alicia Fox and Michelle McCool. Watch below:
Very rarely do I use the word ‘excellent’ in these Redux posts, but in my humble opinion, I felt the Divas tag team match this week was excellent. Melina’s SmackDown return didn’t disappoint, despite being sidelined for a few weeks she looked absolutely glowing, I have to say. Not that she doesn’t look beautiful usually, but I can’t quite put my finger on it, but I thought she looked ultra-sexy this week. In this match we have three women who I think the SmackDown women’s division will and should be built around; three very different, unique women. All three of these Divas are exceptional in the ring, they all have innovative styles and they all have different looks. We rag on WWE about their ‘cookie cutter blonde’ image, but I think it’s very strong imaging that your top two babyfaces on SmackDown don’t conform to that standard.
This match kicks off straight away, pulling no punches, with what I think is a future pay per view caliber match – Melina vs Michelle. As Todd Grisham points out later on commentary, Melina’s very first match on WWE television was against Michelle on SmackDown in 2005, so it’s great to see just how far these two have come four years later. Starting the match we have what looks to be a very intense scuffle, before Michelle tags out to Alicia ‘Battering Ram’ Fox. Since joining SmackDown, she’s competed in two matches and both of them have seen her get in very little offense on her opponents.
This is a true test for Alicia, can she hang with three of the best female wrestlers on the WWE roster? And the answer is yes. I think Alicia has developed so much, she had some great matches with Natalya and Katie Lea on ECW and while she may not get in much offense, she can work a match believeably and sells very well. Some good work from Melina, who hits a great arm-drag and then we see Gail tag in. Here’s where I think the match really picks up. With the reports last week that WWE is ‘souring’ on Gail, looks like Vince and co. need to take a look at this match because Gail was on-point. I think this is Gail’s breakthrough match with the company during this current run; she was the MVP of this match. We saw more fire and intensity and more innovation, than we’ve ever seen from Gail in the past couple of months. From the hurricanrana, which was sold very nicely by Alicia, to her use of the ropes, she was on fire. Then we have a spot that looked awesome but definitely had me going ‘Ouch’, Michelle pulling Gail off the apron… wow.
Michelle tags back in and we get to see some more work between Gail and Michelle, following their awesome work together in the past few weeks. These two have a good chemistry and as always, worked very well together here, with Gail showing more of her unique style. The way she climbed the ropes into that modified Sliced Bread #2 was fantastic.
From there Melina gets the hot tag and seems to have Michelle’s number until Alicia interferes. Alicia is sent through the ropes by Gail (Kelly and Jillian take note), and a very nice dropkick through the ropes by Gail. Meanwhile in the ring, Melina executes one of the best Diva finishers going – the Last Call for the win.
An awesome match from start to finish.
Later in the evening, we also saw the continuation of the feud between Eve and Layla. This time Eve gets the upper hand, with a little coercion from Cryme Tyme. Hopefully they’ll go at it in the ring next week and eventually be integrated into the rest of the women’s division, maybe Gail, Melina & Eve vs Michelle, Alicia and Layla? Watch below:

Amazing Code Red! Amazing return! Amazing Melina! (LOL)
May 15, 2009 at 4:08 pm
To the asshole who sent in spoilers calling this match ‘terrible’: What effin match were you watching? This was the best match on SD since Victoria left. The SD girls totally blew Raw’s match out of the water. I love Mickie and Maryse but they better step it up, because SD is the place for Divas right now.
May 15, 2009 at 4:24 pm
haahh the catfight between layla and eve was awesome! “imma get you, imma get you!” lol
May 15, 2009 at 4:33 pm
All I have to say is wow. This match was amazing. I agree that Raw’s tag team match couldnt hold a candle to what smackdown had. And did any one see how melina seemed to be happy she was on smackdown, she had a glow that was terrific. The match it self Just WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW. The Catfight was awsome to. Love Eve torres and Hope this Six divas tag match that melanie suggested happens.
May 15, 2009 at 4:43 pm
Ohhhh Myyyy Godddd! <– Janice moment ;) (all you F.R.I.E.N.D.S fans out there :P )
That match was brill. normally the tag team match’s arn’t worked weel for the Divas as theres always one diva who doesn’t get much ring time if any. Now yeah, Alicia wasn’t in as long but she made her time work well, as Melanie pointed out … Alicia sure knows how to sell her moves.
… and i think it works well as she sells them differently. She looks more .. floppy? would you say. :L
Anyways, i bloody loved the match =P
Raw, step-up your game :)
ECW, Just a womens match would be nice from you :L
Get Tiffany doing some wrestling work =D
And i tooo went ‘Ouch!’ when Gail was pulled from the apron, well timed and sold very well (Y)

“Hopefully they’ll go at it in the ring next week and eventually be integrated into the rest of the women’s division, maybe Gail, Melina & Eve vs Michelle, Alicia and Layla?”
I don’t know. It seems they are trying to seperate Eve and Layla from the rest. If this keeps going on, you could make a case that WWE is trying to avoid having them wrestle.
I think was a bad week for Divas. The Raw match, in retrospect, was only good for Maryse getting some promo time, the Mickie-Maryse angle being furthered, and the good finish that the crowd really liked. The match itself wasn’t great. As for this match, I’m not the least bit interested in a Michelle vs. Melina feud, and this match didn’t change my mind about that. The audio editing of the crowd was jarring, too. They’d be completely dead, react HUGE to something, then be dead again, all in the span of 3-5 seconds. Very weird.
May 15, 2009 at 5:17 pm
ChrisP do you always have to try to make the divas seem like they are worthless. It’s like every time I se a comment by you it’s alwys negative. I know everyone is intitled to their own opinion but damn all the time?
May 15, 2009 at 5:24 pm
ChrisP I dont know what your thinking or talking about this weeks diva matches were the best in a while. Stop being negative Jeez..!!!
Anyway,I thought this match was great they all did good. I woudnt mind seeing this match again next week with Alicia getting a pin fall.Smackdown is in the lead. Raw needs to step in up. I think they should turn another Diva face. Jillian or Beth. Kelly Kelly is tag matches are boring. Mickie needs an expirenced wrestler on her side.Ne way I hope they have a number one’s contender match for the womens title. With Gail Kim winning then it can turn into a triple threat match at the next PPV.
Matter Fact I think Eve vs Layla should have been the Divas Judgement day match…that would have been awesome. At least they aree building up the Eve & Layla fued. Unlike other fueds that need to be built up “Need I say Mickie/Mayrse”
May 15, 2009 at 5:27 pm
I thought the match was great! I loved Melina split kick, looked like a solid kick to Michelle’s head! Ouch!!!!
Laya was Funny!
“Hello, Im not Done! Make me Beautiful! Hello?”
Layla honey, you don’t need to have make-up to look stunning! You already are :P
May 15, 2009 at 5:37 pm
DaWayne, I have said that I’m really looking forward to Mickie-Maryse, and as I stated above, the Raw match did a good job furthering the angle. I just thought the match itself was decent rather than good or great. However, I still love the idea of pairing them together. It wll be good for Maryse and keeps Mickie in a prominent spot like she deserves.
The SD match was okay, too, but, like I said, I’m just not interested in a Melina vs. Michelle feud. It will be hard for me to get into the Smackdown stuff since McCool will be dominating the title picture since it’s just her, Alicia, and Layla as the SD heels. I’m just very bored and uninterested with her, even when she’s working with Divas I really like (like Melina).
May 15, 2009 at 5:39 pm
Well Put Chris
May 15, 2009 at 6:10 pm
i am loving these smackdown Divas they Kicking the Raw divas ass for sure in matches and storylines
Go Team Smackdown
May 15, 2009 at 6:35 pm
Loved this match!!! Some great work from all four involved. Melina has definitely come back with something to prove, she was flawless. Michelle and Gail continued to impress, I really agree they share great chemistry. Alicia did well and loved the bump she took against the barricade, Gails fall to the outside was great. Smackdown shines yet again and proves they are the better brand and Raw NEED to step up.
On another note, did anyone notice before the match they showed both Gail and Michelles wins on replay. Might be just me hoping, but I think its a sign they are going with the triple threat angle. Fingers crossed!!!
May 15, 2009 at 6:57 pm
‘Alicia is sent through the ropes by Gail (Kelly and Jillian take note)’ Lol, you are so right. I thought it was AWFUL when Kelly ‘sent’ Jillian through the ropes!
Loved this match! And the catfight, too funny :)
May 15, 2009 at 7:17 pm
I forgot to mention this, and it’s part of why I don’t see this big gap between Raw and SD among the Divas. Here’s how WWE’s bookers built up both of the women’s title feuds in the same week.
Raw: 2-on-2 tag match lasting about 4 minutes; the champ and her #1 challenger finish the match with a clean pinfall
SD: 2-on-2 tag match lasting around 4 minutes; the champ and her #1 challenger finish the match with a clean pinfall
How creative. No excuse for that happening on shows that happened within 4 days of each other in TV time and 1 day of each other in real time. It’s too bad WWE doesn’t care more about these women who have been busting their asses.
May 15, 2009 at 7:26 pm
Litaker61 – I agree, in fact I forgot to mention this in the actual Redux. The replays before the match suggest that Gail and Michelle are on equal footing for a title opportunity at Melina and that they could go the triple threat route rather than Michelle-Melina. They conveniently forgot to mention that Michelle scored two consecutive pinfall victories over Gail (one on Superstars and one on SmackDown last week) and rather opted to show that they each have a singles win over each other. I wouldn’t be surprised to see a triple-threat feud rather than a singles feud. Good news for Gail and for fans like us who love her!
May 15, 2009 at 9:38 pm
A little note to Eve: Crack is Whack.
May 15, 2009 at 9:59 pm
yall know what, the smackdown divas is not playin! They said WE WILL NOT..WILL NOT be shut out by the ladies of RAW. You’ve got Melina and Gail givin us ring work with a bam! Shit cause thats the way i like my matches, i so full with enjoyment..But were not done folks you got Miss Alicia Fox walking and working in the Spirit of Diana Ross ..What.. i know thats right give kids diva and see if they can handle, props to her!
Now eve and layla was nice little cap to the night, and i’m lovin Layla gettin all worked up talkin bout “i’mma get you” lol, i said well go on get the girrrl lol i can’t wait to see their match, nice to see a change in pace and actual build to feud with someone deserving as Layla so understated!
May 15, 2009 at 11:11 pm
the tag match was great
i think thats the best tag match ive seen in awhile wow.
all 4 Divas were awesome.
it was great to finally see Melina return
she was absolutely flawless in this match.
Gail and Michelle impress me more every week
and Alicia is getting better and better
i really wanna see a Triple Threat.
as for the catfite it was pretty funny
hopefully they finally get a match next week
oh and Eve crack kills lol
jp
May 16, 2009 at 12:21 am
I am loving the eve/Layla build. the smackdown writers are actually trying to build up these storyline s and diva feuds It’s really refreshing to see and I can’t wait. :)
May 16, 2009 at 12:22 am
This match was the best Divas tag team match that I have seen in a very long time. Gail is getting back on track, Michelle is still doing her thing, Alicia is improving week in and week out, and Melina bought her A game during the match. I’m surprised that Melina did such an amazing job in the ring though, because although I know how good Melina’s skills are in the ring I kinda’ underestimated her. My thoughts were that this match was going to be just another tag team match that was average, but boy I wrong because this match the complete opposite.
The Layla and Eve backstage confrontation was incredible but that’s no shocker because Layla and Eve have an extremely good chemistry together in my opinion. I only hope that next week the two either fight it out in the wrestling ring or one calls the other one out to the ring for a match. Whichever, I’m hoping that just how these incredibly gifted women sold us the feud, they do an incredibly good job in the wrestling ring.
It is a such that Raw’s Diva feuds can’t even compare to Smackdown’s, but then again I’ve always felt as though it was Smackdown with the more interesting feuds and matches. Eh, I hope that Raw somehow compares to Smackdown, but I’m pretty doubtful… after all, the Santina feud is still holding strong and the Maryse and Mickie feud is probably going to continue on too.
May 16, 2009 at 1:11 am
lmao!
Layla’s yelling is freakin priceless!
hahaha Her hair looked like a makeup blush brush!
I loved both videos.
May 16, 2009 at 1:55 am
“Eh, I hope that Raw somehow compares to Smackdown, but I’m pretty doubtful… after all, the Santina feud is still holding strong and the Maryse and Mickie feud is probably going to continue on too.”
The Maryse-Mickie feud continuing is a bad thing? Why? It’s over a title, involves WWE’s most over Diva and one of the most naturally charismatic heels (female or male) on the roster, it’s being built without stupidity and non-wrestling time waster segments that fans point to when they explain why they don’t like the women’s division, and will lead to matches that could be very good. Even Internet fans who usually don’t like/care about the Divas most of the time have praised this angle’s progression thus far. That’s a bad feud?
May 16, 2009 at 2:36 am
I can’t wait to see what happens on smackdown next week.
My Favorites Layla, Eve, GAil Kim, Michelle McCooll, jeff Hardy, John Morrison, Chris Jericho, Cm Punk
The only reason I watch smackdown :) :]
May 16, 2009 at 2:43 am
ChrisP why must you comment on my opinion and then flip the meaning of the words that I said?
To put words into my mouth is a shame, because it shows me how you were just looking for something to comment on with my opinion. Never did I call the feud between Mickie and Maryse a bad one, never did I call the feud between the two a boring one you simply assumed it and that is all that has to be said.
What I said was that it is a shame that Raw’s Diva feuds can’t even compare to Smackdown’s and that’s an opinion that I am entitled to have. You can praise the feud between Mickie and Maryse because that is your opinion but I’m not as interested in the feud between Mickie and Maryse than the feud between Gail and Michelle. What you did was take a short sample of what I said and completely misinterpreted it. There is no denying that Mickie and Maryse are both incredible athletes wrestling wise, but the feud between the two isn’t as hot as I expected it to be and the feuds on Raw look in MY opinion weak compared to the feuds on Smackdown. And when I say feuds I mean the Diva feuds and that too is an opinion that I am entitled to have. If you disagree than that’s fine, but don’t point out my comments and then flip the meaning around, that’s just pointless.
Putting my entire opinion would be different, but you took a short sample of what I said and completely changed the meaning when the entire point was that in MY opinion Raw has the weakest Diva feuds. What I said had nothing to do with thinking that the feud between Mickie and Maryse was a bad one and I never implied that either.
May 16, 2009 at 2:58 am
Something is definitely happening for McCool soon. For her to be beat fairly in a match must have something in return (maybe she will add being the first ever Women’s and Divas Champ to her list of accomplishments, oh joy). I hardly keep track of Michelle’s record but I have to say I don’t think I remember the last time she was pinned fairly (no roll-up crap) she usually is pinned by being caught off guard or by being distracted — or not pinned at all (usually in tag matches her partner is the one being pinned, for what I remember anyways)
So in that aspect it seems suspicious to me. As for the match I heard a couple of people say it was horrible and after seeing it myself i have to disagree, the match was pretty good considering they are usually not at all great. Melina’s scream were higher this time around, I usually like em but this time they were annoying as hell. For some reason the crowd got behind the noise though lol. Oh and Alicia’s selling is pretty good in my opinion I love how she does her thing.
May 16, 2009 at 3:07 am
“I forgot to mention this, and it’s part of why I don’t see this big gap between Raw and SD among the Divas. Here’s how WWE’s bookers built up both of the women’s title feuds in the same week.
Raw: 2-on-2 tag match lasting about 4 minutes; the champ and her #1 challenger finish the match with a clean pinfall
SD: 2-on-2 tag match lasting around 4 minutes; the champ and her #1 challenger finish the match with a clean pinfall”
I dont think the gap has anything to do with how its booked. In-ring wise Smackdown was much better and in comparison to Raw looked better.
May 16, 2009 at 3:31 am
Yes it was a very good tag match. I think Melina looked sexier because her hair was straightened. Smackdown is definietly the better brand in terms of the divas.
May 16, 2009 at 4:09 am
oH, Oh, Hey, PLUS, Layla screams like a monkey. LOL. No offense.
May 16, 2009 at 5:33 am
DivaFan, out of curiousity, what is your opinion of Mickie-Maryse? In your response, you said I put words into your mouth (me believing you didn’t think their angle was so hot), then said that you didn’t think Maryse vs. Mickie was so hot.
Just to be clear, I personally believe they are too many similarites between Raw and SD to say one show is awesome while the other is crap. I think the title feuds on each show have been booked in decent but equally-uncreative manners, both with pretty good tag matches this week (I did NOT think the SD match was a gift sent from Heaven, though, which may put me in the minority). Also, I think the Santina angle and the Eve-Layla angle are total garbage, wastes of TV time, horrible for the women’s division, and I wish both would end yesterday if not sooner. To me, it basically comes down to which show has the Divas you like better because I believe they have an equal amount of good stuff and an equal amount of crap, match-wise and angle-wise.
May 16, 2009 at 5:56 am
Melina debut was worth all the time in the world. The Women has it all to be a ProWrestler in all aspects. Well balanced talent the she has expressed to all her loyal fans. Melina is gorgous, however, beside of just her looks! The Elite Womens Wrestler moves are way beyond any women wrestler at this time. Her ability to be so flexible is so awesome just to see her matchs. Don’t know what to expect what moves she will be doing! The “Last Call” move is so unbelieveable. That move is a high risk for injury. Melina is on and beyond her time to keep her audience excited. There is alot of women trying to do the same moves but will only be imitators. Mimicing her moves wanting to be her but no way are they close! Melina is the Original Diva and will always be a huge part of history of WWE! Triumph to Melina the Women Champion……….
May 16, 2009 at 6:39 am
I gotta give you props chrisP. To make your point and stick by it like that. Most people would be like ‘sorry. Didn’t mean to offend’. And I totally see your point. Both brands are kinda running parallel at this point. HOWEVER… what made this match better than RAW was the actual in-ring work. All four Smackdown Divas worked well together and the match seemed to flow. On the other hand, Kelly and Jillian dragged the match down and made it look amateur. And the Eve/Layla feud is way better than Santina will ever be. ‘Nuff said.
May 16, 2009 at 6:44 am
Maryse was nothing special in the raw match either. As for Jillian, its Kelly’s fault she appeared bad, Kelly botched the sequence leaving Jillian to pick up the pieces, plus she didnt get any offense in.
May 16, 2009 at 8:08 am
The match was incredible! Everything about it was great. Things would be perfect if this resulted in a triple threat match. I am loving how the draft worked out. These girls put on a wrestling clinic. Michelle McCool has really impressed me latley. Eve and Layla did well, but I don’t know how interested I am in FINALLY seeing a match b/w these two. The backstage catfight was great, and I know I’m pessimistic in this, but I believe a singles match w/ these Diva Search winners will only be lackluster. They’ve improved leaps and bounds, but can they carry each other successfully and really put on a great show? I’m excited in a sense but don’t want to get my hopes up.
In regards to Raw, I really wish Mickie would go back to her psycho roots… wishful thinking, I know.
Also, Melina’s boots suck… please bring back the furry ones! She did, however, look great!
May 16, 2009 at 8:12 am
Thanks, Steven. “Running parallel” is nice way of putting it. I just really don’t see this apparent HUGE difference between the shows. Like I said, some good stuff, some crap on each show.
“And the Eve/Layla feud is way better than Santina will ever be.”
I don’t know if would be possible for it to be worse than the Santina stuff, though. The Eve-Layla angle just seems out of place to me these days. It’s more like something they would have done when Kat and Terri would arm wrestle or whatever, and fans would question what the point of it was besides to put some hot girls on the show.
Plus, I’m getting the feeling that WWE is just trying to avoid having Eve, Layla, and possibly Maria wrestle these days, at least on television. I don’t think Eve has wrestled on TV since her match with Maryse two months ago (unless you count those huge tag team matches where she and most of the other girls never got in the match).
May 16, 2009 at 9:40 am
I thought this was interesting, and it came from a site that’s normally not too keen on Divas:
Divas tag action is next. Alicia Fox & Michelle McCool vs. Gail Kim & Melina. Could we please get a Triple Threat with Melina, McCool and Kim? It could rival the Wrestlemania match with Stratus, Jazz and Lita. Melina pins McCool with her version of the Code Red.
May 16, 2009 at 9:41 am
I said it once and I will say it again. Ever since the draft, Smackdown got the best draft picks. SD has some of the best diva roster in some time. I can’t wait for Candice to return as she could have some good new matches with girls like Alicia & Layla.
Now to the match, it was one of the best matches I have seen. Once again Gail is not afraid to take bumps which makes her just look better. I liked how they made Melina like what they did. Making her much more scrappier then Michelle. I mean Michelle made a mistake when taking down Melina because Melina is the queen of the cat fights. I love Melina doing the split kick. I was actually surprised that Michelle got pinned. With this happing I am seeing a Triple Threat Match with Melina, Gail & Michelle as both Gail & Michelle are even in wins and losses.
May 16, 2009 at 12:48 pm
I chose to wait until SD aired last night in NY to watch the match and backstage segment….without a doubt my patience was rewarded….While i understand chrisP’s point i felt all four women had great chemistry…I wish Alicia Fox got more ring time and a few of the spots could have been sharper, but for a first time pairing i was happy to see Gail and Melina together. Alicia’s selling and mannerisms are spot on. I refuse to call her A. Fox as Vince seems rather insistent on getting this over with the fans….to me it’s just lame…I wonder if Gail’s penchant for taking huge bumps will drive the other Divas to up their game in that aspect?
This new aggressive side of Melina is a welcomed addition to her character, their are quite a few stories that can be told with these four…All in all a win-win: Melina looks strong her return…Gail without doing a promo is elevated somewhat in the eyes of the fans with the partnership…and seen as legit contender…..Michelle is kept strong even with the loss, Alicia shows toughness in taking a back to the barrier and is still something of a dark horse….her heel character is still in the baby stage…it’ll be a while before her heel persona is fully developed.
To us outside the WWE a Triple Threat is a no brainer….Michelle’s strength…Gail’s speed and unorthodox style combined with Melina’s aggressiveness and flexibility not to mention her flair for having an unconventional in ring style herself…..make it happen WWE!
Eve and Layla: Kudos!!!!! that’s how you choreograph a fucking catfight!!!!! it’s about time two Divas got it right, the initial chemistry these two women have shown so far has got me on pins and needles waiting to see them go at it in the ring.
last but not least…Maria…how’s showing off your clothing line to Teddy Long workin’ out for ya?….maybe once Candice comes back she can latch onto her and be her BFF/Clothes Designer.
May 16, 2009 at 1:21 pm
LMAO at Layla sliding into the splits at 1.32!
Excellent CatFight I love that the wwe is using there other divas on the roster in a storyline/feud not just the usual suspects (Mickie, Beth, Melina, Michelle). Layla and Eve are two of my favourite divas and loving this feud they got going on.
Smackdown is phenomally better than Raw since last year. I no longer bother stayin up till 4 in the morning to catch a 2 minute diva match on Raw anymore as they are no where near as entertaining as Smackdown is. I really enjoy some of the action on Raw now and again but its not consistantly good and there is only so much tag team matches i can put up with, Definintely want to see more Divas Single Matches with a variety of Divas.
Can anyone else see Maria leaving the Wwe within the next year?? She’s really bringing nothin to the table as of late and nobody really gives about a fashion range tbh! Poor girl!
May 16, 2009 at 1:47 pm
DivaFan, out of curiousity, what is your opinion of Mickie-Maryse? In your response, you said I put words into your mouth (me believing you didn’t think their angle was so hot), then said that you didn’t think Maryse vs. Mickie was so hot.
I already said it.
There is no denying that Mickie and Maryse are both incredible athletes wrestling wise, but the feud between the two isn’t as hot as I expected it to be and the feuds on Raw look in MY opinion weak compared to the feuds on Smackdown.
ChrisP if you prefer Raw over Smackdown than you are entitled to do so but to constantly poke out people’s comments because they praise Smackdown more than Raw is completely pointless.

I don’t think Eve has wrestled on TV since her match with Maryse two months ago (unless you count those huge tag team matches where she and most of the other girls never got in the match).
You’re entitled to dislike the feud between Layla and Eve but all that you seem to be doing is bashing people’s opinions for liking Smackdown more than Raw.
In MY opinion Smackdown has the better talent. Raw has Kelly, Beth, Maryse, Mickie, Rosa, The Bella Twins, Jillian, and Santina – the only Divas that I can even see the WWE giving airtime seriously are Maryse, Mickie, Santina, Beth, and Kelly which is fine but in my personal opinion we aren’t seeing much other then last year only more boring. I expected for Maryse’s draft to Raw to be a good one, wait, no I didn’t – my opinion was to keep Maryse on Smackdown so that her character could be built more but she’s on Raw now and I’m watching a feud between Mickie and Maryse unravel without much excitement. Both women are incredible athletes, they even share a good chemistry in my opinion, but so far Raw hasn’t impressed me too much. The Mickie and Maryse feud was expected, the Santina feud and Beth has become boring and I question when the feud will end because I’ve grown tired of Santina. I’d love to see Beth vs. Mickie vs. Maryse, but I’m not too interested in watching Mickie vs. Beth. I’ve seen that before and the only new edition to the match is Maryse. Raw has incredible talent, but they aren’t using it correctly so like always Jillian Hall will probably stay a jobber, Kelly might even get a chance for the Divas Championship later on or at least feud with Maryse, and the twins along with Mendes will probably stay shadows since Rosa isn’t much of a seller with her gimmick.
On the other hand Smackdown has Michelle, Melina, Gail, Alicia, Candice, Maria, Layla, and Eve. Eight women that are not going to disappoint. My opinion on the Layla and Eve feud reminds me of the Ashley and Layla feud only better and that feud was a decent one, even though Ashley isn’t what I’d call an incredible athlete or even decent. Anyways, I am glad to see Layla not being in the background like she was on Raw anymore, I’m glad to finally see Eve taking action, and the Melina vs. Michelle match is a dream one, the Michelle vs. Gail vs. Melina is a dream one that I hope will be a pay-per-view match for the championship in the future. I have higher hopes for Smackdown then Raw because Raw has always done the same thing over and over again. Keeping Kelly, Beth, and Mickie on the same brand was a mistake in my opinion because I’ve seen a Mickie and Beth feud already, keeping Kelly on the brand only tags her on to the face side which is where she was before with Mickie. The only new Diva is Maryse since the Twins aren’t going to do much of anything. Smackdown got the better drafts because they got Divas that we’ve never seen on a level like this wrestle before. But that’s just my opinion and I wish not to be bashed for stating my opinion of why I prefer Smackdown over Raw.

God, I’ve been salivating for a Melina-Michelle feud since their original mini-feud, which was cut short because of MNM snapshotting Michelle & sending her down to development (which was a good thing, really). They teased me with it when they had Michelle win the memorial day bikini beach bash battle royal by elminating Melina (the women’s champ at the time) last. Now it looks like they’re going to FINALLY go ahead with it and give us a real feud between the two, with Gail maybe being involved. :D All I can say is: yay!
The match was awesome, I can’t really fault anything they did tbh. Much better than RAW’s offerings this week. Layla and Eve continue to amuse me.

How big does Alicia want her hair?

ChrisP it seems to me you comment on anyone who cheers for Eve/Layla for the good job there doing so far. Smack down has everything raw doesn’t such as Decent Story lines, They expanded there minds and decided to use the divas they haven’t used yet. I personally haven’t seen the smack down divas stronger then they are currently.
However on a side note I am rooting for Gail Kim to be the next woman’s champion :)

It’s nice to see WWE putting a little faith into the divas division. Now Raw & ECW need to have the same backing.

It seems like Smackdown is trying to split the wrestlers from the models/diva searchers. On the one hand, theres Melina, Michelle, Gail, Alicia, and probably Candice if she comes back, then Maria, Layla & Eve who’ll probably be involved more in backstage stuff.

On some of the comments they have discussed needing to have more air time on TV! Sometimes they need more experience on wrestling. They haven’t reached the potential as a Prowrestler they are still models. Not taking women wrestling seriously as a career. These women are more into their looks and who wears the least clothing. Attracting the fans all for the wrong reasons on WWE. Which there is nothing wrong if there choice is to be explict model training for an adult magazine.Their history for WWE will always be only as a model mimicing to be an wrestler, but have no potential. Melina is the DIVA that has had the most TV air time since she was on Smackdown as the manager of MNM. Through out these years WWE has given her TV air time due to her extreme potential. The only time she hasn’t been is this year she won the Championship. Melina has proven her potential since she debuted on WWE several years ago. Melina is a serious role for the new comer’s women wrestler’s.They need to decide more time in training to be the best. Their moves need to look so realistic not so artificial! Then WWE will give whom ever that has wrestling potential more TV air time! My opinion is Melina goes through alot of hard knocks to achive the realistic moves! I don’t like to point to a specific women that is not suceeding in matches. But i’m going to say these anyway Maria is so artificial running up and down all around as if she is on a horse. She is an example of some one who needs more training to be a women wrestler.

Well as most people have already commented, Smackdown’s women’s division have definitely outshone Raw’s on all levels lately. It just goes to show what actually putting time and effort into building a storyline for the Divas will do. Especially in the case of Eve and Layla. I’ve always thought Layla was pure untapped talent, and now that Smackdown’s using her she’s showing it. This feud with Eve? They’ve definitely got the chemistry that makes it so interesting.
Now the tag team match? Holy crap! This match was hands down the most amazing match I have seen in the Diva’s division in so long! It’s like these women fed off each other’s energy and produced a mind-boggling match!! Gail Kim and Melina are brilliant wrestlers with innovative styles that perfectly complimented each other. It also really showcased Michelle’s own talent and it was like she pushed that much more to bring out her A-game. Alicia’s part in the match, however small, showed real talent there as well.
All the women were great but the stand out star for me there was definitely Gail Kim.
