Breaking: Victoria Takes the Gloves Off on Benoit Claims & WWE

Yesterday, a really despicable story made it’s way online that we chose to steer clear from, that Lisa Marie Varon aka Victoria aka Tara was the ‘mistress’ of Chris Benoit at the time of his murder-suicide two years ago, this month. That story was enough to send the usually dignified new Knockout over the edge, as can be expected.

The claims in that story are incredibly damaging to not only Lisa, but to Benoit’s family who are probably already in so much pain two years after the fact. Lisa takes off the gloves in her public response to the claims in a new MySpace blog. Interestingly, she happens to think her former employer – WWE – may have had a hand in the situation:

I try not to respond to rumors. It’s a lose-lose situation. If you don’t respond, it seems like you may be avoiding the rumor because it is true. If you deny it, you are bringing more attention to a lie. Well, in this case I’m gonna respond. A MySpace friend emailed me yesterday to let me know that a wrestling gossip website is claiming that they have an anonymous source or sources that say I was Chris Benoit’s secret mistress at the time of his murder-suicide. First let me say, this is absolutely false. I invite the “reporter” from that website to come to my home city, and I will submit myself to a polygraph. If this website is at all concerned with the truth, they should jump at the opportunity. But frankly, I think they are just concerned about sensational headlines, and couldn’t care less about the facts behind it.

And the timing sure is conspicuous.Years after the event, but hours before my TNA wrestling debut. Could it be that a certain wrestling organization is concerned about what kind of impact that I will make in TNA? And what kind of coward would make such a powerful claim, and hide in the shadows of anonymity. Come forward. Legitimize your claim.

I have made every effort to move on and take the high road. The worst thing that I have said is that I wanted a different role. Believe me, in nine years with that organization, I have been aware of behavior so deviant that it would shock the devil himself. But as the old saying goes, the only thing certain about a mudslinging contest is that everyone gets dirty.

And finally, let me say this. To spread a lie like this hurts the survivors of a tragedy that already have gone through immeasurable suffering. Although it doesn’t excuse his behavior, studies on Chris Benoit’s brain after his death showed severe damage from years of wrestling-related injuries. That, mixed with mood and hormone altering drugs led to a horrible outcome. Before that, as we all have heard, he was very dedicated to his family. Don’t drag these victims and their families through vicious lies for the sake of attempting to take the wind out of my sails.

Again, I think the website that first posted this should feel obligated to come out here and polygraph me. Stand by your story.

But in the end, all you’ve done is hurt some innocent people with lies, and frankly, pissed me off, and motivated me to make TNA as good a product as I can.

We all know Lisa is an incredible performer but I think we’ve seen an incredible test of strength from this classy lady over the past couple of months, as she’s battled a lot of criticism in joining TNA and leaving WWE in her past. This most recent claim is not just insult to injury, I just don’t think the implications of such a rumour can be magnified in words.

If WWE or an associate of WWE really did have a hand in this, I think that just goes to show that there really are the lowest of lifeforms in any walk of life and in any career field, people who would stop at anything to fuck things up for others — even if it means hurting the already grieving family and friends of the deceased.

I did see the original report but like I say, we purposefully stayed away from reporting it. In the original report, a former Superstar is mentioned as corroborating the story. The story said something like ‘a recently released star with two K’s in his name’. I don’t know how true that is, but if it is, what a jerk-off.

All I can say is, I admire Lisa’s tenacity and her strength.

I <3 Lisa but I don’t believe anyone in this situation. Her or the story. The story could be full of so much shit, but the story could be true. She could be telling the truth or she could be lying and trying to cover herself. We (fans) put so much faith in these people, believing that if they say, it’s the truth, it’s the truth but for all we know, she could be trying to cover her tracks. Granted, the timing is shotty but that doesn’t mean it’s not true.

I don’t want to think about Lisa and Chris. I don’t want to think about WWE spreading lies. I want people to leave the remaining members of the Benoit family alone and just shut the fuck up. It’s been two years, fucking drop it.

I’d usually agree with you but to me, Lisa is one of the few people in this industry that I would ‘trust’. Just the way she’s always carried herself and continues to do so, she’s a consummate professional & I don’t think she’s one to bullshit. But you never really know a person and we’ll ever know the truth [nor are we entitled to]. It’s up to us as individuals to make up our own minds & I’m sure there’ll be a split vote among our readers.

Victoria is an amazing person and always handles such bullshit with grace and dignity and maturity, whereas other divas would resort to name-calling and the over-use of exclamation points. Even though it means nothing to her, lol, I will always stand behind her, 100%, in anything she does.

I didn’t believe the story one bit. This story was brought up on the day of her TNA in-ring debut?! Seriously…how desperate and pathetic of whoever (or whomever) brought this “story” to life anyway. I classify Lisa as not just a great wrestler, but an amazing person. Like my fave Trish, Lisa has (and will always have) my respect. :)

Hmm. Unless there is definite proof, I think she should be trusted here. However, is anyone getting the vibe that her exit from WWE was on much worse terms than it initally seemed? Implying that WWE may have had something to do with this? “Deviant” behavior? Now, I’m wondering why she didn’t leave WWE sooner and why/how did she came back for that one-off WrestleMania appearance.

As far as WWE possibly having something to do with it, I don’t know. I really don’t think WWE cares about her, TNA, or what she’ll accomplish in TNA enough to do that. Plus, WWE doing something that would put Benoit’s name out there MORE? They’ve been acting like he never existed.

after the blog from her yesterday about how the wwe would probably be happy for her, she comes out with this? i dont know whats up with that, but i sinceraly doubt wwe would ever do something like that, cause like chrisP said, wwe wants nothing to do with beniot, and there is no doubt in my mind that they would not care enough about her making her debut to come up with something like that

When I read the story, it just sounded like shit. Victoria has too much class and dignity to even do something like that. She is too much of a professional for that. I stand behind her 100 percent. Whomever reported the story obviously didn’t care to validate it, they just wanted to post a story. I like how Victoria took the high road and didn’t resort to name calling and pointing fingers in her response, and I highly doubt that WWE would start a story of this nature especially with Chris Benoit’s name in it. They’ve done everything to practically eradicate his existence in WWE since finding out the truth of his death. Lisa Marie, Tara, Victoria, whatever you want to call her is simply amazing!

No way is it true, Victoria is no where near that kind of person.

    Love you too Melanie! lol

I just cannot stand the idea of anybody ever trying to drag Victoria’s name through the mud. She dressed up like a freakin’ banana and a sumo wrestler for God’s sake! She jobbed out for younger talent, she was a team player and then WWE goes and erases her Alumni page for trying to do something better with her career… yuck. That’s all I got, yuck.

Victoria is so admirable for handling these things the way she does. If about 90% of the other Divas were in her situation, they would be completely blasting the WWE. She carries herself with such dignity, and that is hard to find.

What kind of immature douche bag of a person would try to do this to Victoria on the day of TNA debut? God, some people can just be so stupid, trying to drag Victoria down. But honestly, major props go to Victoria for handling this with class and dignity, that’s a skill Victoria really has. Most other divas would pull a Maria and twitter about it. Just the way that Victoria can handle these things really makes her role model to me, she’s a really good person. So to the person who started this rumor, stop spreading shit and get a life. I’ll always be on the side of Victoria, no matter what surfaces, she really seems like someone that you could trust no matter what.

noone knows wat victoria is like behind close doors so all these ppl saying shes too nice and such to do tht, well you dnt know nobody does. even if it was true, victoria cld jst say its lies, not to cover her tracks bt to jst leave it,. even if it is true, wat good wld it do to admit it?

however i neither believe nor call bullshit at the story, i dnt have an opinion on it becos it dsnt concern me. it is the private lives of two performers who none of us know personally so cannot say “they wldnt do something like that!”

so watever, whats done is done (or wasnt as may be the case)
