Less than 24 hours since her TNA debut, new Knockout Lacey Von Erich has already become embroiled in controversy. Her comments on her Beautiful People predecessor, Angelina Love in an interview with the Miami Herald have been major news today. Taking to her Twitter to comment on the situation, Lacey writes:
I hope everyone enjoyed the show last night! Angelina Love was amazing in the beautiful people and I hope I do it justice!
P.S. Don’t believe rumors! I think Angelina will be missed in TNA and hope we can work together someday!
I’m not sure how they can be considered ‘rumours’, when the comments were a direct quote from her in an interview. Unless of course, the quote was completely fabricated by the author of the Miami Herald article, which would be completely unfathomable to me. I truly hope that isn’t the case, because fabricating comments from someone is just low and one would think TNA and Lacey could sue.
That said, I don’t personally believe that to be the case and it seems as though damage control is being done after the fact.
EDIT: Jason Powell of ProWrestling.net is now reporting that TNA management were unhappy with Von Erich’s comments and have forced her to call and apologise to Angelina.

(Sorry Mel if this is to strong but) it serves her ass right! She put Angel on blast in a PUBLIC forum I’m with you though Mel, how can they be rumors when it came straight from her?! As for making the quote up, I do not for a moment of one second think it was a made up quote.
What do you think (if anything) TNA will do going forward besides forcing her to call to apologize?
It seems as though she/TNA is trying to cover her tracks, I don’t see what a reputable paper would gain from “fabricating” it. Maybe she had gotten some heat from it, serves her right for “blasting” Love I guess.
She would be gone in no time, unless she get with Kurt. I just didn’t like her comment about Angelina at all.
If you ask me, this is a LOSE/LOSE situation!
Funny how apologizing to a supposedly(from some vague sources)not so well liked and now former employee is such a priority.Unless that’s mostly erroneous and she’s also a future employee(which TNA should like,if it can be pulled off.) Angel always had an acceptable rep far as I know. She certainly handled her injuries with class, without finger pointing.Even stayed friendly with Taylor right after her last one.And really, how does any of it concern Lacey anyway?
Lacey comes off as being well……..really unintelligent. And perhaps somewhat flaky. This chick is seemingly more sideshow act and bubblehead than anything wrestling related.
That wasn’t a good but it could be a possibility that TNA wanted her to say that
WOW! Strike two in less then 24 hours, who would have though? Oh that‘s right, ME! TNA Wrestling save yourself the embarrassment and fire Lacey Von Erich before you invest too much money and TV time on her. Then pay for Angelina Love to receive another work visa and bring her in and have her “fire” Madison Rayne and Velvet Sky from the Beautiful People, and bring in Amber O’Neal and Krissy Vaine and go with a new storyline the newly face Beautiful People (Love/O’Neal/Vaine) vs. the newly heel team Mi Pi Sexy (Velvet Sky/Madison Rayne)!
Damn, I thought for sure it was just her staying in character. That’s nuts that she appears to have actually gotten her foot legitimately stuck in her throat there on her first day of work. I wonder how this will go over with Velvet, considering her and Angelina are real life bffs.
“Lacey comes off as being well……..really unintelligent.”
That might be a little bit unfair to her. I think it’s more a combination of unexperience and excitement. This was her first show for national tv so obviously a lot of people wanted to talk to her about it in interviews, so its easy to make a mistake and say something you later regret.
Or…maybe she was telling the truth and the people backstage really dont miss Angelina and was forced to adjust her comment ;-)
Honestly,I don’t think it’s unfair.Save maybe from TNA for placing her in a position she’s not ready for.
I think the ones being short sheeted here are Madison and especially Velvet. They weren’t even given any opportunity to keep the act going on their own before being saddled with a known non talent.
TNAFan80 that would be ACE! I’m glad that TNA has pointed out the mistake to von Erich and is trying to fix the problem. Lacey should be given a little PR 101 though, because her tweeted apology is giving off mixed signals. She could have said something along the lines of her getting to far into character.
Hopefully this, coupled with Jennagate will remind TNA why experience matters.
It would be interesting to see Angelina’s opinion about that story.
I tend not to read too much into what the dirtsheets have to say. First they claim Angelina Love wasn’t popular backstage BUT now they’re asking Lacey Von Erich to apologise to her for making those comments? Something clearly doesn’t add up, there.
Assuming it is a work it’ll be a good basis for Love’s (hopefully) eventual comeback. I can see her initially returning HUGELY over as a face, eventually returning to becoming a heel.
LVE might be OK as a valet to interfere but please keep her ringtime to a bare minimum. WWE cut her for the same reason they cut Rhaka Khan, they saw no potential in her. TNA stupidly hires both of them, though Khan’s time in TNA appears to be over soon.
NT86: Are you refering to LVE’s comments of Angelina not being popular backstage in TNA?
NT86: according to rumors, Lacey asked to be released from WWE.
this whole thing is really quite ridiculous and has left a terrible taste in my mouth.
not only does she need wrestling training, but pr training too? i actually do believe miss jenna morasca was a more valuable asset. and that’s a crying shame.
“according to rumors, Lacey asked to be released from WWE”
There are 2 versions of that story. Lacey’s version who says she quit so she could spent more time with her son. And the version of some of her (former) colleges who say she was released because she was just too lazy to improve herself. But like most things in wrestling, its all speculation for us, we will probably never know the real truth.
Lacey admits that she quit going to practice. I’m sure they did view her as being lazy since she was missing training sessions, but she was doing it to be with her son.
OMG,just leave lacey alone, you people don’t know her. She’s new to TV so she probably had a lot of pressure on her and got tongue tied, look at her twitter, she apologized to angelina so she really is sorry, people tend to mix up words to create a buzz in the wrestling world, the same thing has happened to john cena and many others, just leave her alone and stop bashing her,she doesn’t deserve this people
rkoyou such a mark. ‘leave her aloneeeeeeeee’ divadirts own chris crocker. gtfo u big mark. she fucked the hell up bt ur such a mark u have to defend her to the death.
RKOyou, people are entitled to their opinions. We’re commenting on her lack of industry savvy.
I knew it wouldn’t be long before people dubbed her as “unintelligent”, etc, etc because they can’t see past the blonde hair and the beauty.
The comments to me were not unintelligent, but rather coming from a girl who has wrestled sporadically on the Indies for just 2 years on and off and is suddenly thrust right into the spotlight in a big promotion like TNA and I feel it came from inexperience and being naive to how to conduct yourself when part of a big promotion.
I feel it was also out of a womans natural competitive nature with other women – she knows deep down Angelina was the “leader” of TBP and very popular, well known and respected by fans so in trying being a competitive female she criticised her to make herself feel better, thats what a lot of women do.
In certain other cases,I am sympathic to the anti-blonde unfairness pov.IOW,I do think the net,on average, can take a more critical look at women who have light tresses. In this case though,it’s hard to see how LVE doesn’t bear responsibility for her words or the lack of good sense in saying them when she did. You shouldn’t have to be particulary experienced to figure out that slagging someone whose resume in the field is far stronger than yours right after you get hired for a job you are far from the most qualified person(or even most most qualified blonde) for isn’t a good idea.Sides, her lack of experience is largely by her choice. As is taking the TNA job. (Though TNA is primarily to blame in the latter case.)
Only way I could see an out for her words is if the whole thing is a work.
