This year’s No Surrender marked a staple in Knockout history. Sarita and Taylor Wilde faced Madison Rayne and Velvet Sky for the TNA Knockouts Tag Team Championship.
Saritaylor debut some new music and a new entrance. It isn’t any better, but hey it’s different. In all honesty, now they really just look like a hot-n-heavy couple doing the tango. Keep trying ladies, I’m sure you’ll get it eventually.
Tazz continues to spoil the outcome of the match (like he has done from the very beginning of the tournament), but it’s not like the result wasn’t utterly predictable.
The Beautiful People make their way to the ring in such a ridiculous manner that makes me absolutely miss Angelina Love. Call me crazy, though I prefer “incredibly loyal.” There’s no TLC without Left-Eye, there’s no Alice in Chains without Layne Staley, and there sure as hell ain’t no Beautiful People without Angelina Love. Wherefore art thou, Love? This entrance isn’t nearly the same without you. Bleh…I guess I’ll just have to settle for this Knockout knockoff for the time being.
Mike Tenay hits the final nail in the coffin by mentioning Angelina Love’s release onscreen, which makes it “legit” in some way. He even pulls the “future endeavors” line…which, as everyone knows, is the wrestling version of “Rest in Peace.”
Earl Hebner and his (oddly fitting Nazi-authoritarian) mustache assert themselves as the officiator to this match, playing off of Slick Johnson’s past history with the Beautiful People.
Sarita and Taylor Wilde waste no time in starting off the matchup. Madison Rayne is sent to the outside while Taylor Wilde basically slams Sarita on top of Velvet Sky, in quite an unique showing of offense… if I do say so myself. Velvet Sky kicks out. Sarita maneuvers a brief headlock into an armlock into a series of pin attempts. Madison breaks up the count, however, during. Taylor forges a tag and takes advantage. She and her partner take down Velvet with a double back elbow, and Sarita elevates Taylor into a moonsault for the 2-count. Tsk tsk…that’s cheating, ladies. Old Hebner knows no difference as Velvet tags out to Madison Rayne.
Taylor effortlessly breaks down Madison with a drop toehold and an elbow. Sarita makes the tag this time and delivers an elbow of her own. Sarita is whipped into the corner and suffers a sudden burst of gonash from miss Madison, resulting in a near fall. Madison is perplexed, as she is not used to arguing with referees. Madison takes Sarita into the corner, who endures a few kicks to the midsection. Madison tags out. The Beautiful People attempt some tandem action with a double straight jacket neckbreaker. Velvet makes the cover, but Sarita kicks out at 2. Velvet doesn’t go apeshit just yet. Instead, she bides her time with a couple mat slams. Velvet tries a sunset flip, but cowers out of it, avoiding a dropkick in the process. So much for mat initiative. Eh. Velvet puts the boots to Sarita, but Sarita kicks out at 2. After a modified curb stomp to the throat, Sarita kicks out again.
Madison tags in and puts Sarita in a headlock and then drops into a spinning neckbreaker for the 2-count. The Beautiful People continue to cut the ring in half with the quick tags. Velvet becomes a bit overzealous, allowing Sarita to recover amidst a float-over DDT. Both competitors make the hot tag out to their respective partners.
Madison runs into a dropkick and a rollover fireman’s carry slam, as well as a swift backbreaker. Taylor tries to ensure a victory for her team, but Velvet Sky breaks up the pin. For the finish, Sarita lays a springboard dropkick onto Madison Rayne who is subsequently taken down with a German suplex for the win.
Sarita and Taylor Wilde make history as the first ever TNA Knockout Tag Team Champions. Victory dance! No? Okay. I guess Old Hebner and his ‘serious business’ ‘stache won’t allow it.
Next up commences a battle of the sexes for the TNA Knockouts Championship.
An overly friendly fan cops a feel as we prepare for the TNA Knockouts Championship match: ODB vs. Cody Deaner. Give’r!
At the start of the match, ODB uses Cody Deaner’s attire as toilet paper and Deaner threatens to… “backhand” her. Okay…
ODB avenges this with a series of seemingly stiff shots to the Deaner. Deaners rolls out to the outside, and ODB follows up with a crossbody from the top rope. ODB leads Deaner back into the ring and into the corner. Deaner takes ODB down and continues to dominate for a considerable remainder of the match. The turnaround in the competition comes when Deaner attempts a top rope move and his halted by a low blow. The back-and-forth action continues until Deaner attempts to steal a win with his legs on the rope. A couple pin attempts later, and ODB reverts the match back into her favor with the TKO for the win, solidifying her place as the official Knockouts Champion. Took long enough, huh?
ODB boasts to Lauren about her victory, which I guess is the TNA equivalent to the Women’s Rights Movement. Just another comedy sketch match, folks. Nothing to see here.

Yeah your right about the the beautiful people is not right without angelina.
& the tag team entrances were just weird.
I liked ODB’s attire & her new finisher, the TKO
it’s looks more affecting that the running powerslam
The handling of the tag title match was awful, it should’ve had more time and be put further along the card. Putting it in the opening segment screams ‘filler’, which is pretty much what the belts will end up being. There was no prestige or ‘big hype’ feel. The match should’ve received more attention and should’ve been longer.
Neither of the matches were really that good, both were bearable but they weren’t what I hoped for at all. Glad ODB is champ :) and Also glad Taylor & Sarita are Champs.
I actually missed the match. Therefore, I can’t comment on the match-up itself. However, I’m rather happy for both Taylor and Sarita. They are a good tag-team, in my opinion, and they are both incredible wrestlers in the ring, of course, in my opinion. So, of course, I’m rooting for them in the long run.
Did anyone notice that TNA was really pushing Sarita and Taylor Wilde as a “legit” tag team on commentary, and Mike Tenay even went as far as to quote Scott D’Amore who called them a female version of the Rock ‘N Roll Express?
I know it had it’s goofy parts (as does anything ODB) but I wouldn’t write it off completely as being a comedy match. I actually enjoyed it more than the tag, which was pretty sloppy in some parts and just had an overall rushed feel to it.
A man competing for a women’s title…on a PPV? The idea behind the match itself is comedy. It wasn’t much of a wrestling clinic either, in my opinion.
the booking in TNA is horrible but i guess that will change in time when TNA starts increasing there ratings
lol,i thought the velvet and madison entrance was cute,it was nice seeing madison part of TBP entrance for once.I called it from the beginning that madison would do the job and she did
madisons TNA record
wins:0
loses:27
SAD!!!!!!
i’m super happy saritaylor and ODB won,all the right people won last night so i’m happy
I was talking to a buddy prior to No Surrender regarding ODB/Cody Deaner and thought that TNA should play out the storyline. Prior to the pay-per-view, my idea was for ODB to win the Knockout’s Championship, and have “TNA Management” inform Cody Deaner on TNA Impact that he is no longer allowed to compete with the Knockouts. I would then have Cody Deaner debut his sister who would enter into a feud with ODB (and I didn‘t mean in the style of Santino/Santina). A legit female wrestler would debut and come in as Cody Deaner’s sister. Had TNA Wrestling not used Mickie Knuckles as Moose, I would of picked her. However, I was thinking someone like Christie Ricci or another talented wrestler.
one more thing, those belts looked amazing, last nights No surrender PPV was NOT prodcasted in HD so lets wait until this thursday to see these belts up close
My guess is that the original fimish was a TBP win and SariTaylor goes on the chase, but under the circumstances this is for the best. SariTaylor has chemistry together, they will be fine face champs. Now let’s find the heel challengers.
Well I was at this show live so I can explain some stuff you PPV viewers didn’t see.
I am a smart mark, but I like to sit up with the regular fans to sort of get a gauge of what they’re thinking. You can’t think of those hundred or so TNA marks in The Pit as “The Crowd” because they are a small part of it and they’re kinda disconnected from the rest of the audience.
The casual fans don’t buy Velvet Sky and Madison Rayne as wrestlers. They just think of them as fragile Barbie dolls. Velvet’s sloppy biels triggered some laughter.
The fans don’t care about Taylor Wilde. Sarita got some pops though for her moves.
The fans didn’t understand why a man was fighting a woman for a Women’s title. There was some misogynist redneck sentiment in the crowd, with many pulling for Deaner. The fans actually seemed to be entertained by this match more than any other to this point. ODB is pretty charismatic and the fans liked the finish.
I marked out when Daffney got slammed
I actually liked this show. A lot more than most of the crowd, it would seem. Strangely, the match they seemed the most into was the one most of us were dreading, the Deaner/ODB match. Fans enjoyed seeing a woman beat up a redneck.
the knockouts title match was skipable at least ODB won
all tho i did laugh at when ODB said “all the fans over the world & all my fans in prison” lol
knockouts tag team champs yay
but it could have been a better match
Why is nobody giving Velvet/Madison a chance :( it saddens me lol
anyway I saw promise in them and they went above my expectations so go them, Saritaylor are an awesome tag team, actually I was marking for TBP when Slick got kicked out, I was like “OMG you can’t do that he’s an awesome ref”, lmao
Velvet/Madison pulled through for me that night and I was a bit annoyed that they didn’t win but it’s about time TBP got laid off a little bit, give some other knockouts a chance to shine instead, Madison yes looked trashy but oh well she’s still good looking, Velvet is :p as usual, actually to be honest at first I was miffed at Angelina leaving but it seems her absence ahs brough out the actual wrestlers in Madison and Velvet, loved the entrances and loved the match, Knockouts rule…
anyway I didn’t see ODB vs. Cody but from what I hear it wasn’t as bad as many of us were expecting, infact it’s probably easier to take ODB seriously with some decent gear on, she’s still fugly but alot easier to take as a legit wrestler not some side show Mel wannabe
Great review :)
the tag match was better than what i thought but have been longer and not the opening…i find TNA is still lost and weird donno why!!
madison should get more in ring time cause from wht i saw in the match…she is an ok wrestler, better than velvent in my opinion
The tag match was alright. It would have been better if the Beautiful People had a worker. I honestly feel that Taylor and Sarita make a good tag team, and keep things fast paced and interesting. There aren’t two better Knockouts for that role.
The ODB match turned out to be better than I had expected. It was a good comedy match at least, and those are very rare. I’m just glad to finally be rid of Cody Deaner.
I happened to like the tag team match. The Beautiful People just doesn’t work without Angelina but at least it brought out the wrestlers in Madison and Velvet. That and SariTaylor’s tag team finisher was just awesome! I like that they implemented both their styles in it.
The ODB/Deaner match wasn’t much to sing about except ODB’s mad strong! Her outfit also looks better.
BTW: Where’s Hamada and Alissa Flash?!! Hyped it up, showed awesome matches and then just made them disappear!?!!
Well Melanie after Angelina abruptly left TNA officials had to make some great changes and i believe they had to throw away ever idea that they had going into this match because Madison Rayne doesn’t bring one half of the in ring ability and look that Love did, so this match was just a filler, so have to agree with you on that,as the right team winning. I have to dissagree with you though on the idea that these titles will just be fillers to, quit jumping to conclusion have faith in the TNA Knockout Tag Team Titles. You are one who always says we need more female wrestling action and i fell that if TNA officails put together good wrestling teams this title will be okay look at wwe they have what Legacy, DX, Jericho and Big show and MVP and Henry that is four tag teams in a span of 3 diffrent shows, and they are making it work. TNA just has to create some sort of Tag Team that can compare with the charisma and agility that Sarita and Taylor have and they will be okay. Have them Feud with this Tag Team for awile and create a legitamate stroyline, as i said before and i will say again if Anglina love would not have been realeased, TNA would have it so much easier because TBP have many enemies and create controversy were ever they go and sadly Sarita and Taylor do not, but i say just give it time and we will see some great matches and storys with these titles.
