On her MySpace page, Jenna Morasca blogged about her Victory Road experience…or inexperience, for that matter:
Eventually I wanted to blog about my wrestling debut match Sunday.
This past Sunday on Victory Road I had my debut match against Sharmell LIVE! I want to thank everyone who has sent me love and props for the match. I also know some wrestling lovers were not as excited as I was. I want to clear up a few things. First, you cannot judge my match against Sharmell like you would a pro such as Kong, Tara, etc. The reason why- I am NOT a wrestler! The match was not to debut my wrestling skills it was purely for entertainment, which I think it was. Considering I have never wrestled in my life and only had a few days to practice everything I am really proud of myself. So you cannot judge and analyze as you would another wrestler. Its apples and oranges in my mind. Second, for it being my first match EVER and first time ever doing wrestling moves I am freaking proud of myself, I had fun, thought it looked good, and no one got hurt. Last I heard some people crying about wrestling should be reserved for “legit” wrestlers and “legit” matches. I have to say to that- PILLOW FIGHT MATCH. I have seen matches where literally all the girls were doing was hitting each other with pillows in lingerie. At least I was doing a cross body, splash, etc. Along with some fun campy stuff like my pin and entrance (which I loved).
But I was always told any press is good press and I gues the fact that people are still talking about it, and my entrance is a good thing!
Needless to say I had fun, thought the match looked good, and I am proud of Sharmell and I…
I think it’s fair to assume that absolutely no one went into viewing this match with very high expectations. That being said, it is obvious that Jenna thinks very highly of her work. She must. How could anyone confidently saunter around on national television in leopard print and fishnets, otherwise? Jenna’s pleas not to be “unfairly judged” reads rather transparent, at least to me. Especially, when she contradicts herself by disputing criticism against her match and deeming “any press is good press” in the very same breath. You simply cannot walk into a wrestling ring (or crawl, in Jenna’s case), put on a match, and expect not to be reviewed or criticized in some aspect. That age-old mantra of “if you can’t stand the heat, get out of the kitchen” comes to mind.
In all fairness, at least Jenna did attempt to pull off some manuevers, albeit horrifically. However, her comparison to Divas matches of yesteryear also comes across as a feeble attempt to justify her lackluster in-ring debut. As if that is an acceptable defense. I’m just wondering just who exactly advised Jenna to use these alleged “pillow fight matches” as an archetype for her Victory Road match. (Hey, I guess my Maria comparison wasn’t so far-fetched after all…?) We all know TNA prides itself on being the “real wrestling” alternative to WWE. So if it’s entertainment she’s after, perhaps she is in the wrong company? Either that, or TNA has completely lost its marbles.
We appreciate the effort, Jenna, but for the sake of wrestling fans and sympathizers alike, let’s leave the wrestling to the “legit” wrestlers, shall we? The scars resulting from Victory Road simply cannot be healed. It may even take a series of Sarita and Alissa Flash matches, not to mention a bottle of bleach, to fully purify my memory. So, here’s to Jenna Morasca’s first and hopefully last ring appearance. Hip hip hooray! As the song says, “she will survive.”

if shes not a wrestler why compete in a wrestling match?
TNA wasted time on this..they could of done something better..like makes the TNA knockout battle royal longer and more entertaining!
On the blog last night I asked if anyone had read what Claudio Castagnoli wrote on the subject well:
“Sharmell, I’m giving you the benefit of the doubt here. Not that she looked particularly good in this match, but how could she? Now what was so insulting? Well the fact that this chick that’s from a reality show that needs absolutely no talent can get a job in the wrestling business and being featured on PPV making a mockery out of the sport I love! Starting at the horrible entrance to the horrible slap right before (Awesome) Kong splashed her, you’re a disgrace to the ring. Did you think if you act like a stripper people would not care what you do in the ring? Did she even train once? Because if she did I’m sure she’d be able to take a halfway decent bump or maybe run the ropes straight. But no, nothing! How can you be in a sport and not trying to get yourself ready? How insulting is that?”
I do completely agree with him but in concerns to Jenna’s article:
I agree that it was for entertainment but its still incredibly poor considering it was on a card that you have to pay for. Waste of time on a PPV could have given more to another match. The only highlight of the match was indeed Kong. For a company that prides itself on not having “divas” on its show. Hypocrisy at its finest.
I have a few questions for Morasca:
1) If you are not a wrestler, then what were you doing trying to wrestle in a wrestling ring on a wrestling PPV?
2) If your “match” with Sharmell was meant to be entertainment then why was it not entertaining? Any why, praytell, did the crowd erupt into “boring” chants during it?
Jenna seems to be confused about a few things. Going in, she had to know that this thing would be heavily scrutinized. The fact that she can’t handle it proves that deep down she knows the segment was terrible. She’s just getting defensive.
Oh Jenna, Jenna, Jenna… No one’s upset that your match sucked. Let’s face it, we all knew your match would suck. I think I speak for all of us when I say, we’re upset that this match was booked in the first place. We’re upset that we were subjected to this match instead of having the Title Match, which featured real wrestlers by the way, go on for a few minutes more.
And in regards to Claudio Castagnoli’s statement: Well said, my friend. Well said.
I would rather see Ashley Massaro holding the diva’s title instead of seing this tacky girl wrestle ever again. And Ashley is a huge failure.
I don’t have a clue why is she still there in the first place. TNA scores when it comes to their female division, but why do they had to insert a rotten apple amongst the other talents?
Her attitude at the most is really annoying.
I don’t even find her attractive. Her ring entrance was disgusting to look at.
She doesn’t look athletic, and how dull can her face be?
She is the first female in TNA that I can actually say I hate to death.
Oh please, why the hell is Jenna getting all defensive over the criticism when it’s what she deserved! Aldso, how in the hell did she think her entrance was “Awesome” it was her acting like a stripper yet it wasn’t the least bit sexy at all, it looked so clutsy and her pink Nike shoes ruined it all when they got like caught in the ropes. She should just stop wrestling, she’s a complete disgrace to everything that is wrestling, she makes Ashley seem like a legend in the ring, she makes Maria look like the next Trish Stratus. She’s a skank who wanted to make some extra money so she came here, and it’s blowing up exactly in her face. When someone decides to wrestle in a certain companty for cupcakes backstage, you know something is completely wrong.
I can’t even being to describe all of the things about this that disgust me as a wrestling fan. I agree with the Claudio Castagnoli blog that Steven_D quoted up there.
It’s simple. If you’re not a wrestler, you shouldn’t be in the ring. Stop makin excuses about it. Then she has the nerve to say well I’ve seen matches where girls just hit each other with pillows (which I’m sure is about the divas). Atleast those pillow matches were somewhat entertaining. Those slaps at the end of the match were horrible too.
She thanks everyone for the love and support she got, WTF??? who was that, 1 guy??? Also “purely for entertainment” my A$$…The only thing entertaining about the match was her outfit, that’s it. Plus you come out, and say that you had no training, or just a few days practice. WoW, so not only did the match suck, as a result of that but you now have officially baried Awesome Kong’s cred. Storyline, was that Kong trained you yet you admit, and act like you’ve had no wrestling training…Great job TNA writers, atleast make a part of your storyline believable, but no.
Yes Jenna. How dare wrestling fans watch a wrestling PPV and expect to see actual wrestling? The nerve of them.
mpezza-LOL
Jenna-Trust me,your match was very,VERY entertaining.I laughed my ass off! From the slutty outfit,to the so-called “wrestling”,to even having to pull some hair from a woman’s head!it was VERY entertaining.Ok,look.Sweety,you suck, plain and simple, and the fact that you get to show your prima donna little face on telivision is a HUGE disgrace.I mean don’t get me wrong,I respect, no,I don’t actually.I see that you were at least, maybe trying to put o a “match”,but you didn’t.But hey!Look on the bright side!At least you know your next profession!’Exotic Dancing’,I’m sure you might be good at that,unless,god-forbid,you break a nail!
