Our story on Maria yesterday has caught the attention of the Diva herself and this morning as I checked my e-mails as I do every morning, quite a few people brought her reaction to our attention. On her Twitter page, Maria responds to Diva Dirt as ‘haters’ and having ‘insulted her’. She writes:
[In response to the story] hahahaha!!!! If it is true who cares. But the honest truth is that people are just angry!! I love my job!! Haters hate.
If websites and forums want to insult me get your facts straight!! Love me hate me this is my passion!! And I am not afraid of the future!!
Looking back at the story I wrote yesterday, I feel my judgement in that post was extremely fair. I do admit, I am not Maria’s biggest fan but the post we posted yesterday simply relayed knowledge from someone we trust & is in a position to know, while adding our own thoughts and opinions – as is the daily routine here at Diva Dirt.
While I personally may not be a Maria fan [and I speak of her as a performer, not a person] I definitely gave her the benefit of the doubt, calling attention to other roles she could perform in WWE, if not in a wrestling capacity and put over the fact that she is one of WWE’s most popular women.
Interestingly enough, Maria doesn’t necessarily deny the story to be false, “If it is true who cares.” Though she later says, “Get your facts straight” and trust me, we wouldn’t make a post if we didn’t have the facts. We may not be a respected ‘news source’, but as a Journalism student, I have managed to hone my skills enough to edit content at this site and use appropriate sources for my material.
I don’t believe at all, Diva Dirt has ‘insulted’ Maria in any way. If anything, I was, always have been and will always continue to be, brutally honest. I don’t want to add more fuel to the fire but I hope if she’s reading, Maria will realise that perhaps she’s being a little over-sensitive. And to reiterate, I have no vendetta against Maria personally, I simply don’t find entertainment value in her entertaining.

i have found you to be very cynical and critical of a lot of divas tbh. you seem completely biased in my opinion.
I feel that if you dont like the diva, you shouldnt write about her, leave it to someone else on Diva Dirt who wont biased. I understand journalists do speak their mind and all tht, bt i also feel you should drop the bad attitude when it comes to some divas/knockouts. im naming any particular divas/knockouts bt you are completely biased. and the whole diva dirt hasnt insulted her in anyway? you all take shots every chance you get? i joined hping it was a group of ppl who respected the divas and enjoyed watching them, yes with th odd criticsm bt really? shot after shot week after week? why dont you get in there? show us how well you do? cos i do, and its not easy. its tough gruelling, physical torture. just at least have respect for a girl who is paid to entertain us, and tho she may not entertain you she certainly entertains others!
i quite frankly cringe everytime i see michelle, BUT she has grasped wrestling better than all the diva search girls, she is tremendous athlete and has worked hard. see thats me being respectful

Here’s how I see it. Melanie is a straight shooter. She obviously says how she feels but as a reporter tries not to be bias about it. I personally believe she has done a good job at that. Though Melanie doesn’t like a nice amount of divas, she never crosses the line and always tries to pay some kind of positive comment. I think she’s fair and fans and apparently Maria are being over-sensitive. The way she sounds, she’s making Diva Dirt (Melanie, mostly) to be the bad guys in the situation, when there are none. It was an article, it might not of pleased her but, she should get over it.
If a Diva makes a mistake, she performs bad, it’s Melanie, Erin, Steven’s or whoever else’s job to point that out and if humor is the way to go. They go there. They’ve taken shot at divas I like and as a fan, I have no problem with it, because it’s their opinion, their right and sometimes I agree. People on the internet need to lighten up.

Meagagary, please tell me, how is diva dirt being “disrespectful”.I don’t hate Maria, in fact, I think she’s gotten way better in the ring recently from what we’ve seen, but seriously, in the past, if you can recall, she botched a lot of moves in matches, AND when she made her comeback to “attack” Michelle, she was flailing everywhere and spazzing out instead of, oh…I don’t know, giving her a few forearms?!Also, diva dirt NEVER claimed to be a news site, they have stated multiple times that they are a blog, and quite opinionated, so if you don’t like it, stop reading the site.Yes they have taken some cheap shots at Maria, but that was their opinion.If they don’t like something one of the divas is wearing, they’ll tell us, so deal with it.Plus, they usually only do that to not only state their opinion, but to give us readers a little laugh now and then.My piece of advice to you is to get over it, or get off the site.

I think everyone has there own opinion. I am bar far a HUGE maria fan,But I can’t tell anyone what to write or who to like it just doesn’t work like that.
however, if you don’t like the comments on Diva Dirt don’t read it or visit the site. It really doesn’t bother me that a few people doesn’t like maria, she has TONS of fans who support including myself. So I don’t think plp should be so worked up about it.

Women wrestling is a joke, except for TNA and SHIMMER. It sounds like someone is jealous that Maria is worshiped like a Goddess every second of her life, despite only having to be on camera once a week. And you are here ranting, raving and eating ice cream.
If you ask me, you are the biggest joke. You refuse to give TNA credit for their womens division until Victoria comes back but at least they have real wrestlers. Stop polesmoking the WWE and bitching at Maria for having something they all do.

Personally, when I visit this site I come to read people’s opinions on womens wrestling and to be entertained. If I want unbiased news reports I will go elsewhere. Its unfair to hate on Melanie because she has every right to express her opinion.
Having said that, I like Maria and her past few matches have been quite solid, but I think the best way to respond to critics is by proving them wrong in the ring, rather than tweet about them.

Honestly, I didn’t see anything disrespectful about the previous post on Maria. She is not a good in-ring performer and would be much better suited for a diferent role that would capatilize on her popularity without having her wrestle. It seems that the WWE is realizing this as well.
I Maria really wants people to believe that wrestling is her “passion,” than she needs to start making a commitment to improve her ring work. Being pretty has gotten her as far as it is going to.

That’s it. Mickie is the female Jeff Hardy botching moves all over the place and the others are bad workers. Its all about character/ring pysch, which WWE doesn’t develop due to their love for eye candy.

Well, first of all, I understand Maria’s point of view, she’s working hard (I hope) to try to entertain everyone and yet she seems to be “disrespected” by most people who are actually into WWE women’s divison, so I have to admit, in here place, Id probably feel the same way. Well, but since I ain’t Maria (thank gods) I have to say, in my humble opinion, Melanie didn’t disrespect Miss Kanellis, she just pointed out that Maria is slowly being removed from SmackDown as a wrestler. As people should know, I’m definitely not a Maria fan thus making me smile everytime I read a Melanie’s post.
On the other hand, I’m a big Rosa Mendes fan and I don’t get bitchy when I see that Melanie posted a comment saying that she couldn’t wrestle and had no personality, I don’t agree with it, but I accept Melanie’s point of view and I’m also capable of UNDERSTANDING her point of view. Same happened with Lena Yada, I loved her (don’t ask why…) and DivaDirt’s comments on her didn’t affect me at all, I found some really funny and I’m sure that if Lena saw a post or two she would find it kind of funny.
@ Megagary, as a fellow YouTuber and admirer ;D, I understand your point of view, but you should see that Melanie didn’t comment anything about Maria’s passion or hard work, she just said what’s true, Maria DOES look spastic in the ring and Maria SHOULD give wrestling a rest and train at FCW or quit it and become a full-time backstage interviewer.

If you visit this site, you know what you’re getting yourself into when you enter that URL, so don’t come and bitch at me when the going gets hot. Stop visiting. This isn’t a news site, it never has been and never will be. Of course, I’m going to be biased, blogs are about having opinions. Honestly guys, there’s only so many times I can sing this song. Fact is, YOU’RE the ones that enter the URL and load this site and spend the time to read it. If you don’t like it, you’re wasting your own time.
And ‘torriewilson’, how have I never given TNA credit? I don’t write about it because I don’t follow the product. It doesn’t mean I don’t give them credit. I don’t have all the time in the world to watch every single wrestling product out there. If something interests me, like Victoria joining the company, I will watch and try to follow it more.
I fully appreciate that it takes a lot to work it out in that ring, but it’s all in the sake of entertainment and the viewer ultimately decides if they are entertained or not.

Torriewilson what your saying makes no sense your saying Beth & Gail Kim r the only true women wrestlers. I am a big Fan of Beth and Gail but there are far more true women wrestlers. Katie Lea,Natalya,Melina,Mickie,Jillian,Gail Kim,Beth Phoenix thats it nobody else.So I dont know why you felt that you should point out that Beth & Gail r the only true wrestlers.
And Mickie James isnt a female version of jeff hardy. Can I just say something??
First I LOVE Melanie and Erin and everyone else who makes this site what it is. I come to this site everyday because it’s entertaining and always updated (you should be grateful for that).
Secondly, on any site someone will ALYWAYS bash someone you like. Sure I’ll hate the comment if it’s about someone I like but I just shrug it off five seconds later.
And finally, WAKE UP! There are worse problems out there in the world then someone bashing your favorite diva or someone like Melanie who just gives her honest oppinion.
It’s not a big deal. Just shrug it off.
But of course there will always be someone who just has to start a fight so I know me saying this won’t make that much of an effect.

I’ve been visiting this site for a year now, and honestly to the user here saying Melanie, Erin, Steven, and everyone else involved w/ diva dirt is being unfair and biased you really need to get the point that this is a BLOG, not Fox News. OK, now that I have the straightened out, you ppl need to understand that these are Melanie’s opinions, and she can say whatever she wants about Maria or in that case and other woman wrestler. It’s their blog, and if you have a problem with it you should really just leave. In my perspective, Diva-Dirt is the greatest womens wrestling blog on the planet, they’re funny, witty, and they can really prove a point. And that’s exactly what they’re doing right now, proving a point and being funny and witty about it at the same time. So please, don’t call them haters, they’re just entertaining us womens wrestling fans. So once again, if you think Diva-Dirt is biased, mean, or stupid, please just leave now. You’re a nuisance to everyone who runs this site and everyone who looks at this site.
Now my opinion on Maria is that she really doesn’t even belong in the WWE. She’s bad at promos, she can’t wrestler, and she’s 100% eye candy. When she “wrestles” it just comes out as being spastic and sloppy. Maria has really never had a match w/ out botching a couple of moves. Also with wrestling, Maria just can’t talk. Promos, interviews, anything else too! She really always comes off as bland and boring. Overall, she’s just generic, nothing really special going on with Maria. She has no pop or spark in her that makes her an individual diva with a unique gimmick and personality, and without that theirs no point to even bother with Maria. I’m not tryong to be mean at all, it’s the truth.

You know, I think instead of bashing this site, fans of women’s wrestling should actually be grateful that there is a platform here to support the divas. Obviously, this whole Maria thing has sparked a heated debate, but it just goes to show that there a lot of passionate diva fans on here that just really want the best for the women’s division. They WANT to see Maria succeed.
Considering most wrestling websites and forums on the net often refer to diva segments and matches as “piss breaks” and a “waste of time” and have conditioned themselves to think that womens wrestling is a joke, it is great to see a place where the division can get the attention it deserves.
For this reason, I think the women’s wrestling community should be embracing sites like Diva Dirt instead of complaining about them.

Maria needs to kind of grow up and realize that not everyone in the world can like you. She needs to work a lot harder than she has, or is, to improve in the ring and I really hope she does. She has a lot of charisma and a good look (when she isn’t overdoing herself with accessories), but she sucks in the ring. Some people are made for wrestling, and some people aren’t. She obviously has her strengths, and she has her weakness of not being great in the ring, for whatever reason. IMO, WWE should keep her to her strengths until she can support her weaknesses better.
That being said, I saw nothing offensive in Melanie’s previous blog, nor this one. In fact, they were quite complimentary. If it were me writing the blogs, I’m not sure I could have been so kind, haha.

first of all i think everyone should back the eff up, Melanie can write what she want about the diva’s as long as it’s her opinion, some people will agree and some wont’, as she said its your own choice to visit this site,
i think maria is verry immature to give a respond like that, how old is she? she cares more

ok first of all let me jst apoligise to Melanie, my first comment came off a bit wrong. i was jst stating my opinion and seeing marias side. did not mean to annoy anyone (tho it shld really only be melanie directing insults and whatnot at me, sure she can handle herself) bt yes i do apologise to melanie.

I know we just ended this whole thing, but I just got off work and was thrown by this post. I completely agreed with Melanie’s article. I do believe Maria’s most recent matches on TV have been her best, but the girl is still not up to par in the ring w/ some of our other divas. I find it hysterical that Maria even acknowledged the article in the first place. At least ppl are reading though, right?

i did try to, i stated my opinion, i then saw my mistake after everyone else played cop. i then apologised to melanie to has ignored me twice, she even ignored my original statement, which says to me she isnt really bothered. shes not going to let someone elses opinions stop her and i respect tht, i also respect tht she has let me state my opinion without saying “get off the site” like everyone else has.

Mickie has botched in her previous tag match, When she took Beth out of the ring.
And of course I’m not saying she is a bad wrestler… She is just rusty probably because she hasn’t been used in forever.
Kelly is the next big thing, She is getting good.. But she has been botching an awful lot.
Mickie James kills me tho, She is a retard… i’m sick of seeing Mickie James champ, She is the most boring champ.. she stays it for 2 years straight.

She might gets a re-match tomorrow… because her and maryse fought at a house show.. and kelly won by landing a DDT on Maryse.. So, They said this could be a re-cap of what is gonna happen on Monday night raw if she gets a re-match, which i hope she does.. and beats the living crap ut of maryse.
