We can all agree that, with a few exceptions, Divas get the short end of the stick when comes to entrance themes. While the male superstars get music from actual bands and artists or custom made songs with lyrics, Divas get stuck with crappy production music. If I had the chance I would change all the Divas music to something a little… well, better. Hence, Diva B-Sides was born; a Diva Dirt exclusive where we match WWE Divas and TNA Knockouts with new entrance themes. Today B-Side is for Smackdown’s resident (and I use this term loosely) fashionista, Maria:

PICK #1: “DROP THE GIRL” BY HIT THE LIGHTS
Maria actually happen to be one of the only Divas on the roster to have an actual song for her entrance theme. Unfortunately, that doesnt make it any less annoying.
I was never a fan of Zebrahead (the band that made her theme), so I was cringing long before I heard the entire song. I decided to pick a band that is equally nasally, but half as annoying.
“Drop The Girl” sounds strangely similar to “With Legs Like That”. They both have a punk rock feel that compliments Maria image, or at least the image she’s trying to convey. The best part however, is the subliminal messages not-s0-hidden in there. “Drop the Girl/She’s not worth the time”. Hmm… I’ll leave it at that.
Hear Maria’s B-side and my second pick after the cut:

PICK #2: “WHYYAWANNABRINGMEDOWN” BY KELLY CLARKSON (submitted by Melanie… Kinda)
In my last Diva B-Side, Melanie suggested this song for our current Women’s Champion, Michelle McCool. However, I feel this song is better suited to our flame-haired Diva. It has a spastic energy to it, which is appropriate because ‘spastic’ is one of my top five words to describe Maria. It also has that feminine touch that my first pick is lacking:

So what do you guys think? Do you you want to add these songs to your playlist or are you ready to flip the record. Leave your thoughts and suggestions in the comments. If you have Diva B-Sides of your own e-mail to me at steven@diva-dirt.com with Diva B-Sides in the subject line. Maybe you’ll see your pick in a future post.

I still prefer Whyyawannabringmedown for Michelle, I think starting from the “1, 2, 3, 4…” into the chorus would be a good edit for the theme song =P
Maria’s theme “With Legs Like That” is so effin annoying, I can’t stand it. I much prefer the production themes WWE gives to some of the divas (Alicia, Rosa, Katie Lea…). But no theme is worst than “Holla”, the slut-please theme music is very suitable for Kelly Kelly tho.
I could see SmackDown’s Layla use “Bossy” by Kelis as her theme music, or “Black And Gold” by Sam Sparro.
Your choices for Maria are both suitable, not that much, acceptable. The first one is cool, but the second one is more heel diva material.
That first song makes me feel like I’m trapped in Hollister. :P Definitely not my kind of music, but it does sound a lot like her current theme and would probably fit. I like the Kelly Clarkson song though, and it’s certainly peppy enough for her.
i like drop the girl for maria.
the other diva b-sides with alicia was so good because its the perfect theme for her.
for me the worst theme is eve’s theme”she looks good” because dont have energy like others.
another good option is hot by avril lavigne for maria

Erin, I thought the same thing :D That nasally punk rock (or maybe I should say rawk) kind of music is the only thing you can ever hear blaring out of that store. I am personally into mostly rock, but not that kind.
I think she could use either one of them, and it would be fitting, but seeing as how we would have to hear it on a weekly basis, I would say the Kelly Clarkson one.
i happen to LOVE that genre (hitt he lights, attack attack, all time low) and i think the first choice suits maria PERFECTLY. i love diva b-sides, i came up with a few of my own hehe, like these: Circus by Britney Spears for Natalya or Kelly Kelly. Scream by avenged sevenfold for Daffney. Here i come by fergie for Mickie James (because GOD am i sick of her theme) and i have tons more haha
