TNA Webmatch: One Dirty Beatdown

In the mist of jam-packed Knockout action, TNA features ODB and Madison Rayne in a webmatch. As Madison Rayne begins to approach the ring, the first thing that strikes me is her unrecognizable entrance theme. In the very few times that Velvet Sky has wrestled alone, we’ve seen her enter with the Beautiful People’s music. Some fans have expressed some concern that Madison does just doesn’t cut it in Mi Pi Sexy – often even walking 10 paces behind the Beautiful People. Now while I don’t believe that Angelina Love and Velvet Sky deliberately keep Madison at arm’s length, I do feel that the separate music further disassociates her. I was so perturbed by Madison’s desperate grasp at textbook heel tactics that I have personally dubbed her as TNA’s version of Rosa Mendes. Right down to the arrogant lean against the ring ropes – it screams of Rosa. Not to mention Madison’s attempt at stripper-esque moves to compensate for her relative lack of charisma.

You must excuse me for the numerous WWE references, but I feel compelled to mention the tiniest bit of nostalgia I get from watching ODB and Cody Deaner in remembrance of Jamie Noble and Nidia. Granted, I have yet to decide if that’s a good or bad thing.

ODB pulls herself away from her liquid courage long enough to initiate a lock-up with Madison – a basic wrestling manuever despite her attempt to cop a cheap feel at Madison’s behind. However, Madison gets the upperhand early in the match and proceeds to raid developmental Diva territory with the taunting. (For a split second there, I thought the girl was about to break out into the ‘sprinkler.’) ODB soon aims to make quick work of Madison, but Madison doesn’t say die just yet, much to the array of a disgruntled Cody Deaner. ODB continues the assault into the corner before Madison outsmarts her and leads her into a decent but borderline awkward neckbreaker and an unsuccessful cover. Madison then makes her way to the top only to follow up with a front dropkick. The missed opportunity very well costs Madison her initial momentum when ODB hulks up into a couple takedowns and a decisive missile dropkick. Before Madison can save face, ODB catches her in mid-air and delivers a fallaway slam. The onslaught seems neverending until ODB finally squashes a last attempt in the corner by Madison and slams her down for the pin.

Not exactly a candidate for one of the best matches in Knockouts history, this match qualifies for the quality you’d expect from a match nonexclusive to TNA televised programming. I found myself concentrating on trivial matters rather than the actual match. For instance, why the constant wardrobe-fidgeting, Madison? Apparently not adjusted to her newly acquired implants, I found Madison to be a funny contrast to ODB who brazenly embraces hers.

Now as it pertains to wrestling, Madison Rayne still delivers a much better showing against ODB than Velvet Sky did. On commentary, Mike Tenay was even quick to mention that Madison Rayne has seemingly taken a “backseat” to Angelina Love and Velvet Sky. Whether or not Madison has proven that she belongs with the Beautiful People still remains in question. In terms of wrestling skill, I believe she has already surpassed the likes of Velvet Sky. Personality-wise, this Third Musketeer still leaves much to be desired.

uhhh oh no no no miss Madison Rayne you are no Maryse, so if i were you i’d drop that Attitude to the ring entrance real quick..laughable! but anyways i do agree that she wrestlers way better then Velvet and i see she got her self some clip in extensions tryin to step up her game. But she has a long way to go before she’ll stop being the third wheel.

Ok no no no! madison doesnt cut within the beautiful people team. shes not that hot at all & also a big no no, why is trying to be like maryse, sweetie, its not working. also, why with her theme song, shes apart of TBP, she should use TBP’s theme. madison hasnt won a match since her debut, its either she needs to split from TBP or really step up her game. as you can tell, i am not a fan of madison rayne.

“Apparently not adjusted to her newly acquired implants”

I just wanted to point out that ‘Madison’ has had implants for nearly 2 years. So i think she’s adjusted to them.
I think the problem was that TNA have made her dress in something that she wasn’t comfortable wearing. It’s only a bra and it didn’t seem to give enough support.

They need to quit trying to dress her like Velvet Sky and let her be herself. Preferably NOT as a member of TBP because if you’ve seen her in SHIMMER. She’s a much better face.

I do realize that Madison has had her implants for awhile, but I also do figure that being a 23-year-old with 2-year-old boobs has got to have some getting used to. :)

I really think that Madison could have been big if TNA had put her in a babyface role. She plays it to a T in SHIMMER , as xxQOXxx pointed out. The big personalities of Velvet and Angelina kinda overshadows Madison. I would like to see TNA have Velvet and Angelina treat her like a lackey and have her turn on them.

Wow Tiffany “23-year-old with 2-year-old boobs has got to have some getting used to.” thats rude. Madison is just as much apart of The Beautiful People as Velvet Sky is. Madison does not get to pick her entrance theme, its not exactly a free choice. As far as the entrance choreography is concerned, they do a great job. “I was so perturbed by Madison’s desperate grasp at textbook heel tactics that I have personally dubbed her as TNA’s version of Rosa Mendes.” That made no sense at all. How in the world does Rosa’s name come up in that statement. Madison can do any type of taunt and pose she wants….remember shes the one being paid to wrestle for TNA? or did you forget? anywho Anyways Madison did good in the match. Its different seeing her as a heel in TNA vs face in Shimmer. Shes such a great wreslter and im sure shes gonna kick some serious butt with her fast offense in the future.

How was what Tiffany said rude, Adonis? She’s a young girl with relatively new implants. And from what I can see, they’re pretty big. Those take some getting used to. It was a joke. Lighten up. The Rosa comparison was just that – a comparison. THAT’s how her name came up.

“23-year-old with 2-year-old boobs has got to have some getting used to.” – Tiffany

^ how is that not rude? The statement was completely distasteful and unnecessary. Why would I lighten up to tacky comment? Im not going to. Madison is a human like everyone else. Im tired of certain female wrestlers getting bullied.

“The Rosa comparison was just that – a comparison. THAT’s how her name came up.” a comparison with no facts. Don’t mention something unless you are going to give facts to back up your statement.

Oh come on, there has been MUCH worse said on this site and others about Divas/Knockouts. It’s just an observation. Don’t get all politically correct on us just because it happens to be about a wrestler you like.

So, she can’t make a connection to Rosa and Madison’s wrestling abilities or personas? I guess every slight comparison we make on this site has to have clearly-stated facts and references and footnotes. It’s not a research paper, for Christ sake. It’s a blog about a wrestling show. It was an offhand comparison and, honestly, I see where she was going with it.

My point has been clearly stated. I stand by what I said, and am proud of myself for speaking out. Any wrestling fan that reads my comments; with an unbiased opinion will understand and agree with what I said. Im not gonna let a human being get slandered without standing up for them no matter whom it might be.

Adonis-I am also a fan of Madison Rayne, but I see no problem with what Tiffany said. She just means it would take some getting used to. I can imagine if my boobs were suddenly about triple the size that are now it would take me some time to adjust.

“I’m not gonna let a human being get slandered without standing up for them no matter whom it might be”. Wow, that’s pretty dramatic, don’t cha think. I don’t know what’s so ‘slanderous’ about a offhand comment about someone’s oversized ta-tas, but whatever. I’m a big Madison fan and I found the article to be pretty accurate. Anyway, great review Tiffany.

Haahaha. The way that Madison copies something like Maryse way is ridiculous! TNA is horrible that they made the very good wrestler (at SHIMMER) Ashley Lane a LOSER!? WTH? Too many knockouts so they are making too many matches including webmatches. TNA now’s getting down to be leveled by Raw? :| Hmmm..

“The way that Madison copies something like Maryse way is ridiculous!” Madison Rayne the wrestler didn’t copy anything from that bikini model. Madison has more talent in her arm than Maryse has in her whole body. Why would someone who went to wrestling school copy off someone who went to modeling school? she didnt. Madison is a wrestler, Maryse is just faking it.

I’m totally there with the idea of Madison being mistreated by and then turning on TBP, Steven. I’d have them reunite in the end, though. Having her go off and really prove her worth, maybe even forming a bond with one of the face Knockouts and then Angelina and Velvet realizing they need her around and doing what they can to get her back. See if making her out to be more of an essential member of the group helps get her more over with the general audience. That’s just the kind of “bad girl” scenario I like, though – nasty to everyone not in their inner circle, sometimes having their own disastrous fallouts, but in the end having true loyalty to the group.

And it does suck for the moment that she’s so jobberific, given that she has had noteworthy matches outside of TNA. TNA bookers won’t even really let her get in a lot of offense while losing.

Adonis — Please take your over the top dramatics somewhere else. Tiffany didn’t slander anyone, go look up the definition of slander. It’s an opinion. If she had said, “Madison Rayne is a lying bitch” that’s slander. She said nothing of the sort. Just because Madison’s one of your favourites, you’re getting butthurt and being rude.

And the next time you want to email and harass a member of my staff, maybe it’s YOU that should consider anger management lessons.
