A source at the scene of the SmackDown house show where Michelle McCool was injured, e-mailed into Diva Dirt with more details of the incident that saw McCool tweak her left knee.

We’re told McCool’s opponent on the night, Eve Torres is at fault after a botched roll-up on the Women’s Champion. “Eve didn’t look good, she stumbled through the match and then screwed up the roll-up. You could tell instantly from Michelle’s face something had gone wrong.”

A second source confirms to Diva Dirt that Torres’  ‘akward’ roll-up was the cause, adding: “She [Michelle] rolled out of the ring immediately and looked to be in a lot of pain.”

Our second source says it best: “They shouldn’t let girls in the ring if they can’t do basic moves. So she can do a moonsault – big deal.”

Michelle is set to return to SmackDown next week.

  1. Its true what the second source says. Divas shouldn’t be allowed in the ring if they cant do basic moves accurately. Maybe Diva search winners and FCW women in wrestling training should be pushed to the limit to ensure they can wrestle properly without causing harm to themselves and thier opponents.

  2. Well then wrestling will be extincted soon. And big deal, Victoria injured some people too, a broken jaw on beth phoenix surely hurts more. So that second fan may as well think tgat no one should wrestle.
Everybody botches. They don’t need to be perfect.
And MickieJamesFan, Mickie injured Maryse, should she be out of the ring as well???

  3. No i didnt mean it in a way that was slamming Eve but Divas who came up other promotions that werent really wrestling related often botch things more and I believe they should have further training to ensure that the risk of any mistakes is lower than what it would be.
And i agree that everyone makes mistakes and botches. But not only did Eve botche the move she also stumbled the whole way through the match, maybe a few hits from Michelle made her focus go and she couldnt really concentrate on what she was doing and how she had to do it.

Wretlers have to b Pyshically and Mentally prepared for every match they have to ensure no mistakes are made that can threaten thier careers.

  4. I wouldn’t make any rash conclusions based on these reports. Certainly, gaining experience as a worker means gaining experience in protecting one’s opponent in the ring. A “green” diva may very well be more prone to injuring themselves or their opponents.

But you also have to consider that is Pro Wrestling, things can always go wrong. Does Michelle get injured if Eve is a more experienced worker? Who knows? Quality workers have certainly made costly mistakes in the past.

Overall, Michelle will have been on the shelf for 2 and a half weeks. Diva fans should consider themselves lucky.

  5. Something in my mind told me that this was all going to come back and put on Eve. I knew it! :(

It’s pretty sad when certain people are chastised for making mistakes, and others are not. Pros make mistakes to, believe it or not.

dunk20, you brought up a great example in Victoria. Lord knows she’s got talent that excels to no end, and is beyond awesome, but she did manage to make a small mistake that took Beth Phoenix out for nearly a year. Yet she doesn’t receive any venom spewed on her. Why? She’s viewed as a wrestler and doesn’t make too many mistakes. Eve, however, is viewed as a Diva Search winner and not a wrestler, and is dissed for every single mistake she does.

Long story short, I’m refusing to play the blame game on this and instead still calling it like I see it and claim it to be nothing more than a freak accident. Something that can happen to anyone, at anytime, against ANYONE.

  6. Oh no im not pointing the finger at Eve, I just believe that green divas should have more wrestling experience so that they are less at risk of doing anything wrong, dont get me wrong even experienced ones do things wrong. And how do we know maybe Michelle sold the roll-up wrong and landed awkardly.

  7. I cant wait to see smackdown this week, hopefully the girls have put on a good show for us to see.

Besides I really missed Layla last week :D

  8. i completely agree with C-Ray
    no one is to blame
accidents happen all the time in wrestling.

  9. “They shouldn’t let girls in the ring if they can’t do basic moves. So she can do a moonsault – big deal.”

i kinda agree with this, if you look at it its pretty true, eve only does some catchy moves like her dropkicks/moonsault, her bodyslams always look very weird, and her moveset in general always looks pretty weird i cant remember the matches but when i think about it in my mind i see her doing these strange moves and im not sure how i should call them….., i am not trying to diss her, its great that she is learning and working hard but thats just something i notice.

p.s i wonder how long it will take for those michelle-haters to start talkin about how Michelle is trying to blame eve or something like that, anyways accidents happen i am just glad that its nothing serious…

  10. I think this is another case of people trying to come for Michelle. By saying that there’s heat on Eve for the mistake they’re making it sound like Michelle is viewed as too good and valuable to be injured by the guys backstage. Nobody said anything about one of the Bella twins kicking Maryse in the knee wrong and causing an injury that took her out for months, resurfaced, and taken her out of action again. Nobody said anything about Victoria breaking Beth Phoenix’s jaw and Candice Michelle’s nose. I think we can chalk another one up to IWC lies and fabrications. But yes, if Eve is still so bad that she’s stumbling through matches and messing up spots she should either be sent back to FCW or released.

  11. I think it’s safe to safe that it’s not easy turning a model into a wrestler. It takes years and years of training to be a better wrestler; the problem is that either the models cramed all the wrestling in months, or does not take the wrestling seriously. Take TRASHley MESSaro, for example, she was beyond fake, and botched every move she executed, even the basics. And she wrestled in WrestleMania twice, with all that botching? COME ON, NOW!

Eve is in the same charade because she learned wrestling in months to a year. She’s getting there, but she still got ways to go. Also what about Christy Hemme in TNA, talking about training for 3 months for a match with Kong, she is far beyond KONG’s league! Kong would’ve KILLED Christy if the sport was real.

If they are going to push a model, push them to be better in the ring, not to a title run. Because if a Champion is someone who doesn’t take the job seriously (Maryse), then the product will be as good as useless. I know they are continuing the Melina/Michelle feud, but whose next for the faces after Melina? EVE, or (GOD FORBID) Maria?

I think the models should undergo more severe training, and come back in 3 to 5 years with high experience and deliver in the ring. It worked with Alicia Fox (my fav), so why not all the others? I know WWE doesn’t care about the division, be we (the fans) do.

  12. To the people claiming that Eve shouldn’t be allowed in the ring til she has mastered the basics, I have to ask a question:

How do you suggest she learns to perfect basic manouvers if she is not allowed to try them out?

There’s only so much that spending times with trainers outwith the ring can do for a wrestler. They have no oppurtunities to grow or properly master their trade without taking part in competitive matches inside the ring, hence why Eve has been wrestling the more experienced divas at house shows.

If Eve is not allowed to take part in matches, how do you suggest she truly learns how to wrestle?

  13. Umm… continue to train? Most people who actually join wrestle schools don’t get to have a match for a year.

  14. People are drawing a HECK of a lot of conclusions with this. All this post is doing is analyzing what happened when Michelle got injured. Eve botched a schoolgirl, and looked a bit sloppy (as she has since she step foot in the ring). NO WHERE did it mention anything about heat on Eve or anything of the sort. I guess it goes to show that people will read something that says one thing and comprehend it a completely different way. This isn’t “IWC” speculation–this is what people saw firsthand at that house show.

  15. But actual ring time is inevitably more beneficial than spending time with the trainers. It gives the wrestler a true experience of what its like. And it seems to work, just look at Trish and Lita.

Anyway, I agree that she does need more training. But I don’t think she should be banned from the ring, there are plently of women in WWE who are not as good as Eve, and as someone pointed out, even the most experienced divas cause injuries.

  16. I’m not saying that’s what you guys are trying to make the story out to be, but just read these messages, its already starting to be spun to look like that. And this isn’t the only site where I’m hearing stuff like that so that’s what I mean by IWC speculation.

  17. Brandon — We’ve sat on this story for quite a while to get more than one first-hand account as well as spoken to people in the company who chose not to be cited in this story. The different stories aligned in agreement that this was Eve’s ‘fault’ and that’s why we ran this post.

No one’s bashing Eve here, no one’s trying to make McCool look superior. It’s the facts as presented to us, presented to our readers. I like Eve but I am able to distance my personal opinion of her from the facts, so to those commenters who seem to think it’s a ruse to pin it on Eve, I wrote this story and I consider myself a fan of her’s.

  18. Wow i hope ppl don`t start to hate eve over an accident ….i swear sum ppl r ignorant they rather judge eve then learn to love her

  19. Of course this “reprot” is going to point the finger at the less expirecnce diva. None of us were at the show, so you can set there and say oh well it Eve’s fault. Nones to blame, accidents happen!

  20. I’m sorry if what I’m saying is being taken the wrong way but I didn’t mean that your story was making Eve out to be the bad guy. Like you said this story has been going around for a while so my comments were involving the story in general, not your report specifically. I don’t think that Michelle is using backstage pull to get Eve in trouble and I don’t believe that Eve should be blamed for an injury, this is wrestling after all and worse has happened to better.

  21. The second part of my comment wasn’t directed at you Brandon, just the first paragraph.

  22. This is wrestling and injuries happen all the time, with the men and women, inexperienced and seasoned vets. It’s a sport and accidents happen all the time. Eve has been training and it’s been showing and a couple of weeks ago everyone was praising her for it, but now a small accident like this happens and suddenly she needs to go back to FCW? I’ll admit that she might need to train more, but this incident shouldn’t be her curtain call because I agree that wrestling matches on tv and at house shows helps more than just training alone. And like someone else mentioned, Victoria broke Beth’s jaw with a simple roll-up as well as kicking Candice in the face too hard and breaking her nose. This was an accident and Eve shouldn’t be blamed, this is a dangerous sport.

  23. if you ask me Eve should not be “blamed” for an injury, and i still think she is improving in the ring i can understand what the sources have said but i still disagree with the blame on Eve as she did not go out to the ring it purposly injure McCool, i think Eve should continue to compete as she is improving….and everyone can have an off day, plus an injury can happen at any time (like the advert says) and its no ones fault, sometimes things go wrong, people need to accept that but if feel if someone like Beth would have injured Michelle it would have been okay as she is a proper wrestler and it was a mistake but if someone like Eve, Kelly or Rosa Mendes (etc) were to injure a diva they are first to get attacked and be blamed for their wrestling skills and are told they should be fired or sent back to fwc because they can’t wrestle which personally think is unfair, i really hope wwe dont hold Eve Torres back for this….funny, how she hasn’t been on television since the injury….could be a coinsidence but hmmmm.

  24. Perhaps the title of this post is misleading to some of you? Because comments like yours, Hunt-A1 are recurring in this post. Sorry if you’ve been misled, I don’t mean to put the ‘blame’ on Eve as if it’s a bad thing — it’s just a title. In this case, Eve’s roll-up on Michelle, it seems is what caused her to become injured & Eve is accountable for that. That is what is meant by the title, I think some people are reading too much into individual words & phrases.

Nowhere have we suggested it’s a huge big deal, people seem to be jumping to conclusions from reading this post. Those were the thoughts of the people that were there & that’s all. People seem to be taking comments on an isolated incident and drawing their own grandiose conclusions. Nowhere has anyone suggested a lasting ‘blame’ on Eve that has resulted in a punishment. Nor has it been suggested that she’s in the ‘doghouse’ or has ‘heat’ on her.

It’s just an incident; it happened, it got reported and that’s that. In your comments, some of you guys are attaching your own strings.

  25. I know that it is easy to hurt yourself/others with simple accidents or whatever but how the hell did a roll up injure michelle!? i wonder if she tried a different version other than the school boy.
