This week on Impact, the new Knockout Tag Team Champions, Taylor Wilde and Sarita take on Tara and the Knockouts Champion, ODB:

Taylor Wilde and Sarita’s entrance continues to rise many questions.  Is this an ode to Patrick Swayze’s rendition of Dirty Dancing?  Because I sense some major sexual tension between Taylor Wilde and Sarita in that entrance.  Is that the vibe they are going for?  If so, then they certainly hit the nail on the head: a lesbian couple in heat doing the tango.  All that jazz and strobe lights – I feel like I’m watching an anime.

In somewhat of a dream match up, Sarita and Tara square off at the start of the match.  As a show of respect, the two share a handshake.  The two lock up and Tara overpowers Sarita with a headlock and a takedown.  Sarita traps Tara between the legs with a headlock of her own.  Tara flips out of the move and covers Sarita, but Sarita bridges out of the pin attempt.  Tara attempts to counter the sunset flip, but misses the front dropkick.  Sarita also misses an elbow.  The two pause for a moment, but Tara goes back in with an arm lock.  Sarita rushes to the corner.  Tara catches her in what seems to be the makings of the Spider’s Web (fireman’s carry into a swinging sidewalk slam), but Sarita brilliantly counters that with a headscissors.

Taylor Wilde makes the tag and lands a diving crossbody from the top.  With an assist from Taylor, Sarita lands a moonsault onto Tara and Taylor capitalizes with a senton for the 2-count.  Meanwhile, the commentators banter about a piece of hair that has inconspiciously found its way into the center of the ring.  All signs point to Tara. (Hmm…did anyone check Slick Johnson?)  Tara grounds Taylor with a powerslam, but Taylor kicks out.  Tara tags in the Knockouts Champion.  ODB with a shot to the midsection, carries Taylor into the corner by the throat.  An assault ensues…

Meanwhile, Awesome Kong makes her way down the ramp, and she has her sights on Tara.  Tara takes the initiative to confront Awesome Kong, and Kong just takes it…I guess.

Back into the action in-ring, ODB covers Sarita, but only receives a 2-count.  ODB catches Sarita mid a crossbody endeavor, meanwhile Taylor Wilde makes a blind tag and takes both her partner and her opponent down with a missle dropkick.  Taylor bridges into a Jackknife pin only for a near fall.  Taylor tags in Sarita.  ODB dodges a double clothesline and takes both Knockouts down.  ODB covers Sarita, but Sarita kicks out rather fiercely.  ODB takes Sarita up for the fallaway slam, but Sarita rolls out and makes the hot tag.

Taylor Wilde braces ODB while Sarita nails a springboard dropkick.  Taylor picks up the win with a German Suplex pin.

Not a bad showing for the Tag Team Champions.  Certain people might object to the Knockouts Champion losing this bout, but considering the circumstance of what became a 2-on-1 match… I think it was acceptable.  Something tells me I’ll have to get used to seeing the new tag champs win – in a good way!  My only concern is the lack of tag competition in the division.  I’d like to see this rectified in a way other than just throwing strange bedfellows together in makeshift teams.  TNA gave us a tag title, now it must give us a tag division.

Backstage in the midst of an interview, Alissa Flash has a bone to pick with Lauren, and subsequently with Hamada.  Alissa’s acting is like night & day in comparison to Raisha Saeed… and not in a bad way either.  This dispute leads to Alissa attacking Hamada and tossing her down a flight of stairs.  Before the assault can go any further, the two are separated by TNA officials.  A face turn for Hamada?  Can’t say I immediately expected that.  A pretty hardcore moment between two very hardcore wrestlers.  This will definitely be a feud to look forward to.  I honestly just want to see both Hamada and Alissa Flash win matches for once.

Oh, and Daffney gets whored out backstage. Rather unfortunate. The elbow to Kevin Nash’s scrotum makes up for it, though.

  1. Great review. Alissa throwing Hamada down the steps was badass.

  2. I thought Hamada already was a face? And I’m letting Daffney’s “whoring out” slide as it was done to advance her and her Dr’s feud with Nash (as well as highlighting the valet search).

It was a pretty good match, but there’s still something about the impending full-blown Tara/Kong feud I don’t like.. Just can’t put my finger on it at the moment.

  3. Yeah that entrance had some major lady loving vibes going on, particularly from Sarita. Though it’s lesbianic, it’s not the Megan Fox kissing Amanda Seyfreid kind as their moves are still pretty cringe worthy. Funny thing is I don’t really like Taylor Wilde as a singles competitor just because compared to all the other Knockouts she doesn’t really stand out and is kind of their generic blonde girl (I know I’m probably in the minority on that one) but I like her teamed up with Sarita. They play well off each other and it’s makes Wilde more excitable as a grappler, nice choice for the first champions. The only thing I saw that was a problem was that it took them a while to set up that finisher at the end, Sarita needed to move a bit faster. But I can’t complain, it was still a great move and a really good match.

  4. They did have some serious lesbian vibes there. But, like rodney said, I like Taylor Wilde better when teamed with Sarita. She is a bit boring to me by herself. But then again, she hasn’t really had a lot of time on the mic.

I enjoyed the match, and I liked the way that they handled the two on one situation.

  5. Seriously? AGAIN with that hokey smoking tazer gun lol.

Anyways, I liked the tag match. It definitely does have an anime quality to it…almost Rumble Roses esque. However, the biggest thing I’m looking forward to is the Hamada and Alissa feud. That’s going to be amazing.

  6. I guess Hamada beating down Sojo after their tag tourney match could be considered heelish, then this would be a face turn.

Or….since last time Sojo got much TV time she was with the heel Kongtourage, the beatdown was faceish and this was a heel-beats-up-face incident.

Or….since I would much sooner see Hamada against Alissa Flash and not in a feud with Sojo (gods help us all), we can ignore alignment and just enjoy. :)

    Loving Saritaylor and the lez!yay.

  7. wow ODB had amazing pyro this week, was like a nuclear blast XD
does kong have a new hairstyle?

its been forever since kong and tara had any interaction yet they still have kong interupt in the matches
its anoying, if there in a rivalry then put them in a match, they keep dropping this and bringing it back when its convenient

hope hamada is ok that roll down the steps looked very painfull

  8. daffney really remindes me of jokers girlfriend harley quinn

  9. The Tagteam match was great, much better than the one at the PPV.

I’m also looking forward for the Alissa-Hamada feud. It was a great segment, but i didn’t really like the throw from the steps. Hamada had good control over the first roll, but the others were unpredictable and could easily have injured her. I get the feeling that TNA is a little bit too obsessed by making a “look how Hardcore our Knockouts are” statement. But i rather see them put on a good show inside the ring, without taking useless hardcore bumps.

  10. That Flash/Hamada segment was awesome. Hamada is crazy for taking that bump. Crazy talented and experienced but still what a big wow factor behind that one. The “tag” match was decent too. Between this and her match at the PPV, I’m coming around to liking ODB again, may she never cross paths with the Deaner ever again.

And thanks for removing the comment ratings. It’s a decent idea but you know how the crowd around here is. It’s always something.

  11. Flash/Hamada segment was amazing. I can’t wait to see where this goes.

  12. OMG,saritaylor are amazing together,i don’t see the whole lesbian thing most of you are talking about, there just friends dancing and gaving fun,if they ever kiss, then we can talk, lol

I loved this match,I’ve watched it like 10 times already on DVR,the ending is my favorite, that combination springboard into a german suplex attack is beyond brillant,it’s a perfect finisher for saritaylor. These 2 were a perfect choice for 1st champions, there chemistry is perfect,i just want them to face more legit teams, the beautiful people seem to be the only choice

the alissa flash-Hamada segment was amazing, all the stuff alissa was saying was so true “why dont I get an interview”,she’s so right, she’s the future legend, she deserves an interview but Hamada saying “win a match” was a total burn(I guess alissa beating cody deaner doesn’t mean poop),this is going to be an amazing fued.I loved this segment because it actaully felt real,it took place before the impact stadium was even set up,it was all dark and stuff so it didn’t feel scripted, this is going to be a dream fued,i like them both but i like alissa flash better so i hope she wins:D

  13. I Loved the Tag Team match!!
I have loved TaylorWilde ever since she debuted, unlike seemingly everyone else! lol
I Loved her with Roxxi and just a smidge less with Sarita.
Sadly I don’t think The segment between Alissa and Hamada wil lead to anthing other than a singles match. :( But i’d love to see it become a Monsters Ball match!! :D Maybe an Impact Main Event??!!??
And Daffney is freakin hardcore! To attack Kevin Nash?? FREAKIN A+++!! I <3 that woman!!

  14. also,IMO Alissa flash is like Beth phoenix of TNA,she’s just so big and Dominating and she wants to prove to everyone that she’s the best, they both also have a trademake quote when the announcer announces them to the ring,Beth Phoenix “the Glamazon”,”The future Legend” Alissa Flash

  15. I’d mark for a Flash/ Hamada match nevermind a storyline, but it’s going to be Hamada that comes out best from the storyline which I’m not a fan of.

However a good thing about Impact was the opening exchange between Vic and Sarita, it was very reminiscent of a spot of WWF Invasion where Jeff Hardy takes on Rob Van Dam. The match gave me a nostalgic feeling.

    Another good review Tiffany.

  16. I WANT ALISSA VS HAMADA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL can I mark out for that one? That is a dream match for me. And I feel as if I’m committing a huge DD sin by saying this; but I LOVE Nash’s voice and think he’s hot for an older guy (ducks evil glares and random thrown objects).

Daffney attacking him though? Priceless. You gotta love a woman who’s willing to take out a guy about 3 times her size!

  17. I agree that the pairing of Tara and ODB may seem random but they obviously did it to further the Kong and Tara feud. Which has been lame so far, a match between the two would be nice.

As for Sarita’s and Taylor’s newset version of their entrance it was sexy and fun but I miss the double bubble butt jump. Seeing as they are always hugging, holding hands and smacking each other on the kaboose the lesbian vibe is there. Will they actually play that angle out, prolly not. I am sure they are just friends having fun together. It is enjoyable for me to read more into it though I admit.

As for whoever said Sarita was slow, you have gotta be kidding me she is the fastest thing on two legs in TNA. She and Taylor pack more moves and action into a 10 minute match than many of the guys do in 20 minute ones. No one in TNA male or female can match her speed or althletic ability.

  18. When Hamada got thrown down those stairs, I winced. I actually winced!
    Alissa vs Hamada please?

Other than that, I can totally see ODB vs Tara vs Awesome Kong at Bound for Glory

  19. OK If Hamada was supposed to be Japanese why was she speaking Spanish?? Bit confused now…

  20. @Martin, because she is Mexican but she’s billed from Japan, she’s likely able to speak Japanese but TNA already have a mexican who can translate. That would save time and money in hiring a Japanese translator I’m guessing.

  21. Her full name is Ayako Valentina Hamada Villareal and she is half Mexican and half Japanese.

  22. @mahsitti – Cool thanks for the info :)

@steven_D – That makes sense too!!
