The Wrestling Observer has revealed that the timing of the newly formed Knockouts Tag Team Championship is not a coincidence, as it’s being launched with Jeff Jarrett out of power.

Jarrett reportedly was a firm believer of only having three titles in TNA before launching the Knockouts and Legends titles. The additional set of belts brings the count to six. For some crazy reason *cough* Jarrett felt that ‘the more belts you have, the less important they are’. Pshaw!

Perhaps most interestingly, if you like bullets to the brain: ODB and Cody Deaner may form a team in the tag team tournament to crown the first champions. The reason? Comedic relief.

They just keep hitting them out of the ballpark, don’t they? My anti-Dixie Carter list keeps growing. Cue Tyra-esque, “We were rooting for you.”

  1. Wow that would be a huge letdown.

  2. At this point, it wouldn’t shock me to see ODB and Deaner be pushed to win the belts. TNA absolutely amazes me with the way they waste their talent. They have some of the most talented and capable wrestlers in the world on their roster, and they are completely over-shadowed by horrible booking.

  3. wait,i’m confused,is Diva dirt FOR knockout tag titles or AGAINST them?

I know for sure Diva Dirt is against ODB and Deaner being in the tournment

  4. It’s not clear cut; it’s a great opportunity for the girls so it’s exciting in that sense but also it is true that there would be too many titles & not enough TV time.

  5. another reason why the knockouts need there own show

melanie, this may interest you and everyone else,JB just wrote on his twitter “I’ve heard there will be a familiar face in the upcoming Knockouts? tag title tournament you probably wouldn’t expect”

  6. Thanks for the tip.

  7. ODB & Cody Deaner… gee, I can’t imagine why Jarret would ever be opposed to this. *rolls eyes*

Seriously though, so far for teams we have:

    -the Beautiful People.
    -Kong & Saeed.
    -Taylor & Sarita.

So far, so good. But then we have:

    -Tara & Christy Hemme.
    -Traci Brooks & Sharmell.
-ODB & Cody Deaner (is this confirmed yet?)

3 good teams, 2 completely random, crappy excuses for teams and 1 comic relief joke of a team that only Vince Russo will find funny. And there’s still 2 more to go…

All due respect, but I reeeeeaaaaly don’t see this working out.

  8. Hi to everyone.., Im new here..
    So this is my comments

LOL @ everyone believing everything Meltzer says

Meltzer was the same guy who said Beth was pregnant

Also you are forgetting that Foley will make a ruling tonight on Impact(And it will be ban Deaner from the knockouts division)

  9. Meltzer didn’t report Beth was pregnant, it was a fake message board rumor that was credited to the Observer.

  10. And what about Beth’s Job In Jeopardy?,

Still you should take 50/50 everything he says.., you treat him like he is the Messiah of the Internet

  11. oh and Meltzer also posted this

An update on the current creative direction in TNA is that Vince Russo’s acting as the lead writer but Dixie Carter is in charge of the big picture. There is no outright philosophy other than it’s noted they seem to be going in a more sports-oriented direction. It was noted how the referees are given more power.

It’s said that Dixie wants to have more of an emphasis on pushing newer guys like Hernandez, who is one of her favorites, Bobby Lashley and Matt Morgan.

The announcing changes are also part of moving in a more sports-oriented direction. Replacing Don West with Taz was done in part to have a more sports-like announcing team with less of the two hours of high-energy Don West style that Jeff Jarrett was in favor of.

    He contradicts himself
First he says Dixie is going for a sports oriented direction, then He says TNA is gonna add Deaner/ODB for the tag team titles tournament
