Looks like WWE’s televised training camp, ECW has scored the services of another green newcomer in ring announcer Lauren Mayhew. Once tipped to be the new voice of SmackDown, it seems as though WWE has opted to put Lauren on the third [forgotten & least watched] brand, perhaps to avoid any flubs on the two major shows.

Surely a disappointing downgrade for Lauren, but not even Lilian Garcia started out that great. There’s always a chance to be promoted back to SmackDown, once she shows progression and comfortability in her new role on ECW. For those curious to see her announcing, watch the start of this video:

Also on last night’s ECW, General Manager Tiffany returned after her kayfabe car crash. I don’t watch ECW and haven’t watched Tiffany cut a promo since her first night as GM, so I was interested to see how she’s progressed. Though better from her first outing, she still sounds like a cardboard cut-out reading from a non-existent teleprompter. I guess she just has one of those voices, in fact I thought Lauren sounded more at ease on the microphone — though to Tiffany’s defense, Lauren has past hosting experience so mic work  would come easier.

  1. That chick was HORRIBLE. It sounded like a kid stole the mic!!

  2. Honestly, I expected worse. Lilian had a much more cringe-worthy start imo. Lauren can only get better from here on out (hopefully).

  3. Yikes…she has terrible cadence. Hopefully she’ll improve.

  4. Let’s give the girl a chance. People are probably automatically going to dislike her voice just because she isn’t Lillian. It takes a bit of getting used to whenever there’s a new announcer. It was so weird and uncomfortable hearing Lillian doing that job at first! But we’ll all get used to it soon and I’m sure she’ll do really well.

  5. She Will Defo Get Btter I Know She Will, People Shuld Just Give Her A Chance, Just Like They Should Give Lacey A Chance.

  6. I don’t think she sounds too bad, she’ll get better with time. At least she’s not screechy and annoying.

  7. Like with any new job, she has to find her feet and get into the new role. It’s something we all have to do when starting a new job and we’re not all going to be the best straight away.

  8. I thought she did good, with a little more experience she will sound a bit more natural but I liked her voice.

  9. They should have had Lauren shadow Lillian instead of Justin Roberts. Her voice sounds a little too growly, and she’s trying to accentuate certain names & words in a similar style to Justin, which doesn’t work. I know she’ll get better with time, but right now I’m not feeling it. I’m not down with her voice.

What was annoying was the production truck trying to avoid any camera shot that would show her announcing. During the main event introduction, it was like watching the DX titantron.
