Ladies and gentlemen, Diva Dirt has crowned it’s first ever Female Grand Slam Champion in Michelle McCool. Michelle defeated Melina to become the new Women’s Champion moments ago at The Bash in an incredible match, if I do say so myself.
I know this will be an unpopular outcome for many, but I urge you to be mature in your McHating in the comments. Immature comments will get you banned.

ugh, well I know she deserved it, I just don’t like that she’s the first one with both titles. Shoot, she’ll probably leave WWE, join TNA later and become the first triple champ. lol
I missed the match, but apparently it’s really good and I can’t wait to watch it. I just hate how they made michelle out to be an unstoppable force, as a face she was unstoppable, and more so as a heel. They made her so strong that it’s just not convincing for anyone to beat her fair and square, nor does that happen much at all. She’s been dominating gail every chance, and now for the last few shows has been dominating Melina. There’s no more baby face divas to challenge her anymore.

Well, it was sad to see hear the crowd not react to something that is kind of a big deal, but it was to be expected because, as I said eariler, Michelle was the only one really being built to this. I’m kind of surprised that it happened before Mickie or Beth even had a Divas title shot, though.
And in a interesting trivia note, with Melina and the Colons losing tonight, Maryse is now, by a huge margin, the longest reigning champion in the whole company right now. All of the other title reigns right now are, at most, a month old.

I’ll be honest, I wanted Melina to retain, but I’m not going to throw a fit about it. I also am not really a fan of how they make Michelle out to be this huge unstoppable force, but I will say that this is something new and different, and I am interested to see where this goes. I wonder if the Michelle/Melina feud will continue, or if Gail Kim will come in to the picture?
No one answered my question in the live blog (then again, there were so many posts being made that I might have missed it), so I’ll ask it again. Did anyone care about Michelle winning? Last year, she won to absolute silence. There was no reaction whatsoever, and it was a really sad sight. If the same thing happened this year, then I don’t understand why she won. WWE has been pushing Michelle non-stop, yet she doesn’t get over. There’s no reason to give her such a huge push when she can’t get over no matter what WWE does. Ring wise she deserves it, but she should be over by now, and she’s not.
Maryse is the longest reigning Divas Champion and even though i’m a Maryse-Freak i want to see a new Divas Champ crowned at Night Of Champions.
I’m that happy that Michelle won but we did get one-hell-of-a-match out of this.
Melina will hopefully get a title shot at NOC, but not so sure that they’ll give the title back to her so soon.

It just does nothing frankly. Theres no one whos eiter a face or a heel thats been pushed other than these two, with the execption of greeners Eve and Alicia.

TaylorJade, Gail might come into the picture, but I really don’t see how. I looked up the recent SD results, and her record hasn’t been very good.
In May, she wasn’t on the 5/1 Smackdown, lost to Michelle on 5/8, won a tag match when Melina scored the pin on 5/15, lost to Michelle again on 5/22, then didn’t appear on the 5/29 show.
This month, she lost a tag match when Melina was pinned on 6/5, didn’t appear on the 6/12 and 6/19 shows, and lost to Michelle again in a tag match this past Friday.
I think WWE would be doing more with her if they wanted to push her.

@ Christi84. No one cared again? Was there at least some small reaction, or was it absolute silence like last year? I think WWE could built Gail up nicely if they chose to, which involves mic time, but they never do that, so I’m expecting random matches (after the Melina fued is over) with Gail becoming the new number on contender.
i’m happy for michelle, she deserves it 100%, she’s one of the best divas right now.

Honestly, I am not happy at all. I’m not a Michelle McCool fan, not by a long shot, though she has impressed me with her wrestling ability. I just do not like her with a title, imo, she’s a worthless champion. Michelle, will do exactly what they had Melina do and that’s carry the belt with very little title matches. Imo, that’s worthless. Now, if they make Michelle a fighting champion or have her, have problems with Teddy, so he keeps making her defend the title, that will make it worth while.
As for Michelle being the first, not happy about it. I honestly do not believe she deserved it. Not by a long shot. But, what’s done is done and hopefully, they can find a way to make Smackdown interesting. Pushing Gail would be the best decision.

I’m pretty happy for Michelle McCool.
I’m pretty sure her relationship with Undertaker has plenty to do with her political status. It might. It might not. I for one, don’t care. She definitely has won me over for the consistent ring work she has done and the character growth she’s displayed ( people can say whatever they want. I see some growth at least). I’m a pretty big Mickie James mark, and I would’ve loved for her to win this honor. But let’s get serious. The RAW women’s division at this time, is nothing nice and nothing pretty. Even if Mickie deserves it, the female workers that she’s working with ( the Bellas, Maryse, Kelly Kelly, Rosa Mendes ) have been less than impressive.
So nice work Michelle! She seems focused, super nice and just extremely happy to be there as well as passionate about wrestling. AKA The female John Cena. So I’m glad for her.
I’m not a huge McCool fan… but I’m glad she won. It’s something different and it was a GREAT match. Much better then I expected since the Divas have been lacking in solid matches. Both of the ladies showed great wrestling ability. As for Michelle being the 1st diva to hold both the titles… well that’s a different story for a different time. McHaters hate that fact… McLovers love that fact. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions… some make more childish remarks, which is not necessary, but this night goes out to all the McMarks out there.

The crowd was dead for the Divas match, but I can’t honestly say they were dead for the whole show. They were pretty hot for some of the other matches.
chrisP: I worded that incorrectly. The noise was there for certain parts of certain matches. I definately heard noises w/ the bigger moves delivered. I’d take that if it was RAW/SD/ECW. This was a PPV. You’d think the crowd would be more excited.
Okay, Tracy. Off the top of my head, I do recall that they were dead for the women’s match and were going nuts for the Jericho-Mysterio bout (and rightfully so; it was an awesome match).
I was surprised Michelle won. It’ wasn’t a clean win given that Alicia helped out. But what do you expect of heels? This was a really good match. Both of them seemed to hit their moves extremely well. Melina sold everthing she was hit with. Michelle for her part focused on pulling a Randy Orton and did her best to break Melina’s leg. This may actually work out better in the long run for a storyline. Melina is the top face of the Smackdown womens division. Michelle won because of her partner helping her. Anyone see a theme here? It’s called TNA the Beautiful People. Michelle and Alica are the WWE version of that group. Now you have Melina and whoeve she brings with her, Gail Kim? chasing an arrogant heel who stole a title by cheating. Classic storyline but it’s one that works especially leading up to Summerslam. Now if only the WWE would be so kind as to take the divas’s champion off Maryse and put it on Mickie so we can get decent match up at Night of Champions.

I think people should get some things straight. Both sides fight on this issue without really excepting some pretty clear facts.
1) Yes Michelle has her relationship with Undertaker to thank for her status. Of course she does. This is WWE and why wouldn’t she? Its the same reason why friends of the top people get better storylines. Its fake, not pure sport. Otherwise we would have Gail and Shelton Benjamin, probably the best talents in their division reigning. For people to say her relationship gives her no pull need to concede that it does. Michelle managed to stay on the roster for a few years doing absolutely nothing but getting injured/sick. Other people get released for less. If she weren’t dating Taker would she be here? Probably not. Does she have an awful voice? God yes. Please. No. Promos.
AT THE SAME TIME:
2) Michelle has worked hard with what she had (sometimes unjustifiably) handed to her. She worked to become a real wrestler and where, say, The Kat was handed a reign for being the King’s wife, Michelle at least earned hers. Sure she might have had one even if she had the skills of a Maria, but she wasn’t happy with that, and people should admire that she worked hard and strives to get better.
As a non McCool fan, I admire that. I just think both sides have legitimate points and there is an intelligent way to go about voicing your opinion.
I think its great for her she deserves it, she is a true wrestler now with real passion for the business. Plus the division needed a new champ and a breath of fresh air, hopefully Gail feuds with her now!
Yay congratulations Michelle!!, you deserve it & Hopefully this will get you more over with the fans.

just wanted to point out that someone asked who had the shortest womans title reign ever, and its actually mickie, she held it for like an hour when she accidently won it at a houseshow by pinning victoria in a triple threat match about 2 years ago, melina came out later on and rechallenged and rewon the title
Personally, I’m not to Happy with Michelle’s win. I really don’t like Michelle, to be honest. I do think she’s a great wrestler though. I was kind of hoping that Mickie would be the first double champion.
But now that Michelle won, I’m PRAYING Gail gets to face her! A Nice Michelle vs Gail Feud!

Im not a Michelle Fan but I admire her a lot. Congratulations to her! It’s a wrestling buisiness and she is doing her job in an amazing way. She deserved the championship, her in-ring work had blew me away over the last weeks. All I can hope for now is that she is a better Womens Champion thn she was as the Divas Champion.
Im not upset that shes the first Double title holder, I would of liked it to be Mickie but Michelle has proved herself more over the weeks. It’s just questioning now WHEN will Mickie get the Divas Belt Not will she.

not a huge honor seeing as wwe already removed it from their homepage lol im a huge melina fan but she just got beaten up over the past 2 weeks and a fox’s distraction …. i agree with most of u maryse should lose her title soon cuz shes had it since december lol way too long
From the get-go I was hoping Melina would retain just so we could see an interaction with Gail and Melina, but I was completely fine if McCool won and now that she did I don’t see anything bad about it. Yeah so McCool is banging the Undertaker, well supposedly sleeping with the Undertaker gave her some of his wrestling skills because she and Melina rocked that match out.
the problem comparing beth and michelle is that now beth is pretty easily beatable now, and hasn’t been pushed since that santina thing. Michelle hasn’t really had a time when she has met her match and lost a feud, it’s usually just a match in the begining where her opponent gets a suprise roll up, then come the big match, she dominates, like every time. It just gets annoying. I hope this win spices everything up and we get a different turn out for her next feud run. I can’t remember the last time there has been a fatal 4 diva match, or something besides a singles or tag team diva match. So I hope gail is brought into the mix.
Well, i’m done complaining, michelle worked hard and is impressive in the ring, I just don’t like her character and her career. lol
It’s funny that people are so shocked at the apathy that took place during the match. I don’t find it the least bit surprising. I have a theory on this that’s basically a result of me having too much time on my hands as well as having no desire to go outside in the 100-degree weather……
See, Michelle is one of those generic heels that does things without rhyme or reason. They do dickish things in attempts of drawing a random reaction. Does that make for a decent one-off segment? Sure. Does it make someone a star? Hell no. Basically, Michelle is the female equivalent of Randy Orton.
Some of the better, more memorable heels in the business are those who have had that certain x-factor. They have an intangible ability to take their own natural mannerisms and channel them into a CONSISTENT character that, with any feud their in, in any given segment, you can still identify with that character. Some perfect examples are Trish Stratus, Jazz, Melina and Molly Holly. They didn’t do things without rhyme or reason…everything they did was something that came natural to their particular character. Michelle doesn’t have that consistency or ability to just be natural and put her own experiences and personality into her work. She just goes out there and says “Okay…this seems like something that might draw heat.” And she’s been doing that for years now. She doesn’t have a personality of her own that warrants her existence as a top diva. Like Randy, she’s the type of generic heel that’s more suited for those brief, filler feuds, and can serve well as a transitional champ. But a central figure that carries an entire division? Hell no. She’s not interesting enough for that. And just like Randy Orton, we won’t remember Michelle McCool as one of the stronger heels 10 years down the road like we will with Trish, Melina or Jazz. And the fact that Michelle makes me wanna drive a wooden stake into my ears every time she opens her mouth doesn’t help.
Frankly, as hard as Michelle might have worked to get to where she is, we all know good and well she wouldn’t have “made history” tonight or a year ago if not for who she’s sleeping with. She’d be putting divas like Melina and Mickie over. And funny enough, Randy Orton wouldn’t be where he is if he didn’t have friends in high places either. In fact, I doubt he’d even have a job right now.
And it’s also funny that Alicia was more over with the crowd than Michelle. That’s a pretty bad sign…someone who has been around for all of 4 or 5 months is already passing her so-called mentor in popularity. lol
