With all the talk over the past couple of weeks about what is being described as the worst match in TNA history, Jenna vs Sharmell at Victory Road, you’d think there was only one person in the match — Jenna Morasca. After all, she’s been the one doing all the talking… until now.
Jenna’s opponent, industry veteran Sharmell piped in with her thoughts on a recent stint on the Monday Night Mayhem radio show. And it seems as though Sharmell shares much of the same opinion as her former foe:
Actually that’s my first time hearing it, because I hadn’t heard any critique on that. We’ve been working ever since Victory Road, so I hadn’t heard any of the feedback of that, but if they think it was the ‘worst match,’ that’s great. All publicity is good publicity, so at least they are still talking about me. Even though I didn’t get the pin, I was obviously the most-experienced, the one who was able to handle herself the best in the ring, & got the better of Jenna throughout the match. So let them keep talking…any news is good news.
You can’t polish a turd, Sharmell.

I don’t agree with Sharmell, but…”Even though I didn’t get the pin, I was obviously the most-experienced, the one who was able to handle herself the best in the ring”…that’s true!!
Three women have tried to cover up their bad matches with the excuse of: “Any publicity is good publicicty.”
Jenna said it, Sharmell said it, and Maryse said it.
Well she didn’t exactly pull a Jenna. I think she was able to give a positive response while saying something truthful.. “Even though I didn’t get the pin, I was obviously the most-experienced, the one who was able to handle herself the best in the ring, & got the better of Jenna throughout the match.” She didn’t play the blame game, or the ” at least we’re not doing T & A ” card. She’s not aggressively defending herself from the fans. She’s just proving that she’s the more classier women of wrestling.
I do agree that her response was much classier than Jenna’s, but the “All publicity is good publicity” is kind of stupid, and it’s NOT true, the match wasn’t good publicity, it was AWFUL publicity!!
I kind of feel bad for Sharmell because the match is going to be in “Worst Matches Ever Lists” and I think she’s a little better than that…She must hate Jenna at the moment, I would…
“You can’t polish a turd, Sharmell.”
Well said, Melanie, well said.
Honestly, anyone who says that any publicity is good publicity needs a CAT scan. Was David Arquette winning the WCW title good publicity? Was Team Pacman good publicity? Was the Benoit murder/suicide good publicity? No, no and no.
By that same token, if footage of the “match” gets aired on TMZ or wherever and people who normally don’t watch wrestling see Sharmell & Morasca falling all over each other as the crowd boos and chants, “Boring!” is THAT good publicity? Hell no!
I reiterate my point: Sharmell & Morasca both know their segment was a complete embarassment and they’re both trying to gloss over that fact. Sharmell’s just being a little smarter about the way she does it.
I agree that Sharmell is way better than that, people just think of Sharmell as Booker T’s wifey, but fail to remember when she was wrestling in WCW. So when she does have a chance to wrestle in TNA, she gets booked in a crappy match. If I was her I would never agreed to the match.
can we please stop with this jenna sharmell match…we ALL know it was possibly the worst wrestling match of all time, and its like everyday there is a new story about it. Can we just put this behind us, and forget about it. I’m tired of reading these articles, and the bad memories from the match come back, so enough…nothing you women, or TNA can say to us, will make us sympathize to you, so just drop it, and admit you guys F’D up already, because the more, and more you try to defend yourselves, it makes you look stupider then you’re already are.
I liked Sharmells response..seems like she knows how to take the criticism and learn to move on and keep her head held high! Lets hope Jenna learns from Sharmells response! hehe
Well, at least I know I won’t regret not seeing it.
Can’t polish a turd….priceless lol
