Interest in women’s MMA and in one woman in particular, Gina Carano, is at an all time high ahead of tomorrow night’s Strikeforce: Carano vs Cyborg event. By tomorrow’s end, Carano or her opponent Cris Cyborg will be crowned the first Strikeforce Women’s Champion. Compared to wrestling, Strikeforce’s promotion of it’s women is way more progressive — there’s a big buzz around the main event fight, which has been promoted heavily for months.
As the hours wind down, Carano has given one of her final interviews before the fight. Watch below:
And just to prove Carano fever is at fever pitch, there are even rumours of her posing for Playboy, which have since been dismissed. With WWE and TNA already in on the Playboy fix, how soon is it really until Carano or one of her fellow female fighters poses? It almost seems inevitable.

Wow, I’m really excited for this match. I really think (and hope) that it will deliver. I like how humble Carano is and admirable she is toward Cyborg, so we know there is a mutual respect there. I think it was interesting for her to point out how difficult it is for females in MMA to gain respect and for people to take them seriously. That seems to be a common issue in both mixed martial arts and wrestling.
