It’s a staple of tabloid magazines: hard hitting, investigative & highly entertaining! Best & Worst Dressed lists can make or break careers in Hollywood and for a site with ‘Dirt’ in the title, it’s only fitting we take this time tested feature & apply it to our Divas! Each week we’ll bring you the best and worst looks from the week gone by, it’s pretty simple right?

best

Key: School-like grading scheme

This week saw some cute outfits from the Divas who didn’t wrestle, including a trio from Raw and one from SmackDown.

Kicking off with Kelly Kelly, complete with Jeremy ‘Mercury Poisoning’ Piven’s arm over her lap. Yes, it looks like a poser-y Juicy Couture dress but what else to expect from young K2? It still looks pretty good on her. C

Raw’s Rosa Mendes knows black is her colour and looked hot from the tiny side glimpse we saw of her. Those legs! C

Adding some colour t0 the room was Alicia Fox, in a flowery strapless dress. It’s probably the weakest of the three looks but it was decent by Diva standards. C-

Former Women’s Champion, Melina sure does love the off-the-shoulder look, huh? Nonetheless, I liked her ethnic patterned red top, it reminds me of my mom’s native Morocco. C

This week’s ‘Worst’ after the cut:

worst

Key: ‘Minor mishap’ / ‘Progressively worse’ / ‘Lost cause’

With the good comes the bad and sadly for this crop of Divas & Knockouts, they fell short of reaching an acceptable Diva Dirt standard. Apologies to these girls but if they’re reading [which they likely aren't] consider it a challenge to make it to our ‘Best’ list next time!

Honestly, I’m susprised I haven’t gone for the Beautiful People earlier in this feature. Granted, it’s not as bad as their usual wrestling gear, Velvet Sky still looked trashy with her bra straps on show while the obligatory hot pink top looks like it’s in child size. Progressively worse.

SmackDown Diva Maria is pretty much a permanent fixture to this side of the list, but there was something a little more hit-and-miss this week than the usual total miss. I liked the look she was going for but it failed in execution, the dark green waistcoat look could have looked hot if it was larger [again another case of 'child size']. Meanwhile, I don’t even know what’s going on with the chains or whatever that was. The Maria grading scheme: slightly better than last week.

Fellow Beautiful Person, Madison Rayne didn’t look too great in her also undersized dress, though she was sitting down so that could make it look like it’s shrunk. Then there’s the overtime with the pushup bra…

That’s all for our Best & Worst Dressed list! As with all things Diva Dirt, you can have your say in the comments. Anymore fashion dos and don’ts you’d like to bring to our attention? Want to add in your own critiques? You know what to do!

I hate Melina’s top, but she looks good wearing almost everything…
Rosa and Kelly look great, Alicia looks a little worse, but she looks acceptable too…
Madison should not wear a mini-dress while sitting down, Velvet looks trashy everytime I see her and Maria is just “ugh”…

Madison is actually wearing a jean skirt, so her top is more like a tunic and not a dress.
Rosa Mendez is slowly becoming one of my favorite dressers. Ever since she ditched the her skirt wrestling ensemble (and I do hope that she has parted ways with that attire), she has morphed into a femme fatale, especally when she’s rocking the (p)leather tights.
I’m huge fan of Melina’s top, it super summer-y and fun.
One question though, why isn’t Traci Brooks on here? She was by far the worst dress female wrestler out here. I’m really sick of seeing her tata’s and having to avert my eyes everytime her pants slip on camera; crack kills!

I’ve always been in two minds about The Beautiful People’s attires. Yeah, they look trashy, but that’s sort of their whole gimmick, right? So, for me, they’re probably best dressed purely because they keep their gimmick alive in their backstage “civilian” clothes.

Here’s a question for you, Melanie, or anybody else who might know.. Do the Divas/KOs actually get to dress how they like or is it something that they have to clear with creative/writers? I understand there are somewhat certain limits with in-ring attire, but as all the ladies featured in this week’s List are in non-wrestling attire, I was just wondering if it was them or not who dressed themselves?.. Hope that made sense!

@ Kaledrina – I believe that it’s a two sides thing. The Divas/Knockouts probably choose what they want to wear, but I think the creative writers need to have an opinion too, but I’m not 100% sure, so yeah…

You guys seem like you’re biased when it comes to Maria. Your dislike for her is obvious whenever you have a post about her. And you guys constantly put her on your ‘Worst Dressed List.’ It’ seems a little unprofessional to show dislike for a diva in all aspects, it’s one thing to talk about her wrestling because we all know that it isn’t her forte, while running an all divas site the last thing you should be is biased. Don’t get me wrong, I’m no fan of Maria, but I feel sorry for the poor girl, she gets enough crap as it is.

    @Kaledrina

Everything they wear when appearing on tv has to be cleared by management first, especially garments that have text or brand logos on it. They also don’t want wrestlers sort of promoting a clothing brand that in any way affects WWE. That could be if WWE has an exisiting deal with a rival brand, the wrestler sort of getting a sponsorship deal without WWE’s consent or profiting from, or sayings on a shirt that WWE might get backlash/negative feedback from. If the wrestler/diva won’t be on camera, I don’t think it matters as much. But I’m pretty sure the girls wear their own clothes. It just needs clearance on tv.

I’ve noticed that on some occasions, Divas have appeared on tv in outfits they recently did photoshoots for. Maryse and Mickie for sure did (ironically, I think on each occasion Mickie got sprayed in the face). And I’m pretty sure photoshoot outfits are picked out by WWE stylists (though Maryse has worn that black leather half-jacket more than once, maybe it’s hers to keep). These photoshoot attires are probably a subliminal way to get people to visit the website.

I’ve also read that WWE has a dress code for all employees coming to the arena. Kinda like the NBA, although not nearly as strict. They’re expected to dress an appropriate way. I think the exceptions to the dress code are if it’s in-character or if it’s a top level guy like Triple H.

astrozombie50 — When did we ever claim to be professional? I’m pretty sure I’ve said this a dozen times but I guess we always have to say it once more, of course we’re biased, that’s the whole point of a blog — personal opinion.

Although your comment strikes me a little odd this week and makes me wonder if you actually bothered to read what I wrote before writing? Perhaps you just saw the picture and decided to word vomit? I did give Maria her due props this week if you actually bothered to read, her outfit was still bad but it had redeeming qualities and I liked the look she was going for, as I wrote in the actual piece.

Kaledrina — Clothing/ring attire is pretty much individual choice, as far as I know. Though as spiffy mentions, they gotta dress appropriately.

God, this “biased” thing is getting to stupid to talk about…this is a BLOG, if you create your blog you’re going to state your own opinions!! If you disagree you can discuss it but calling this biased is a little childish.
And I think that we all agree that Maria is a bad wrestler and a fashion disgrace, so yes, if she gets fired because of DivaDirt (which is not going to happen), I think we all should throw a big party!!

I bet on this site Maria would be in the worst dressed no matter how good she looks or dressed

Melanie, I think that people might be reacting to the statement “SmackDown Diva Maria is pretty much a permanent fixture to this side of the list”; but of course this is your blogpost and you are entitled to your opinion. I for one think her outfit could have been a hit, her major flaw is the necklace which was too much. I love the hoops (what can I say, I’m a downtown LA latina, that’s how we roll).
Anyway, I suppose if anyone disagrees with Melanie’s opinion they can comment on it here, or post their own blog on mydivadirt?

I think Melina’s outfit is awesome, so as Maria’s but the chains annoyed me a little bit. I never liked The Beautiful People’s attires, in or out the ring.. I dont know but i really do hate it..

    @Melanie

Actually I have to be honest here, as soon as I reread my comment (after I posted it) I instantly regretted what I said. Sadly I couldn’t delete it. As for the ‘professional’ comment, really there’s nothing I can say that can back me up here other than while I was typing my comment I had completely forgotten that it was a blog. This (to me at the very least) feels more like a wrestling dirtsheet. It’s where I go to check the latest diva gossip, rather than a dirtsheet where it’s primarily focused on top superstars in the business.

I apologize if I came off as rude, I figure I owe you at least that much. Though I hardly consider anything I said is considered as ‘word vomit’ I was just voicing my opinion as well.

Frankly, I don’t care if people think I’m being harsh on Maria. I’ve heard it a billion times since I began this site and never have I and never will I let other people’s opinion cloud my judgement. I won’t sugarcoat my opinion just to placate people and I would never ask that of any of you guys either.

If you think we’re harsh on Maria, newsflash — heard it all before. Someone saying it for the umpteenth time doesn’t make a difference to me.

That’s not to sound as though I don’t care about your opinions, because I do and I read all of the comments on the site. But unless you’re getting extremely personal, I would never tell anyone to censor their opinion just to placate me or other readers.

I’m very blunt and the regulars know what they’re getting themselves into when they visit this site.

astrozombie50 — I apologise for the ‘word vomit’ comment.

To me Maria’s outfit is the worst, I hate what she wears. I also hate how she’s some peoples favorite diva, when what has she done to deserve that? She CAN’T wrestle.. all she’s done be “pretty?” And I don’t even think she’s one of the prettiest divas, I think others are prettier.. and it’s not fair when there are diva’s that can actually wrestle that she’s a lot of people’s favorite diva. It’s stupid!
