So I woke up this morninMg and wondered, “Did last night really happen?” A brief moment later, after rubbing the sleep out of my eyes, I realised no, I wasn’t in some parallel universe or WWE’s beloved Bizzaro World. Last night did happen. Jillian the Jobber really did win a major championship. Melina really did return to Raw. Mickie James really did get traded to SmackDown. On top of all that, Raw ‘guest correspondent’, Maria Menounos got in the ring and wrestled — and looked better than the real Maria!

Watch the craziness unfold, all over again:

Divas Championship Matches
So apparently title opportunities are no longer earned as Jillian, who has a larger loss record than Paris Hilton has sexual conquests, is handed a title shot. For the record, I absolutely hate title shots that are just handed out. But after Kelly, Mickie, Beth, Gail & even Alicia Fox were given Divas Title shots on Raw this year, it only seems right that Jillian gets one too, right?

Honestly, though as short as it was, I enjoyed the work between Jillian and Mickie. Jillian proves here just what a great worker she is, able to have a nice, kind of fast paced exchange with Mickie. We start with a lockup which goes into a headlock, Mickie throws Jillian against the ropes and goes for a hip toss but Jillian nicely counters into a monkey flip. Mickie sells it oddly, which is covered up as a ‘counter’, getting on her feet & charges at Jillian with a Thesz press. Mickie with a dropkick & pin attempt. She then sets up the tornado DDT but Jillian counters and goes for her facebuster, but Mickie manages to block it and goes for a flip into a pin. Mickie kicks Jillian and throws her into the corner, Mickie launches at Jillian, she ducks and Mickie ends up climbing the ropes. Jillian hits a powerbomb, goes for a pin using the ropes for a leg-up and gets the win. Jillian is the new Divas Champion!

Incredibly short, but I enjoyed the little work that we did see and would’ve liked it to be a little longer. These two work well together and are able to go from one move to another seamlessly without the awkward moments that usually linger in Mickie matches. Good effort, I’d say. Rushed finish which is explained by what’s to come…

So Jillian celebrates her title win with a rendition of my favourite Lady Gaga song, ‘Paparazzi’ and messes up the lyrics. [Yes, I paid attention!] Nancy O’Dell, who sounds kind of annoying if you ask me, interrupts and announces that Jillian will defend the title right now against Raw’s newest acquisition, Melina!

This here, was PRICELESS. Jillian realises what we all realise: her title reign is about to be cut incredibly short. Her acting here was pure genius, the facial expressions, the amazing way she clinged onto the belt as the match was about to start. “It’s mine! Please, it’s mine…” The comedic acting was perfection! And the way her head kinda sank when Justin Roberts took the belt, a little “Aww” moment. Seriously, the acting here was so good.

So it’s time for Melina vs Jillian, and you just knew this was going to be short as hell. Melina almost instantly goes for the leg-split drop but it’s botched by Jillian, who goes down too early. Melina doesn’t quite know what to do but mounts Jillian, I guess they were having a little impromptu pow-wow here with Melina telling her to go into another finish. The set up into the Last Call was a little awkward, though understandable due to it being impromptu. Melina hits it and becomes the Divas Champion.

I really appreciate the work ethic here, yes the match was so short and incredibly botched but the fact Melina showed a cool, collectedness and an ability to think on the spot proves just why I think she should be WWE’s new top Diva. Showing initiative and opting to go for a second finish rather than pinning her on a botched leg-spit drop was a good move. In comparison, Mickie in that match with Gail… A world of difference. Melina showed initiative and handled the situation and it was nicely done given the unfortunate circumstance.

I also want to point attention to Melina’s reaction after the match. This girl is really sweet in real life and very emotional at times and that often comes across on TV too. Melina and Jillian are really great friends and you have to think that it was bittersweet for her to pin her friend, who I’m sure she would want to be champion too. After pinning her, she sort of looked at Jillian a little sadly, and again looked down at her sort of “I’m sorry” as her hand was being raised. At the end of the clip, you’ll also see her saying “I’m sorry,” more in character this time, but still not consistent with her role as a babyface. If you’d just won the title, you’d be flaunting it in your opponent’s face. For Melina, I think her some of her real personality & her real emotional nature came across and I thought it was really sweet. Looking at some of the comments being made towards Melina, I don’t know how one can be pissed off at or ‘hate’ someone who doesn’t even make the decisions; it’s as though the girl booked herself to be the champion.

More after the cut:

Jillian’s Title Reign
WWE’s overcomplicated, awful booking has been somewhat present in the main title picture [Randy Orton beating John Cena for the WWE Title just 3 weeks after he won it; Batista winning title when injured; Morrison winning IC Title instead of Ziggler when Mysterio got busted] and now it looks as though that ‘unpredictable’ and frankly, shitty booking has extended itself to the Divas. Rather than doing something logical like having Mickie drop the title to Alicia Fox on her way out, they opt to do a random transition between Mickie and Melina by way of Jillian. I think it would be far more sensical to have Mickie drop the title to Alicia, which would elevate a new Diva in the process, and then have Melina come in and feud with Alicia. But as with all things WWE, when the fuck have they ever made sense?!

Jillian’s title reign is essentially worthless. It goes in the history books, but it shouldn’t be there. As I said on the post-Raw Roundtable, Jillian was just a transitional device between Mickie and Melina without one jobbing out completely to the other as they are expected to be the top babyfaces of their respective brands. It serves no one to have Mickie job to Melina directly, or Melina to Mickie directly. Jillian gets to boast that she has held a title, which is far more than she could ever expect. Under real circumstances, Jillian would never, ever [and will never, ever] be a champion in WWE. Sad as it is, it’s the truth. The fact they put the title on her, for however brief it was, was more than she could ever hope for in her WWE career. Why did they choose Jillian? Because she’s Jillian the Jobber… her career is shot anyway, of course you’d job her out in 2 seconds flat in a title match. The fact that she used the ropes in her match with Mickie also gets them out of that predicament that the resident jobber pinned the top Diva. Jillian can say she has been a champion and I think WWE maybe to some extent, gave her a bit of a ‘rub’ in that sense in their own twisted way, recognising her work as a veteran but in the longterm, she’s a jobber to the stars.

Maria Menounos Steps Into the Ring
As well as the Divas Championship situation, Raw’s guest correspondent [glorified backstage interviewer] Maria Menounos stepped into the ring in a six Diva tag team match. She, as all female guest hosts seem to do, crossed paths with Beth Phoenix leading to a match. It would be Maria, Kelly Kelly & Gail Kim [both of whom seem to be off the injured list] taking on Beth Phoenix, Alicia Fox & Rosa Mendes in the Phoenix & Mendes’ final match on Raw.

So in her first and possibly only wrestling match, Maria looked the part of a wrestler, perhaps even more so than some of the current Divas. One point to you, Maria.

The match starts off with two of my favourite Divas, Gail Kim who at this point, is becoming Kelly’s shadow — heel turn STAT!] and Alicia Fox. Gail goes for a rollup straightaway, Alicia kicks out and Gail goes for a forearm followed by an arm wrench before tagging out to Maria Menounos. Maria & Gail throw Alicia against the ropes and hit her with a double-elbow. Maria hits two hair tosses, looking confident very confident and believable in the ring, plus Alicia is probably one of the best sellers amongst the Divas so that helps. Alicia picks up Maria and tries to take her to her team’s corner but Maria hits a decent sunset flip but Alicia kicks out. Alicia kicks Maria and drags her to her corner where she tags in the Glamazon, Beth Phoenix.

The intimidating Glamazon gets in Maria’s face, screaming at her but gets kicked square in the knee which takes her down to the canvas. Gee, I wonder why the actual Divas never think of doing that… Maria then shows off her acting ability, showing herself to be a hesitant newcomer in the ring, by looking at her teammates and wondering what to do next. I thought that was a nice touch, as it comes across as a bit of a fluke rather than out-and-out burying the real Divas. Maria slaps Beth and tags out to Kelly.

Kelly launches at Beth for a whirly bird but Beth catches her and goes for a spin into a backbreaker. Beth throws Kelly into the corner and tags in Rosa. Oh boy, this could be a trainwreck. Kelly with a kick to Rosa and then forearms, before throwing her into the corner. Kelly hits a handspring butt-bump? Rosa with a drop toe-hold on Rosa, Kelly’s neck over the middle rope. Rosa knocks Gail off the apron but not Maria, who guillotines her over the top rope. This allows Kelly to hit her step-up legdrop which always looks good, if you ask me. Team Maria gets the win! Not a great way to leave Raw for Beth & Rosa, but I guess a whole change of brand could be a good thing for Beth, they could just not mention this at all.

I thought Maria looked good in the ring, what she did was limited but she had a good ring presence, perhaps more so than the ‘real’ Maria. I would be ever so curious to see what she could be like if she joined WWE and got in even more training. Good job!

So that’s your lot for Raw this week, a complete mind-fuck, I’m sure you’ll agree. Raw will have a totally different landscape next week, so it should be an interesting Redux to write. I still don’t think all of this has sunk in.

  1. Even the stroyline is all fucked up, I loved the show. At least WWE cares to do something to Divas right?

  2. I mean no offense, but you sound like Melina is the second coming.

I know it’s your opinion but this is mine. You say about ”that” match with Mickie & Gail. Was Jillian unconscious? Did she have a concussion? Did Melina botch two finishers?

This is like comparing apples to oranges. The difference is huge. Jillian and Melina had a chance to discuss, which was painfully obvious.

God, I really hate the way people can’t admit that their favourite wrestler made a mistake. I think it’s plain stupid.

”Looking at some of the comments being made towards Melina, I don’t know how one can be pissed off at or ‘hate’ someone who doesn’t even make the decisions; it’s as though the girl booked herself to be the champion.”

I don’t think your comments provoked these comments tbh.
    ”Happy now, Jillian fans?”
People just wanted Jillian to actually have a week as champion, but Melina may as well NEVER lose this belt, because she’ll win in back the next week or even night…
    Typical.

  3. I wasn’t comparing the matches, I was comparing Mickie’s reaction to Melina’s reaction. They both had to deal with a shitty situation and one handled it far better than the other.

No offence to you, but you just come across as bitter.

  4. I may be a Melina fan, but it doesn’t negate the fact that I think Melina handled her botching situation better. Maybe she learned from Mickie’s mistakes, I dunno.

Both were ugly situations, but at least Melina went for an actual finisher and nailed it before capping off the match. Mickie just went for a kick that didn’t even connect, and still made the pin. I know Gail was knocked loopy and you have to be careful in those situations, but there were so many different ways to end the match better than she did.

That said, neither should be botching moves they’ve been doing for years now.

  5. God, I really hate the way people can’t admit that their favourite wrestler made a mistake. I think it’s plain stupid…

”Looking at some of the comments being made towards Melina, I don’t know how one can be pissed off at or ‘hate’ someone who doesn’t even make the decisions; it’s as though the girl booked herself to be the champion.”

Thank You Paul Devin I agree with u 110%

  6. Yeah, I didn’t get a Melina fangirl vibe from this. Mickie is my girl because I feel she was someone who kind of spearheaded real women’s wrestling and she’s a great rolel model. That being said these past few months have not been her best, I feel she has botten comfortable. Her last two PPV matches could have both been on Raw. Melina however, has been showing out for a while, pulling out new moves and turning her face run into something special. I never thought I’d like her as a face but she’s great and I think she has surpassed Mickie in the top babyface division and I’m glad she’s on Raw. The only move I don’t like is Beth to Smackdown, just doesn’t sit right with me for some reason. I also do feel bad for Jillian, I mean, she’s out there for two seconds and she not only loses her title, but horrible botches while doing so. You could totally tell they talked it over when Melina was just kind of on top of Jillian haha, nice save though.

  7. FYI, Melina isn’t even my favourite Diva… There’s a difference between recognising and appreciating someone for their work & them being your favourite Diva.

  8. i am not bitter, but more annoyed at the fact WWE can’t do something new except:

    Melina winning a Title &
    Mickie vs Beth.

I was so relieved when I heard Beth went to SD! but now, Mickie is too…

I don’t understand why they didn’t give it to Alicia, she deserves a title more, and well, I think that was better than a 2 minute match, and then a botchfest, which was Jillian’s fault, but I cannot blame here.

If I were here, I would leave for TNA, that way, she could get a push, since she wouldn’t have to move about, and see her daughters.

    WWE puzzles me.

  9. Goodnightddtmnm – Yeah, I hate it too. What’s your point? Where is Melanie refusing to admit that her favorite (who I guess you assume is Melina) made a mistake? Where did she gloss over it? She said that Jillian fell down, which she did, and Melina moved on to another finish. What could she say to satisfy you, that Melina caused the botch? Because from what I saw, she didn’t.

In fact, I hate that I often, when reviewing matches, feel obligated to examine Melina closer than anyone else and feel like if I don’t point out a fault, I’ll get accused of favoring her. If I gave that kind of close, nit-picking attention to anyone else, I’d be accused of bashing. You can’t win.

  10. I didnt get a Melina ‘fangirl’ vibe off this at all, infact if anything Melina deserves credit where its due and it was definitely due last night. NOONE could have predicted what would happen on Raw last night so to throw shade anyones way is a little ridiculous. Alicia isnt ready for the title yet, yes she’s hot property but she literally has no character, and expecting her to carry the division is unrealistic. I feel bad for Jillian fans, because this will probably be the closest she’ll get to a title reign in the WWE, and as Melanie said it was almost like a sick twisted way of the WWE saying ‘Hey thanks for all that jobbing youve done, heres some gold for a bit’. It wont ruin her reputation because she literally has none to begin with. Funnily enough nights like this are why being a Diva fan is so worthwhile, once in a blue you get a WTF moment that keeps you tuning back for more,

  11. This is a real fact, Melina sold the bad situation pretty good. Much better then Mickie. I’m not saying that that KimJames match wasn’t scary, the whole thing was messy, I’m not calling Mickie unprofessional or something, we all know that she’s capable of doing amazing in the ring. BUT, apart from that, she didn’t make that good of a showing, she could’ve go for another Mick Kick, or somethin’ like that, again, I know it’s a scary situation to be involved in, but, again, Melina knew what to do and she did it well!

By the way, Erin, in my view, Jillian [my favourite diva] was the one that botched Melina’s finisher, she went down to quickly, what can I say…it happens to the best of them…I did agree with your comment tho! <3

"FYI, Melina isn’t even my favourite Diva… There’s a difference between recognising and appreciating someone for their work & them being your favourite Diva."

  12. “If I were here, I would leave for TNA, that way, she could get a push”

People keep saying that WWE Divas should leave WWE and move to TNA, with the excuus they will get a push there. But why would TNA want Jillian? Unlike Victoria she isnt a big star, doesnt have a big fanbase outside the IWC and doesnt have the model look. The casual fan only knows her from jobbing and singing. So if TNA would hire her she will end up in the same categorie as Cheerleader Melissa and Daffney, and that is to make other people look good. And if she is going to job, she might as well do it in WWE where she gets payed a LOT more.

  13. melanie-after Jillian powerbombed mickie, mickie was knocked out totally,Jillian didn’t even need to use the ropes, ropes or no ropes,Jillian would have beaten mickie anyway as shocking as it might me

Jillian winning was a great moment for me,she maybe a jobber but thats WWE’s fault, they turned into a jobber,Jillian is not only a veteran in WWE but also in wrestling overall.Jillian has been wrestling for over 10 years and she has won over 12 championships outside WWE,now 13.Jillian can do a 450 splash, theres not one other diva on the roster show can do that

Jillians divas title win was 100% deserving, she may have only been champion for 10 minutes but WWE did give her the title because WWE knows she can work unlike some other divas

  14. Why would Jillian want to move to TNA? Sure she is probably unhappy with her character and may be swallowing a bitter little pill about it, she must appreciate the wwe paycheck. Gail was at the top of her promotion when she understandably left for more paper. Jillian is probably getting papercuts from counting her cash while we type these messages.

  15. Botchwise, to me, it looked to be on Melina’s part. Jillian was off balance bent backward and Melina unwrapped her arm from her neck. I’m pretty sure she usually leaves her arm round them supporting them until she hits it, not before. BUT nevertheless, it is totally forgettable, and agreed with how well both recovered from that, especially compared to Mickie/Gail.

Really proud of Maria M – I still have no idea who she is, but even prouder of Alicia being able to make such an unexperienced faux-diva look pretty decent. I mean, Rosa couldn’t even make Mickie or Beth look good and that’s bad.

I’m still in a state of shock, I think, lol. Which is almost pathetic, but I’m sure I’ll be used to all the changes soon enough. There’s some possible great feuds being aligned with the draft, others not so much. Hopefully whatever happens next is great.

Jillian didn’t actually get the “RAW” end of the deal, that award has to go to Katie Lea.

  16. dont know if anyone esle noticed but wasit me or were Mickies eyes puffed in the match? as if shewere crying or something before she came out..could be because she was told she was apprently “fat”! grr

WWE how low can you go????

This is what i do not like with WWE! they do not respect the way divas have sweat blood and tears to get to where they are today!!! WWE please appreciate Mickie. she has done a lot for the company, be grateful, dont put her down over a minor weight issue. after all she isnt the size of visera!!!!

  17. Omg i can’t get over RAW it was so weird..

Jillian actually won a match! i don’t care if she lost the title SHE WON a match so her losing streak stops!

yey , jillian did a boob reduction and now the lips have to be a tad smaller and we have the good ol’jillian back.

  18. I like Melina, really I do, but damn the girl gets overrated to hell and back sometimes.

  19. Wow. I think Melina is my favourite. I love how she obviously felt bad for Jillian and just couldnt hide it.

  20. Melina is a little over rated but she has actually worked hard to get to where she’s at, unlike Kelly Kelly, who is so over rated. I love Melina she is my favorite diva, but I wanted Jillian to keep the belt a little longer. Hey at least Jillian won the belt!!! I want to see a Jillian vs Melina feud. The botch looked liked it was Jillian who messed up, because she felt.

  21. .mch ur idea of a good diva is candice so shut the fuck up

  22. “So apparently title opportunities are no longer earned, as Jillian…”

I’m sorry, I love this site (to the extent where I’ve donated money) and respect the opinions, but I can’t swallow that.

You question if Jillian earned it?
Yet Melina shows up randomly and automatically gets a shot, no questions asked?
    Double standards, much.

By this logic, I’m assuming every traded diva will be entitled to a shot at their brand’s respective championship?

  23. Michael — You haven’t understood. What I meant by that is in terms of storyline. I believe there should be #1 Contenders matches to earn title shots. In terms of ability, of course Jillian deserves an opportunity. But in kayfabe, she hasn’t ‘earned’ a title shot by winning a #1 Contenders match. The Melina title shot was explained as Nancy O’Dell giving it to her.

  24. Melanie – I guess I understand your point, given that Jillian’s match wasn’t given any context.

I just think she was as entitled to a shot as Melina was, but I get that you weren’t making an opposing point to that now.

  25. To Melanie. I usually agree with almost everything you say and find you to be a most articulate and well informed wrestling jornalist. I have been reading Diva Dirt for about a year now and have never felt the need to post a comment until now. The way you just spoke about Jillian is very harsh and unbelivably bitchy
“Jillian’s title reign is essentially worthless. It goes in the history books, but it shouldn’t be there”

“Jillian gets to boast that she has held a title, which is far more than she could ever expect. Under real circumstances, Jillian would never, ever [and will never, ever] be a champion in WWE. Sad as it is, it’s the truth. The fact they put the title on her, for however brief it was, was more than she could ever hope for in her WWE career. Why did they choose Jillian? How can you speak about a veteran and a woman who has done a lot more for women’s wrestling than most in the WWE. I agree that she’s never been utilsed and while you may be accurate when you call her a jobber i think you fail to giver her the credit she is due. Jillian has without question the best promo and mic skills of any diva. She is absolutely hillarious at times and does play a great heel. The few oppurtunities that WWE have given her we have seen that she is a great worker and can do acrobatic moves that most men on the roster can’t do. The only thing she doesn’t have is “model looks”. Not that she is not pretty but compared to the likes of Maryse and Kelly she doesn’t stand out. And that’s pretty much her only fault. But WWE havwe never given her a push. Like ever. If i recall correctly this is her only championship match since she’s been a part of the main roster. 1 oppurtunity in 4 years!
Yes i am a huge Jillian fan and she is my favourite diva and i am frustrated that she was used in this way but your comments made my blood boil. I think you showed a lack of respect for one of the few talented diva’s the WWE has left

  26. Seriously, people need to lay off of Melina already!@ Paul Devlin-Hells yeah Melina is the second coming! When was the last time a diva got this great in such a short amount of time?Oh yeah,Candice, who did great by the way.Jillian deserved that, even if it only lasted a few minutes,at least it was something.I wanted her to keep the title as well as many of you,but I’m still going to defend my girl to the end.All of this hating has to stop,Melina’s earned her spot as top diva, and there aint’ no chance in hell that I’m going to let this go on.

Also, lay off the writers. You constantly say you “love” the site, but as soon as they state something you don’t like or support, the claws come out.Read what they have to say first, and then state your opinion in a respectable way.Don’t say you “love” the site if your going to attack them later on.Sheesh.

And for the future haters who might respond to this, you best believe I was marking out big time for my girl Melina,so deal with it!MELINA FTW!!!

  27. mercury2001-I somewhat agree,but then I think about it and realize,that wasn’t harsh,just the truth,and the truth hurts, a lot.BUT,I always have hope for a Jillian push.d^-^b

  28. Watching the clip of the match I was distracted by those 2 fat ugly brunette women in the audience you could see having a bitch-fit when Jillian won the belt – then bouncing up and down and clapping like they had won the Lottery when Melina won the belt. You can just tell their the type of women who believe Jillian to be “just another big boobed blonde” – well I hope she proves the like of them wrong and gets the glory she so rightfully deserves as soon as possible.

  29. mercury2001 — My intention wasn’t to be disrespectful, but to explain the situation from the way WWE sees it, I guess you haven’t understood. I have the utmost respect for Jillian and would one day love for her to hold a major championship under the right circumstances but I am realistic, truthful and bluntly honest. It likely will never happen & she is but a jobber to the Divas that WWE sees as stars: Melina, Mickie, Kelly etc. That paragraph doesn’t reflect my personal opinion of Jillian, rather my realistic take on the situation.

  30. @peteypaolo: Yes, I like Candice, but in no ways did I ever think she was an amazing wrestler or ever put her above any of the other top talents so you shut the fuck up you worthless piece of shit. :)

  31. I agree with Paul Devlin here. It sounds like you guys are comparing what each Diva (Mickie & Melina)did in the situation. Gail couldn’t do much cause she was pretty much out of it. Melina and Jillian were not out of it and could communicate *which was plainly obvious anyways*. We shouldn’t be praising Melina just because she asked Jillian to take another finisher, I mean Melina has done it before they just didn’t air it on Smackdown. Also anyone with a brain would know that would have been a horrible finish if Melina had pinned Jillian with a botched finisher. You shouldn’t be praising Melina for using some common sense.

They made a mistake, lets not praise them for it, Instead lets do like we did when it happened to Mickie & Gail. Point fingers and say how horrible it was :D…. just saying, B****ing about someone, but when it comes to our favorites lets praise them for fixing the problem — i don’t think it should work like that IMHO.

*hopes this comment doesn’t get deleted as well*

  32. When I saw Jillian win the title I was like “WTFrench Toast this is AWESOME” but in the back of my mind I was like, something is going to go down tonight and she is going to lose that title. And low and behold she did to Melina. I agree with Melanie’s prediction of Melina being the new top diva, but it is one of those wins that leaves a bitter taste in your mouth. The title was given to her on a silver platter, and that makes this title win seem weak to me. I hope that this results in Jillian getting an actual run at the title and a decent feud.
I’m not going to lie…when Jillian was saying “It’s mine! Please, it’s mine…” I wanted to cry a little. (anyone call me a wuss and I will bite u :-P)

  33. Pedro — Interesting take, but I wouldn’t make assumptions about what people did or didn’t do or tell people what they should be doing. I can recall, and you’ll likely find it in text in our archives, being sympathetic towards Mickie & Gail in their situation just as I was here.

And for your deleting comments remark, are you trying to insinuate something?

  34. As for doing the second finisher: I think it was reallya moment of thinking on her toes. Me thinks all the divas learned a lesson after the James/Kim match that you have to make the end of the match as best you can or you will be chewed out when you are backstage. I’m just sayin
.MCH -wow them be fighting words…

  35. .MCH – Was that really needed? Come on now..

  36. No, I’m not trying to insinuate something Melanie, Just that the last time I posted here my comment was deleted. I assumed it was moved to the appropriate section but when I checked — It wasn’t :(

  37. We do delete comments that are off topic to the discussion of the post, so that is likely it.

  38. Oh ok well that explains it, I wanted to leave my thoughts on the match but the post I wanted to leave it on appear to have comments off after a long discussion between a few people, so I left it in another post because I wanted to share my views.

  39. i dont know if i should be happy or sad for jillian she is a former champ now, but….its strange i dont understand if wwe management actually like this girl n respect her or what?!

  40. WWE is as bad about pushing the same girls as they are the guys. I like both Melina (not as a face though) and Mickie, but I would LOVE to see some fresh faces wearing gold…

  41. Well in that case, why not have a triple threat match for the divas title?? That would have made more sense lol.

  42. The announcer botched, Jillian isnt from LA.

  43. While Jillian was never one of my favorites, I do think she was blatantly robbed. She is basically the WWE’s bitch. She does what they say when they say. In that respect though, She should be able to get a title run, and maybe even a title match at a PPV.

Mickie James definitely needed to go to Smackdown (bittersweet about it) and dropping the belt to a heel was the best way to do it. Its too bad that the junction between her and Melina had to be Jillian.

When it comes to the Divas botching their finishers i like to blame it on them being lazy and complacent. This isnt their fault. They are forced to “dumb down” their wrestling so that the likes of Kelly Kelly and Maryse can keep up with them and look good. So in reality its the WWEs fault. Its stupid to think that the Divas can keep getting better and more creative with dumb bimbos in the picture. For once id like to see what would happen if the WWE allowed the likes of Beth, Mickie, and Gail duke it out like they normally would in the indies.

  44. I still can’t believe all that happened…. When the matches started I saw some weird expressions on Mickie & Jillian’s face, some sorta “Damn, here we go” and the way they both held the title on their hands was so strange like -I don’t know- a li’l bitter’n'melancholyc, I was really shocked.

I’m becoming a huge Melina fan and I was dying to see her wining the Divas championship soon or at least geting back the Women’s title, never though it’d be just around the corner but I actually was expecting it to be in an epic fight or feud, the only thing that makes me sad is that I was counting down the days to se her & Eve on the SmackDown tour here in Mexico… Damn, Why can’t I have it all??

I’m not a Jillian fan, but I dont’t think it was fair (but I’ve been noticing that WWE doesn’t really include that concept on their decisions) at least a week-reign would’ve been worthy; she looked wonderful with the belt and her acting was so amazing, in my opinion both things lightyears better than some current non-personality blue branded champion, I must admit. I wonder what will come next whit the Divas.

  45. False call in the blog. It wasn’t Jillian who botched the finisher it was Melina. Melina released Jillian’s head from the inverted facelock, causing Jillian to fall to the canvas because of no support coming from Melina, who was suppose to have her head in a facelock, while moving her legs out before the split-legged pin. However, Melina did handle her own botch well when compared to Mickie and I do give her kudos for at least handling it properly.

  46. I love Maria Menounos! She was awesome. Doesn’t seem to be much of a prima donna either.

  47. OKAY, seriously? Everybody is getting rambunctious over Jillian’s title reign. Has people forgot the flukest title reigns that occured occured in the Women’s division?

    1. Mickie’s third title reign as Women’s champ – she won it at a house show, BY ACCIDENT, but minutes later, the corrected it by having Melina cheat to win. Honestly, Mickie should be a 3-time champ and Melina a 2-time champ (At least Melina’s is reasonible).

    2. Debra (Stone Cold’s Ex-Wife) – She won the title in an F***ED UP Stipulated Evening Gown Match for having her gown off. That doesn’t make sense, at all, and Debra’s not a wrestler, and she rarely defended the title!

    3. The Kat (Jerry Lawler’s 3rd Ex-Wife) – She won in another Evening Gown Match, but only in a pool. she only defended the gold in pudding and snowball matches. Again, not a wrestler, but I did enjoy her time in WWF. Also, she lost the title to a GUY, which brings me to…

    4. Harvey Whimpleton – The first MALE women’s champion! WOW! Who came up with this idea, back then? But still, a worthless title reign.

    5. Stephanie MacMahon – Obviously the WORST women’s champ in history! What took part in WWE’s glory days – The Attitude Era – and a roster of superior women athletes, the title was around the waist to yet another non-wrestler, with the good excuse that she’s the boss’s daughter. Hardly defended the title and always rely on her then fake husband (now real life hub) Triple H and heel DX to keep the belt.

    6. Trish Stratus – (I hate doing this to you, girl, but I have to) – During her 6th reign, she got injuried in April 05, and was on the sidelines for five months. Funny story is that she took the title with her, causing fans to witness the ATOMIC BOMB of the women’s division – ASHLEY MASSARO! Her final reign was a throwaway, too, because she won the belt, and then retired. As awesome of a star Trish was, a few of her reigns weren’t that great, IMO.

Now in comparison to Jillian’s reign to the ones i’ve mentioned, WWE doesn’t think much; they just do the actions, carelessly. Remember the Hardcore Championship? Nothing but quick reigns after quick reigns, and three women worned that belt – Trish, Terri Runnels, and Molly Holly.

Melanie and Erin, I hope this backs up your comments on Jill’s title reign. I’m not bashing on Jillian; I know she won titles in the indies, but the way she was booked to win it, though, was definitely a mockery of her true stature in WWE. NOT COOL, WWE! NOT COOL!

  48. Bdawg0701-All those woman you named(except trish and mickie) were given the womens title when WWE didn’t care about the title(everything before 2001)

the womens division has grown a lot since then and is taken seriosuly where joke champions don’t exist in womens wrestling(if it did, they would have the given santina the title)

Jillian deserved that divas title, she beat mickie james fair and sqaure(foot on the ropes or not,she would have beaten mickie, she was knocked out) but the title was taken away from her which was out of her control

Jillian is NOT a joke champion,i’m insulted that you would even think to put her name in that catogory of digrace, you see all these fans of Jillian on diva dirt and youtube(read all the comments on the videos where Jillian wins the title) and they backing her up 100%,a joke champion wouldn’t get that

  49. RKOyou – YOU ARE LIKE THE BIGGEST JILLIAN SAVVY OUT OF ALL THE DIVA-DIRT FANS, ARE YOU? I never said she was a JOKE champion, I was mainly reffering to how it was booked! If she’s not a JOKE champion, then why was she given the title, and then losing it 2-3 minutes later? And another thing, why did she get the title shot in the first place? Yes she won the belt, but for what purpose? To lose it to Melina!

Based on what I’ve seen this month, Alicia had the Contendership, made awesome statements to Mickie (dispite the lack of verbal communication), and had a decent showing at HIAC. She was pinned at the Diva Bowl last week by Mickie, and were in the middle of the stare-off backstage with the other girls. And then we hit the following week, and there’s a divas title match (in my head I’m thinking HIAC rematch with FOXY and Mickie) and mickie comes out and then JILLIAN? WTF? What has Jill done to get this title match?

It would be more logical to give it to Alicia because with the scenario that was displayed on Raw, Alicia would win from Mickie, thus ending their fued, Alicia showboats, and BAM, in comes Melina, thus resume their fued on SD! As I remember, Foxy did had multiple encounters with Melina and did help Michelle win the Women’s title at The Bash. So with Melina back on Raw, she would want a little retribution on Alicia for interferring, the Melina becomes champion. Get the logic? Of course, because WWE and logic don’t mix (the same with TNA).

Foxy actually earned her title match, but WWE squashed it because of Mickie’s performance on carrying Foxy, IMO. I’m not saying Jillian doesn’t deserve the title or a title shot, it’s that she didn’t technically earned a title shot. To earn a shot, you got at least win a couple of matches by yourself. Take Sojo Bolt, for example, she’s TNA’s jobber (Sojobber, as fans call her), but she actually earned her title matches: The KO gauntlent in March and the Ladder Match with Taylor in May. Sure I wasn’t expecting her to win, but at least she earned a title match. And I know Sojo is one you like to bash on RKOyou (trust, I’ve seen the comments you made about her), but she’s not that bad, unlike Velvet Sky, Christy, and Traci. She can cut a promo, get on people’s face, she keeps it real. and like Jillian she has who championship gold, including 3 OVW title reigns.

Katie Lea also earned her title match with mickie, Velvet against Taylor, and Natalya for diva’s title. From the past, Torrie Wilson, Nidia, Stacy Keibler, Tori (Terri Pouch), Luna, and others I can’t think of, sure some were given, most of them earned theirs. Hell, even Michelle earned her women’s title, another you like to bash on (though I didn’t like how she got it via politics, but who cares?).

So what I’m trying to say, and what Melanie has been trying to point out is that Jillian didn’t earned a title shot. I’m glad she won, for a change, but it’s purpose was for Mickie to lose the title to go to SD and give it to Melina. HER REIGN DIDN’T MEAN ANYTHING!!! Now if the rumors of Jillian getting a push are true, then we’ll see if she truely earned it. But all-in-all, FOXY should’ve been the better choice for this situation. YOU NAWM SAYING?

  50. Okay. I’ve held my tongue TOO long on this and I can’t read it again without saying anything.

“So apparently title opportunities are no longer earned as Jillian…”

So Jillian didn’t earn that title shot? She didn’t? Really? After all of these years of doing her job keeping her mouth shut, she doesn’t deserve it? You guys are fucking crazy.

But just because Melina is drafted she gets a random ass title shot and that’s logical to you. Fuck thaaaaat.

She deserves every positive thing she gets from now on and that’s real. She’s worked so hard and I think its total crap for y’all to put her down like that. TOTAL CRAP!! Lets see YOU get in that ring and kayfabe sing what people think is “terrible” and be booed and showed absolutely NO RESPECT. Let’s see you go work as hard as Jillian Hall did to go to the WWE and be booed and showed no respect for everything you worked hard for by some kids who’ve been alive for 5 years and have watched WWE for about 3 months.

Let’s see you try that. How about you get into the business and be told you’re not “pretty” or “thin” enough to be a WWE Diva so you’ll have to go get lip injections and other plastic surgeries. LET’S SEE YOU DO IT. YOU GO SEE HOW IT FEELS. YOU GO SEE HOW IT FEELS TO BE BROUGHT DOWN EVERY FUCKING DAY OF YOUR LIFE BY PEOPLE WHO ARE SO JEALOUS OF YOU BECAUSE YOU HAVE TALENT AND POTENTIAL.

How about you go try that huh? How about you go change yourself for something you want so badly? Show Jillian some fucking respect. She’s worked hard for what she’s gotten and she deserves so much fucking more. She deserves those spots on tv over those whores (KELLY KELLY.) who’ve seen wrestling on tv and looked at it as a good opportunity to get noticed by agents and have had no prior passion for the business.

If you think Jillian hasn’t worked hard for that title shot, the psych ward had better get another padded cell available because SOMEONE (She whom wrote this article.) needs to be in it.

    “YOU KNOW YOU WANT MAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!”
