She is one of the most unique personalities in women’s wrestling. As a former WWE Diva, she was the vampiric Ariel and as a former TNA Knockout, she got in touch with her Latin roots as Salinas. But having left wrestling behind and looking forward to more acting projects, she is now simply Shelly Martinez and she’s ready to tell all!
After a whirlwind three years in the world’s top two wrestling companies, Shelly sits down with Diva Dirt‘s Tiffany for an exclusive two part interview discussing her time in WWE, TNA, her future in acting and her controversial stance on cannabis use.

In Part 2… Picking up exactly where part one left off, Shelly goes into full detail on her final months in WWE including the backstage blowout with former World Heavyweight Champion, Batista that led to her release. In part two, the main focus is on Shelly’s year in TNA Wrestling. Shelly discusses how she joined the company, talks about working in the Knockouts division compared to being a WWE Diva and clarifies what led to her TNA departure.

I loved how she stood up to Batista, he thinks he can speak to women that way and has no respect for women in professional wrestling and I think she is a class act for getting in his face and answering him back! What a brilliant interview!
September 27, 2009 at 10:27 pm
I couldn’t agree more with kerry246.
I’m interested in figuring out why Dave has no respect what-so-ever for women. It’s pathetic how even when a woman is telling him to explain why he’s acting a certain way, he acts like a teenage boy, and disrespects them.

That was a really awesome interview. Shelly sounds so genuine and nice. Im definately going to go back and watch some more ariel/salinas matches now. I hope shelly comes back to tna!

batistas a real douche bag, i always had a feeling he was eaven befor this interview
but anyway i like shelly i hope she comes back to TNA one day

Batista was acting like a little childish kid with a crush.
September 28, 2009 at 1:04 am
God, Batista is such a republican bad ass boy, sexy tatoos, amazing non-steroid-usin’ body, “strong personality”, he threats women like trash, he sounds and dresses like a cheap drug dealer, why wouldn’t people be attracet to him?? That’s beyond me…
September 28, 2009 at 1:05 am
*attracted

This interview gave me a new respect for Shelly. Good for her for standing up for herself and not allowing Batista to act like a spoiled child! She’s worked hard, and I wish her all the luck in whatever the future may bring.

@PedroPedroso17
I don’t understand why you felt the need to add that he’s a “republican bad ass boy” even if you were being sarcastic, I’m pretty sure he’s a democrat.
September 28, 2009 at 4:43 am
Republicans are the only men who treat women poorly.
Duh.
September 28, 2009 at 5:38 am
@Maxine
Are you being sarcastic or serious? I can’t tell. (I’m going to go with sarcastic though, if that’s the case then good one.)
September 28, 2009 at 5:55 am
Wow, Batista is truly an asshole.
I’m glad she spoke up and said what was on her mind, i guess someone had to hurt his ego lol. I enjoyed it, she seems very down to earth and funny. I’d like to see her again in TNA when the time is right for her.
September 28, 2009 at 5:57 am
Batista is really an animal. Like he doesn’t have any respect for women if any more divas date him are just stupid period.
I’m happy that Shelly stood up for herself but she lost her job because of it.

Its interesting to get an insight as to how the WWE political world works, especially when it comes to lower and midcard performers (ie our Divas), it seems like the ‘Shut up, put up’ attitude rumours ring true and its unfortunate. WWE needs an overhaul in their Human resources dept, because not only are they losing talent but their also damaging the product. Theres nothing worse for a fan than investing your energy into a character or wrestler only to have them dissapear off the radar altogether due to ‘backstage issues’.
September 28, 2009 at 4:21 pm
Totally serious. Republicans are the only men who ever act like assholes to women. It’s just a fact.
(read: very sarcastic
)
September 28, 2009 at 10:33 pm
Amen to that, I’m pretty sure he’s a republican, shit people always are, no offense…
September 29, 2009 at 12:18 am
@PedroPedroso17
No I don’t think he is, he was at last years Democratic Convention with Candice and Shelton Benjamin.
September 29, 2009 at 12:36 am
@astrozombie – Oh well, there’s bastards for every political party, he still looks like he voted for Bush…
September 29, 2009 at 1:22 am
exactlyy, PedroPedroso17! they just send “the most popular superstars” to the conventions to “show their support”. i don’t fall for it.
September 29, 2009 at 2:54 am
Another thing I wanted to say is that it sucks that she’ll never work for WWE again because I wanted to see her and Melina/Beth work together on WWE TV. Batista had to mess it up for everyone..the culero.
September 29, 2009 at 8:41 am
@futuretnaknockout.
What is there not to fall for? I’d hardly think it’s an act especially since Linda McMahon is running for Senate. Besides even if they were doing it to show their support, I doubt they’d send someone whose on a certain end of the political spectrum to the opposite political parties’ convention.
@PedroPedroso
How does he look like he voted for Bush? That’s a judgemental statement to make. Don’t get me wrong, I’m no fan of Batista nor am I a republican for that matter, but you’re judging a book by its cover.
September 29, 2009 at 12:01 pm
As for the interview itself, I thought you did an amazing job Tiff. I have to say though, I have a lot of respect for Batista, I think I just found my new favorite superstar /sarcasm… or is it?
I’d like to call myself a Tiffany mark! I <3 Tiffany! I want more Tiffany!
October 5, 2009 at 6:56 pm
wow! dave is a huge douche bag i love shelly and if he is the reason she left then i suddenly hate batista
