We are giving away a copy of the new biography about Mildred Burke — ‘The Queen of the Ring: Sex, Muscles, Diamonds and the Making of an American Legend‘. Burke is considered one of the founding mothers of women’s wrestling in North America; active between 1935 and 1955, she is a former NWA World Women’s Champion and is recognised as the first ever WWWA World Heavyweight Champion which was held nearly 50 years later by one Awesome Kong.
Burke was posthumously inducted into the Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2002, after passing away in 1989 and was also inducted in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter Hall of Fame in 1996.
Her personal life was just as notable as her wrestling career, it’s safe to say Burke, real name Mildred Bliss, lived a fascinating life. A quick look at her Wikipedia page should give you some background on that.

I’m really excited to read this book! Sounds very interesting.
I love reading about classic women wrestlers. Lipstick and Dynamite is really interesting and I’m sure this will be aswell.
